However, for some reason, a bad feeling lingered—as if agreeing would only drag him into a worse situation. It wasn't just a gut feeling but an instinct he had honed over decades as a businessman.

Otherwise, how could his trading house have grown so quickly?

After some thought, he decided to accept. For now, it didn't matter whether Nolan deceived him or not.

As Nolan had said, he had no choice. His daughter could never convince Emperor Ragan, as all the evidence presented to the court was undeniably true.

He had indeed committed all those crimes, and it would be difficult for him to avoid severe punishment. If he accepted Nolan's offer, at least there was still hope for a free life.

Of course, he still had concerns—the Red Obsidian Trading House and his grandson, Zarak.

"If I accept, what will happen to my trading house? And what about my grandson?" He asked in a heavy voice.
