"Now you're even raising your voice at me?!" Jerol thundered, his arm sweeping to encompass the hushed servants present in the room, their faces frozen in wide-eyed shock.
"In front of the servants?!"
His finger then jabbed directly at Marichi, who stood by, his own expression one of carefully feigned shock. "Even in front of Marichi?!" Jerol's voice cracked with fury.
"What's gotten into you?! I just sent you to Slov to acquire the mining rights!" He blasted, stepping so close to Jorel that their chests almost touched.

Tears, hot and stinging, began to well in Jorel's eyes as Jerol's voice boomed over his head, an unbearable pressure.
"And so what if he stole your horse?!" Jerol's hands raked through his hair, a gesture of profound frustration.
"How in the heavens does that warrant a hand being cut off…?"
"B-But---" Jorel tried to stammer out a defense.
