Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Cassidy's Pov****

The air Nips through the curtain, shining bright through my eyes. I twirl around the bed, and with my eyes half open, I notice that someone is lying next to me.

I scrambled to recall the previous night. The memory was hazy, but one thing was certain: this was not Jason lying next to me.

"It's not Jason!" I whispered, my voice trembling as I pushed myself up from the bed. The blanket slipped, exposing my half-naked body; I quickly pulled it back up, my face burning in shame.

Before I could process what was happening, the door burst open; Jason stormed in, accompanied by a group of pack members; his eyes blazed with anger and pain, and my heart sank.

"Cassidy! So it's true!" he called out while he lowered his head, as if too ashamed to look at his mate in such a compromising situation with another man.

"Jason…." I spoke, hoping to defend myself and give an explanation as to what was going on, but no words came out of my mouth; my lips were trembling, and not to mention, my heart was racing frantically, and it was difficult for me to process what was going on.

"You know, when I received information that you were at this hotel with one of my guards, I could not believe it, I said no! It is our wedding today, Cassy will never do such a thing to me!"

Even as his gaze pierced mine, there was a mixture of pain and anger all sprawling in, he had every right to be angry, but I needed him to hear my side of the story.

"That is not what happened, Jason please let me explain"

"Sure! Go ahead and tell me, I want to hear what you have to say." he stretched out his hand in a go-ahead motion.

The pack members murmured among themselves, their faces filled with disgust and disappointment. My father and stepmother stood behind me, their gaze cold and unforgiving, while the man who was on the bed with me earlier was now on his knees, trembling.

"I have no idea how I ended up here; the last thing that I recall was having some drinks with my sister last night. I have no idea how I got here, Brielle; go ahead and tell him!"

I pointed to my sister, hoping that she would speak up for me, but she lowered her gaze, which was filled with nothing but disappointment.

"Is this your excuse? You are way more shameless than I had thought. Even if you did not want to go on with the wedding, couldn't you have just said it to my face, did you have to put me through this pain?"

His face contorted in a mixture of pain, sadness, and anger, with deep lines etched on his forehead, and at this point, it loomed like he was going to tear up.

"How could you Cassidy! It is our wedding today, I did everything for you, I gave you my heart and my entire world, what else did you want that you had to go through these miles to humiliate me before everyone"

He spoke, pointing at everyone, including my dad and stepmother. They all had a look of disgust and disappointment on their face as they stared at me.

I opened my mouth to speak but could not form the proper words, my heart had become heavy, filled with so much pain that I was starting to choke on it, yet I had no idea what was happening to me.

"Please Jason, I know you don't believe me and it's hard for you, but give me some time to figure out what is going on and how I ended up in this hotel, please, let me fix this"

I pleaded as a stream of tears rolled down my cheek, but he shook his head, disappointment waved over him. "It's over, Cassy, and you know it; you broke my heart, and you insulted this entire pack!"

"Yes!" someone suddenly chipped in. "you are so shameless to cheat on the Alpha with a mere guard, a girl like you doesn't even deserve to live!"

"Cassy, I am so ashamed of you, I can't bring myself to call you my daughter and right now, I curse the day that I birthed a child like you"

My dad gritted his teeth as he cursed like he could not bear to look at me one more time; he stormed out of there.

"Please…. Please, Jason, I swear I have no idea what is going on, "I cried out, and even with the blanket still wrapped around my chest, I fell to his feet, clutching onto him and pleading, but he did not hesitate to push me away.

"It's over, Cassy, I will go ahead and reject the mate bond…."

"No….no... please no…." I pleaded but it was too late.

"I, Alpha Jason Vaughn, Alpha of the ancient crest pack, reject you, Cassidy Rowan, as my mate and cut all ties with you!"

I felt that immense pain surged through my heart, shredding through every piece of me that it felt like I was going to lose my sanity at that point.

I had never felt anything so painful like this; it went so deep that it crushed my heart, and the pain wouldn't stop unless I had accepted the rejection.

"I, Cassidy Rowan, accept your rejection." My voice was hoarse; it choked on the pain as I spoke, and just when I thought that it was over, he pulled closer to me, stepping on my palm.

"As the Alpha of the pack, I hereby banish you from the pack and declare you a rogue; henceforth, no pack will let you into their territory; you will wander around until you are killed!"

He stated the fate of a rogue, even when I lifted my gaze to stare at him, they were cold, void of any form of emotions, like this was not the man that I knew and loved.

And with that, he stormed out of there, his men dragging the other man away. But just as Brielle was about to follow behind, I reached for her arm.

"Brielle, you have to help me, I have no idea what happened or how I ended up here, plead with Alpha Jason since you are close to him"

My eyes had turned red and were wandering in desperation; Brielle looked at me with sympathy before she pulled me away from her side.

"I am sorry, I wish that there was a way for me to help you, but you were caught with a man on the same bed, the Alpha's mind is made up and there is nothing that anyone can do to change that, I suggest that you leave right now else he might take your life"

She advised and walked out of there. Everyone could not stop staring at me in disgust as they left. It was so hard for me to believe that my world that was about to become perfect suddenly came crashing, yet just like Brielle said, I knew that I had to leave, or else I might lose my life.

I hurried back home, trying so much to hide myself as I did and once I was back at home, I exhaled softly before hurrying upstairs.

My gaze landed on my wedding gown hung right before me; today was supposed to be a perfect one, and as I stared at it, tears rolled down my cheek.

My hands began shuffling through the wardrobe, packing as many clothes as possible until I was suddenly interrupted by the sound emanating from Brielle's room.

At first, I wanted to ignore it, but the voice sounded so familiar and given that I had better hearing ability than most werewolves, I had to be right.

I stride out of my room, slowly walking towards the other room, my heart racing fast and there was the thing that I was so afraid to face.

"Yes… yes, jason…. Don't stop; you know how to rock my word," she teased as Jason giggled. My heart sank, and I felt my entire world crumble before my feet.
