Chapter 127: Banshō Ten'in
The spar in the training ground was intentionally kept subdued by the two combatants, yet the power of their ninjutsu and the loud sounds they emitted
eventually drew the attention of some spectators. Most, upon realizing it was merely a spar, continued with their own affairs.
However, a few individuals, eager to witness a battle between powerful fighters or to comprehend the abilities of the Rinnegan,
still came to the training ground to observe.
Among them was Itachi Uchiha's father, Fugaku Uchiha.
The Uchiha clan head quietly approached his son, dispersing others who wished
to observe the battle along the way. He intentionally sought to conceal the various abilities of the Rinnegan, as this represented the ultimate evolutionary path for their clan,
even though he himself was not entirely clear on the Rinnegan's full capabilities.
Today marked the first time he had witnessed Nagato, the Rinnegan wielder, in combat. His opponent was his son's
teacher, the enigmatic young man from the Hatake clan possessing an unknown Dōjutsu.
Confrontations of this caliber were rare.
Without hesitation, Fugaku Uchiha activated his Mangekyō Sharingan, determined not to miss
a single detail of this battle. No one could guarantee that a hint of the Rinnegan's
evolutionary breakthrough wouldn't be revealed during it.
"Father!"
It wasn't until Fugaku patted Itachi's head that the young boy, completely engrossed in the battle, finally noticed
his father's arrival.
"Watch closely. These two are both individuals from whom you should learn."
"Yes, Father!"
Under his father's watchful eye, the young boy, whose eyes were already somewhat strained, continued to widen his eyes
and analyze the battle, which was truly beyond his current comprehension.
At this point, he couldn't even tell who was casting which ninjutsu.
Kakashi made full use of his speed during the training. With a soft 'whoosh' that sliced through the air,
the ninja, his body wreathed in lightning, emerged from a dent in the wall before vanishing from his original position.
He sensed Fugaku Uchiha watching, but he didn't care.
It was just one more spectator, what of it?
As lightning sparked and danced, Nagato soon found himself unable to remain calmly in place. A hand, seemingly robotic, extended from his back.
From his hand, he launched an extremely fast homing missile, which sought out Kakashi's location on its own.
Raikiri
At high speed, he bisected the missile, which was moving parallel to his own speed. The missile immediately
exploded, enveloping the young man's body in smoke.
This merely obstructed his vision; an explosion of this magnitude could not inflict any significant harm upon him.
The flaring electric light quickly transformed within the smoke into a vivid purple hound, which moved on all fours,
with a slender physique, its speed surpassing that of the missile.
This was the young man's response to Nagato.
Silently, he doubled the strength of his internal lightning armor, upgrading his first-tier physical activation to second-tier. Just moments
before the purple lightning hound reached Nagato, Kakashi appeared behind him, moving with light steps, anticipating
the emergence of the repulsive force.
As expected.
Shinra Tensei
The red-haired man instinctively used this versatile ninjutsu for defense. However, this repulsive
force merely shattered the ninjutsu directly in front of him. Kakashi, behind him, as if by foresight, dodged the Shinra Tensei
at a speed exceeding the repulsion's propagation, and the instant the repulsive force vanished, a specialized iron chain,
several centimeters thick, materialized in his hand.
It immediately raced around Nagato.
He had not frequently encountered speed-type ninja; the last one faster than him was Hanzō the Salamander. Nagato remained calm internally. There were numerous
ways to escape his current predicament. In these fleeting seconds, he lacked the time
to devise the optimal solution.
"Then I'll use a Summoned Beast!"
His right hand quickly formed a seal and slammed onto the ground. A long-tongued lizard materialized beneath the Rinnegan
wielder's feet, taking the fate of being bound by the iron chain in his stead.
With a full-body tremor and a forceful tug, the chameleon, capable of invisibility, tugged along one end of the iron chain, extracting the Lightning Clone that remained
concealed underground.
Kakashi and the Lightning Clone exchanged glances, simultaneously channeling Chakra into their hands.
The dazzling purple lightning nearly blinded the poor Summoned Beast's large eyes. Nagato clearly
observed his Summoned Beast, a mere consumable, gradually succumbing to paralysis from the electricity, losing consciousness, and finally crumbling
to ash.
"Truly terrifying Lightning Release."
Kakashi's ninjutsu redefined the red-haired man's perception of Lightning Release's upper power limit. It wasn't that he hadn't
encountered Lightning Release ninja before, but only the individual before him could wield Lightning Release to such an extreme
degree.
He wondered whether the Raikage of Kumogakure's Lightning Release was stronger or weaker compared to his.
But certainly not stronger than himself.
With the Rinnegan, he was invincible. Nagato harbored this deep-seated confidence; while he did not voice it
to anyone, he certainly held such arrogant thoughts.
"If you defeat me, who is a Demigod, you must become new Gods!"
Nagato believed he genuinely possessed the qualifications to become a God, but the question was whether the world truly required a
God to guide it, or merely to serve as an object of worship.
Banshō Ten'in
Following the repulsive force, the red-haired man finally unleashed his second signature ability: attraction!
This time, the target of the jutsu was the physical clone that had been ambushing underground for quite some time. In the Lightning Clone's eyes, a
chilling fearlessness toward death was evident. Facing the powerful pull, it didn't even bother to resist, instead merely coating its body in
a layer of lightning Chakra. Utilizing the speed of Banshō Ten'in, the gleaming Raikiri in its hand was poised for a close-range sneak
assassination.
The mechanical arm retracted, and a new, normal human arm emerged from Nagato's back. This was the Gakidō ability, capable of absorbing
Chakra. As long as the opponent utilized Chakra, there was no ninjutsu
he could not counter.
Kakashi's true body, observing from the side, silently praised this guy's astonishing battle instincts.
At the same time, unhurriedly, he tightened the iron chain in his hand and suddenly swung it in another direction, attempting to pull the Lightning Clone
out of Banshō Ten'in's gravitational range.
Provided the direction was not entirely opposite, interfering with Banshō Ten'in from one side to divert his Lightning Clone from its
predetermined trajectory was not difficult.
The Lightning Clone's movement paused for a moment. It shifted several meters to the right, escaping the original pull, then quickly
ran to prevent Nagato from ensnaring it again.
"Water Style: Wild Water Wave!"
"Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld!"
Nagato, possessing all Chakra natures, raised his hand and cast two control ninjutsu, thereby restricting Kakashi's movement by altering the
terrain.
Fugaku Uchiha, watching from the side, pulled his son back further to prevent them from being caught in the effects. This dazzling
duel left him utterly overwhelmed.
"So this is the power of the Rinnegan."
Comparing his own Dōjutsu Power and ninjutsu to those of the Rinnegan, the Uchiha clan head's desire to obtain a method for upgrading the Rinnegan
grew ever more urgent.
