Chapter 3 - Entering the Warcraft Mountains

In the silent forest, a large group of people moved cautiously. Everyone remained on high alert, constantly scanning the surrounding bushes with watchful eyes.

As an experienced mercenary who had been in the Warcraft Mountains for many years, he gripped the weapon on his waist tightly with both hands, ready to react to any sudden threat at any moment.

Although many of the mercenaries were working together for the first time, they all maintained a basic mutual understanding. When they exchanged glances, they could read signs of safety or danger in each other's eyes.

The sun was at its peak, blazing hot. Those walking along the path were exposed to its scorching rays, making most of them feel parched and dizzy.

What harsh weather today. Even the wind brushing against my skin feels scorching hot.

A man around thirty years old was closely following the herb-gathering cart, wiping the sweat from his forehead repeatedly with a towel draped over his shoulder, complaining with frustration.

This bearded man's name was Moba. He was the leader of this mercenary team. His strength was equivalent to that of an Eight-Star Fighter, which was considered quite formidable among regular mercenaries.

"Uncle Moba, here, catch!"Mu Chengfeng grabbed the kettle from the cart and tossed it to him.

Upon hearing Mu Chengfeng's voice, Moba paused for a second, then quickly turned and caught the kettle thrown in a neat arc with both hands.

"Thank you, little brother."Moba took the kettle, twisted off the lid with force, and gulped the water down. Bang! Bang! After drinking, he didn't forget to wipe the spout with his sleeve before walking back toward Mu Chengfeng, likely to return it.

"Uncle Moba, do you know where we are now?"Mu Chengfeng, sitting on the cart, asked first.

Upon hearing this, Moba moved to the front of the cart, pulled out a slightly yellowed map from his sleeve, slowly unfolded it with both hands, and pointed to a mountain marked with a blue dot.

This map, neither too big nor too small, showed the part of Qingshan Town near the Munster Mountain Range. Mountains were marked with red and blue dots red indicating the presence of beasts, blue meaning no sightings yet.

The Warcraft Mountains were located in the central part of the Jiama Empire. To the east lay the Tagore Desert. The region was vast, and the mountains were towering and majestic. Stretching more than 800 kilometers across the northwestern area, they were considered unparalleled in the world.

There were at least a thousand peaks within the Warcraft Mountains and dozens of routes from the outer edges leading inward. Moreover, each route branched off into multiple directions.

If an ordinary person ventured alone into the mountain depths without a guide, even if lucky enough not to die from a beast attack, they would eventually get lost and starve to death.

"This is the route we're taking today."

The little medicinal fairy pointed at the map and gently traced a wavy line. She looked at Uncle Moba holding the map and, after a moment of thought, spoke slowly.

"Yes, this route is relatively safe, but it has many slopes, and walking it is a bit challenging."Moba glanced at the little medicinal fairy in the cart and replied.

"It's alright, Uncle Moba. It doesn't matter if the path is tough. There are no roads in this world, but when enough people walk a path, it becomes one."Mu Chengfeng smiled.

After he finished speaking, the cart continued moving forward. Suddenly, Mu Chengfeng raised his brows, blinked in surprise, and his muscles tensed up.

As a transmigrator, his spiritual perception was much stronger than that of ordinary people. In addition, he possessed the rare Three-Flower Pupil of the Green Snake, seen only once in a century. Although he hadn't cultivated Dou Qi yet, he could rely on his strong perception to sense things kilometers away.

Suddenly, strange sounds came from the bushes on both sides of the mountain path.

"Howl~ howl~"The shrubs began to shake violently.

The entire herb-picking team became alert, their hearts jumping to their throats. The mercenaries gripped their weapons tightly, ready for battle at any moment.

"Swish~"A mother hedgehog, along with three baby hedgehogs, leapt out from the bushes.

"Damn it, it's you, you creature!"Moba, gripping his silver spear tightly, exhaled sharply and cursed inwardly with mild annoyance.

"Keep moving. We're about to enter the Munster Mountain Range. Stay alert and don't let anything go wrong!"Moba waved his hand and shouted loudly.

"Yes, Captain!"

Upon hearing the middle-aged man's shout, the dozens of burly men around him responded in unison. The synchronized sound made people glance at one another in admiration.

"Did I sense it wrong?"Mu Chengfeng lowered his head in the cart, scratched his little head, and muttered quietly.

But he clearly felt a strong aura not far from their team. That aura was even stronger than anyone in Qingshan Town.

Boom!

Little one, what are you thinking about? Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll protect you.

The little medicinal fairy noticed him lowering his head and talking to himself, and slapped him on the head again.

You silly girl! Can you stop hitting my head? You're going to drive me crazy.Mu Chengfeng frowned and grumbled angrily.

Oh heavens! You really haven't been disciplined in three days. You're so arrogant you don't even call me sister anymore. Just wait and see how I deal with you.

And so, the two of them began acting out the long-lost cat-and-cat slap combo on the cart. Their movements flowed smoothly, each one deadly, as their punches exchanged like a storm.

Anger, joy, pain, happiness all kinds of emotions surged within their hearts.

In the Warcraft Mountains, a team of nearly a hundred people was moving slowly. At the center, tightly guarded by mercenaries, was Wanyaozhai's herb-gathering team.

On the outskirts of the Warcraft Mountains, everything was relatively calm. However, not long after the group entered the range, they were attacked by several waves of Warcraft.

Fortunately, the beasts that attacked weren't too powerful or numerous. Few were injured, and the wounds weren't serious. After some quick bandaging, they were able to move on.

Once they entered the Warcraft Mountains, the mountain road was no longer lined with short bushes and sparse forest. Instead, massive and oddly shaped trees rose high into the sky, casting a gloomy atmosphere.

Due to the dense, shaded forest on both sides of the road, wild animals and even magic beasts likely lived within. The team had to be cautious and alert with every step.

It now seemed that many mercenaries were moving ahead along the forest path, and the noise was bound to disturb some sleeping magic beasts that rested during the day and prowled at night.

"Hiss, hiss, hiss~"The sound of a serpent-like creature echoed from the forests on either side of the road.

"Everyone be alert. These are Red Flame Serpents. Seven on the left, nine on the right, twelve in the center, and eight hanging from the trees..."Mu Chengfeng, who sat on the cart, warned the mercenaries. Thanks to his strong perception, he could easily detect the number and location of the attacking beasts.

Several red shadows whistled through the wind and leapt from the treetops in the forest.

The Crimson Flame Serpent a Tier 1 magic beast of the fire attribute usually lived around the magma layers beneath the Magic Beast Mountains and rarely appeared on the surface.

They were a type of serpent-like magic beast that lived in groups. Each group typically had a leader. If given the chance, they could evolve into Tier 2 beasts the Red Flame Snake.

Crimson Flame Serpents had a strong attack ability. They could exhale fire laced with flame poison. If the poisoned person wasn't treated within a day, their body would begin to fester, their organs would fail, and they would eventually die.

"Whoosh~"

Suddenly, a large number of Crimson Flame Serpents launched an attack on the mercenaries. More than a dozen of them, without any restraint or tactics, charged straight toward Xiao Yixian and the others like lightning.
