Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Goblins

Bell's current goal is to break through the current Lv.1.

To achieve this, he needs more time to build up. It's not just about gaining experience and skills but also improving his abilities in different areas.

He isn't worried that his stat growth will be too slow. Even before receiving a falna, his physical abilities were already improving quickly.

Otherwise, Bell wouldn't have been able to reach Orario on foot in less than a month.

After receiving falna, Bell believes he will be able to improve much faster and believes it won't take long for him to break through the limits holding him back.

However, Bell didn't want anyone with ill intentions to notice his progress during that breakthrough.

Otherwise, it might bring him a lot of trouble.

Still, Bell doesn't worry too much right now. He didn't even have the capabilities to attract that kind of attention.

The only thing he needed to be cautious about was making sure no one saw him using his storage.

Of course, it's important to hide himself, but it's even more important not to act suspiciously.

So, Bell simply pulled his hood over his head and walked down into the dungeon. He listened carefully to the sounds around him, and faint footsteps kept appearing nearby.

Bell quickened his pace, heading deeper into the first floor, and the sounds around him became clearer.

After reaching a spot far from the entrance, Bell suddenly stopped. The footsteps around him quiet down, but still many sounds fill his ears.

Then, Bell tightly grips the short knife he brought from home hidden under his cloak.

The sounds drew closer bit by bit. The moment they came from directly behind him, Bell didn't hesitate and quickly turned around.

He saw a small green goblin behind him.

Bell noticed the goblin was holding a weapon and aiming to stab him, but he easily dodged by spinning around.

At the same time, the hand holding the knife sliced across the goblin's neck as they passed each other.

"Splash!"

A spray of blood shot out from the goblin's neck. It seemed that, for goblins, the vital points were the same as those of humans.

The goblin quickly turned into a cloud of black ash and slowly sank into the walls of the dungeon.

'I see. The monsters in the dungeon die from a fatal attack, turn into black ash, and get sucked into the dungeon itself. Then, the dungeon uses that to spawn the next monster. This cycle is some kind of dungeon's special ability.'

Then Bell noticed a dagger and a small, purple magic stone lying on the ground. It was clear these were the items dropped by the goblin.

While the magic stone made sense to him, Bell couldn't understand why even the dagger had dropped.

'The weapon in a monster's hand might be created at the same time the monster is spawned by the dungeon and is considered part of the monster itself.'

'Looks like I'm pretty lucky.'

He intentionally walked past the dropped items, and in an instant, he hid them beneath his coat and stored them in his storage.

Then, he retrieved the goblin's dagger from that space and held it in his hand.

He tapped it against the short knife he had brought from home. Then, a chip immediately appeared on the blade of his own dagger while the dagger remained completely intact.

'As expected, the difference in equipment is quite significant. The dagger from a first-floor goblin is this sharp... but is it really normal for goblins to drop weapons this easily?'

Bell felt slightly confused for a moment, but that feeling quickly faded.

It really doesn't matter.

The fact that it dropped meant the short knife he had brought from home could now retire. As for whether the goblin's dagger was truly easy to drop, Bell figured he'd find out by killing more goblins.

But right now, Bell needed some time to calm down.

The excitement of his first kill temporarily suppressed his fear of the unknown. Bell wasn't good at facing fear, especially the kind shown in the horror films he had seen on TV.

This took some getting used to, but he didn't have much time to do so.

The footsteps around him gradually increased. The footsteps seemed to be controlled on purpose and weren't very loud.

They were probably being made by the small goblins.

Bell focused on regulating his breathing, allowing his body to adapt to the situation as quickly as possible.

Slowly, the hand that gripped the dagger stopped trembling from excitement, and his breathing steadied and slowed, and he found a calm rhythm.

Soon, four or five goblins were hidden in the nearby dark corners that were nearly impossible for human eyes to see.

Luckily, Bell had already gotten used to the darkness, and his eyes could make out shapes in the shadows. This allowed Bell to finally see what the goblins looked like.

The goblins had dark green skin, slender bodies, sharp ears, and quite fierce expressions on their faces. They held slightly curved short daggers in reverse grips in their hands, with a terrifying gleam on the blade that seemed to warn of danger.

"Four... no, five."

Bell's emotions were completely calm now.

Despite this being his first time facing monsters, Bell's body began to adjust to the battle.

He didn't know why this was happening, but both his body and mind were adapting at an astonishing speed.

He felt surprisingly focused. He confirmed that the five goblins were spread out at relatively wide distances.

A one-on-one fight wasn't anything to be afraid of, but being surrounded like this meant he had more things to consider.

'So, I still need to make good use of the storage, and using the items stored in storage for combat will definitely make the battle more convenient for me.'

"I've already moved far away from the first-floor entrance. Even new adventurers wouldn't come to such a remote place. So, my actions here won't attract anyone's attention."

Bell had already made a decision in his mind.

This battle would not only be for honing his skills but also to test the practical use of the storage in a fight.
