Chapter 19 - File 19: Tipping the Scale

The battle that followed was brutal. Elena and Henri fought side by side, their movements synchronized as though they had been preparing for this moment their entire lives. The air was thick with the acrid scent of gunpowder, the sharp sounds of fire and fury ringing in their ears. Each movement was a calculated risk, each step a gamble with death.

Elena had never imagined she would find herself in a fight like this—against her own flesh and blood, against the people she had trusted most. But as the bullets flew and the men fell, she knew there was no going back. She had to survive. She had to end this, once and for all.

"Get down!" Henri shouted, pushing her out of the way as a barrage of gunfire exploded in their direction. They dove behind cover, the sound of bullets ricocheting off the stone walls. Elena's heart raced, but she forced herself to focus.

"We need to get to the control room," Henri said, his voice low and urgent. "That's where they're keeping the files. That's where they've been tracking everything."

Elena nodded, adrenaline coursing through her veins. The control room was their only chance. The key to unraveling everything. But as they made their way down the corridor, the sound of footsteps grew louder, closer. They were running out of time.

"They're closing in on us," Elena said, her voice barely a whisper. She could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on her chest.

Henri turned to her, his expression grim. "We're not leaving without the truth."
