Chapter 97 - Chapter 97: Mutant, Stand Up!

The butterfly effect had done its work. Loki's invasion of Earth no longer followed its expected trajectory. The changes were massive—unpredictable even—but Joseph remained unshaken.

In fact, he had been waiting for this moment.

The Battle of New York, now turned global, was the opportunity Joseph had anticipated for a long time. An alien invasion on this scale would undoubtedly shake the world to its core. No amount of censorship or information control could contain the news—it would sweep across borders, breach digital firewalls, and reach every screen on Earth.

And that was exactly what "Oasis" wanted.

Originally, the invasion was localized. But now, thanks to Loki tampering with the Tesseract device, space wormholes had formed in five different locations across the globe. Chitauri forces streamed through into cities across Twilight, Wudu, Australia, Neon, and São Paulo.

Ironically, this chaos was helping Joseph's cause.

The X-Men were ready. Thanks to Joseph's foresight and prophetic magic, they'd prepared in advance. And now, at the first signs of conflict, they were on the move.

At the plaza of the new Xavier's School, over a thousand students had gathered. Excitement and tension buzzed through the air like static. Some clenched their fists. Others bounced nervously on their feet.

Suddenly, glowing light curtains flickered into existence midair, like holographic panels. At the center stood a mirror image—a magical double of Joseph—raising its hand and projecting the battlefield scenes.

This wasn't an illusion.

The real Mirror Image spell of the Fifth Circle could create a duplicate with the exact same power and awareness as the original. When Joseph had reached the Sixth Circle, that number increased to two duplicates. Even better—the thoughts of the original and the images were synchronized in real time.

That meant the Joseph standing here knew exactly what was happening in the Stark Tower battles.

"A cluster of five spatial rifts," he explained calmly, addressing the six assembled X-Men squads. "They've opened above the skies of five cities: Twilight, Wudu, Australia, Neon, and São Paulo."

He paused, glancing across the teams. "You already know what to do."

"Relax, Joseph," said Logan, chewing on his signature cigar. "You gave us the prophecy. We've been ready for this. Sending these alien freaks back home is gonna be a breeze."

Joseph nodded. He lifted his hand once more, and with a shimmer, six portals opened in front of the squads.

Without hesitation, the X-Men stepped through, team by team.

Joseph turned to the teacher's bench, where Professor Gray sat quietly. "Professor?"

"Don't worry," Gray said, smiling as he rolled his wheelchair forward. "I'm heading to boost my brainwave signal now."

Unsurprisingly, he'd gotten used to Joseph giving the orders.

Some of the younger students tried to follow him out of curiosity, but a stern voice rang out—Magneto's.

"This is a live observation and training exercise. When it's over, I expect everyone to submit ten essays on battle tactics and power utilization!"

"WHAT?!"

Groans of despair echoed across the square.

City of Wudu – Chaos Unleashed

The sky above Wudu twisted and cracked open like glass. Out poured the Chitauri, an alien army descending like a plague.

Within seconds, fear engulfed the entire city. Screams, explosions, and blaster fire erupted from every corner. Civilians ran in every direction. Tall skyscrapers lit up in fireballs, and glass shattered in glittering rains.

People had grown used to superpowered events—hero fights, mutant incidents, and vigilantes. But nothing had prepared them for a full-blown alien invasion.

No warning. No evacuation. Just death from above.

The Chitauri didn't wait for diplomacy or surrender. They dived on anti-gravity crafts, weapons blazing, cutting down everyone in sight. Missiles, tanks, and fighter jets tried to resist, but compared to Chitauri tech, they were medieval relics.

Then, things got worse.

A Leviathan—a monstrous bio-machine larger than a stadium—tore through the wormhole and smashed through towers like they were cardboard. Panic gave way to complete collapse. Soldiers fled. Officers stood frozen.

"How the hell do we fight this?!" one commander yelled.

But just as despair threatened to consume everything—hope struck like lightning.

X-Men Arrival

BOOM.

Thunder rolled across the city, and lightning split the sky. A silhouette soared upwards—Storm, her white hair crackling with energy, black combat suit glowing.

She screamed through the skies, lightning crackling from her limbs. Each bolt she hurled down shattered Chitauri cruisers. The shockwaves alone sent enemy soldiers flying.

"It's Storm!" someone cried from the streets.

