Chapter 7 - The Truth

A must-see visitor had arrived!

Very quickly, Concubine Ava had the maid apply powder on her face before she, Pyla and Lucinda left her bedroom chambers.

Standing in a sizable room for addressing guests and visitors was Hayden and two guards. When they saw the women approach, they quickly gave deep bows while cupping their joined fists in front of them.

"This humble one salutes Her Majesty Queen Lucinda, Concubine Pyla, and Concubine Ava… please, forgive the intrusion from this humble one."

Very elegantly, Lucinda waved her hands, "It's alright. I take it Steward Hayden has a reason for his visit, right?"

Hayden lifted his back, standing in an upright position once more. With a humble and respectful demeanor, he nodded. "I bear a message from the Holy One."

Ava felt her heart throb uncontrollably, feeling a layer of unease cloak her entire being. She wanted it to be good news, but she felt it would be otherwise. And sure enough, her gut feeling was right.

"Second concubine Ava, so as to ease the Third Prince Carter's distress, Commoner Julius must not leave with a single coin or wealth from you, with the exception of the shop and estate you requested withdrawn from your dowry."

Steward Hayden paused to observe Ava's expression, and breathed a sigh of relief when seeing she didn't reach greatly. "Concubine Ava must withdraw all maids and servants working in the manor given to Commoner Julius."

It meant that if anyone, especially the guards, chose to stay, Julius will be the one taking care of their wages.

Ava trembled like a falling leaf when listening to Steward Hayden. All this was to make up for the 3rd Prince's distress?

Brouh-hah-hah~

What a good Third prince!

It must have been him who shamelessly placed forward his demands after hearing his majesty had kicked her son out.

This was clearly cutting off her son's means of survival in all directions!

Then what about her plans of supporting her son?

A while later, Steward Hayden had no more to say. So he bowed and took his leave once more, feeling pity for Concubine Ava who gave birth to such a worthless and disgraceful son. To him and many, former Prince Julius didn't deserve to have his father's royal blood flowing through his veins.

In the meantime, the Campbells were also having a secret discussion of their own.

"Daughter, is what you said true?!"

Susan Campbell nodded with a cold face. She hardly smiled, making many men say she was quite boring to be around. She was an absolute beauty, no doubt about it. But unlike other women who learned embroidery and playing musical instruments, Susan Campbell, just like her father, loved training and playing with swords.

Her father was general Clayton Campbell, one of the strongest generals in Etratis. In addition to this, her late grandfather's name was a legend, and her brother was also well-known for his raw strength too. So Martial arts and the art of war was their fortes.

Everyone gathered around Susan, shocked by the revelation she told. "What? He was saving you, instead?"

Susan nodded, "I was careless. I suspect Third Prince Carter was the one who made the move."

Him?

Clayton, his wife and son frowned, a little unsure about the matter.

Seeing her family's doubts, Susan calmly examined her matter, telling them about her earlier doubts before the incident happened.

It was five months ago that Susan knew of the secret meetup between Carter and Julius's fiancé. It appears that the two of them wanted each other, and Julius, as well as she, were in the way.

"Still," Susan taped her fingers lightly. "I don't think Carter is a romantic. He must value the Lagoon clan's support over our Campbell Family's."

Boom!

Clayton ruthlessly slammed his fist on the wall. "How dare he? How dare that bastard plot against my Campbell's precious daughter?"

Oden Campbell clenched his fists, immediately turning around. "Sister, I'm going to kill him! How could he?"

Mother Campbell quickly grabbed her son, smacking him hard at the back of his head. "You father and son are just the same. Why are you both so hot-headed? Can't you use your brains like your daughter/sister?"

Seeing as the son and father duo had now calmed down, looking at her aggrieved, Mother Campbell breathed out heavily. "I believe in our Susu. But without evidence, how dare you rush to the palace to confront the Third prince?"

"Then… then.. What do we do? Do we just leave things like this? Because of his scheme, my sister is now with the sixth prince!"

Oden frowned, unwilling to accept Julius as his brother-in-law. Everyone else was also unwilling in this matter.

However, the person who shocked them the most was Susan. "Mother, Father, Brother… you better open your hearts and accept him faster."

Accept him? Everyone frowned. Was she referring to Julius that good-for-nothing?

"Why, you ask?" A warm smile suddenly crept on Susan's face, a smile that made everyone shocked. "Because he is the only man I want."

"—"