The people watching from the ruins screamed in joy. Where death had reigned, hope now surged.

Storm wasn't alone. Behind her, her X-Men team launched into action:

Fireman John, wreathed in fire

Lucas Bishop, absorbing and redirecting energy

Carl Wen, the mimic with enhanced reflexes

Petra, commanding the very earth beneath her

Each team split up, moving toward different quadrants of the city.

Weeks ago, these were merely students with inconsistent control. But since entering the simulated hell of "Oasis" training, they'd become hardened warriors.

Joseph hadn't accepted weaklings. Only the strong earned the X-Men name.

Tailored Gear, Mutant Pride

Fireman John charged through the city, laughing like a man possessed.

"Joseph's custom gear is CRAZY!!"

His boots shimmered with magical light. Every step was enhanced with Three-Ring Enchantment: Swiftfoot, making him fast as a speedster. His black gloves constantly emitted flame, allowing him to shoot fine, piercing firejets like finger-guns: fwwsh! fwwsh! fwwsh!

Each bolt ignited a Chitauri on contact—not passing through, but exploding inside them like mini firebombs.

Enchantment: Endless Flame.

His suit shimmered as enemy lasers struck it. Most were blocked entirely by an Air Shield enchantment, and the rare shots that got through only created minor ripples.

Three-Ring Air Shield. Vibranium-Laced Suit.

While not full Vibranium, the trace elements infused into the armor gave John more defense than a tank. If they ever got nanotech support from Wakanda's Princess Evelyn Shaw, Joseph's suits would rival even Tony Stark's.

John even had limited flight. Wind runes flared behind his back—Three-Ring Wind Wings—letting him leap into the sky and rain fire from above.

All bitterness he once held toward Joseph was gone. Replaced now with awe.

Joseph wasn't just their teacher. To John, he was a god.

And he followed Joseph's final instruction: every few blocks, he dropped a voice amplifier rune—small enchanted rods that emitted Storm's booming voice across the city.

Storm's Message

"Mutants, it's time to stand up!" Storm's voice thundered across Wudu.

"For too long, we've been feared, hated, rejected—seen as monsters. But we know the truth. Mutation isn't a curse. It's evolution!"

"Now humanity faces annihilation. Aliens have come to wipe us out. If we don't stand now—WHEN WILL WE?!"

"Let the invaders witness our strength. Let the world hear our roar. Let this city become the beacon of what Mutants truly are!"

"We are not accidents. We are the Asgardians of Earth!"

"Mutants! Never be slaves!!"

"Earthlings! Never be slaves!!"

The slogans boomed through the city like war drums.

Awakening

In a crumbling alleyway, two friends crouched behind a wall.

"Charlie…?" said one, stunned. "You're… a Mutant?"

"Yes, Hank. I always have been."

Charlie Ed Ryan, a clean-cut office worker in a business suit, rose from behind the cover. "I've hidden for thirty years. No more."

Ahead of them, Chitauri warriors landed, leveling their weapons.

Charlie didn't hesitate. "Mutants are never slaves!" he roared, and charged forward.

Elsewhere, in a quiet café…

A young woman stared at her elderly mother.

"Mom?! What are you doing?!"

"I'm sorry, sweetheart," said the old woman gently. "I've lived a normal life. Married. Raised a family. Worked as a gardener. I never told anyone… but I'm a Mutant."

She smiled warmly. "My power's small. Just plants. But today... that's enough."

Outside, Chitauri took aim.

Suddenly, roots and vines exploded from the pavement, hurling the aliens through the air like ragdolls.

She stepped forward, slow but certain.

"Even weak powers matter when they're used bravely."

And with one final cry: "Mutants, never be slaves!"

The Tide Rises

What happened in Wudu happened in every other city too—Neon, Australia, São Paulo, and Twilight.

At first, only a few Mutants stepped forward.

But as Storm's voice reached more ears, the numbers grew.

From rooftops and ruins, cafes and corners, thousands emerged—each one shouting, each one done with hiding.

And together, they joined the X-Men.

The small trickle became a flood.

Their cries echoed in every language, across every street—

"Mutants are never slaves!"

"Mutants… STAND UP!!"

It was only five cities.

But tomorrow? Tomorrow it would be five countries.

And soon, the whole world.

The revolution had begun.

And this time…

It wasn't stopping.
