RECAP: Alex, who came back from the Demon Slayer world bringing Shinobu as his fiancée, discovered that the Fantastic Four had already been blasted by cosmic rays. Doom, however, did not gain powers but only had his face disfigured from the incident. Being held responsible for the company's downfall gave an opportunity to Alex's Elita Investment to not only acquire shares but also secure the management rights. Devastated, Doom returned to his home and discovered that his origins were not so simple. Traveling to Latveria and his family's old castle to seek answers, he learned that his mother was a mystic arts user who had been wrongly accused and murdered by the very village she once helped. Enraged, Doom vowed to uphold vengeance against them.
Meanwhile, in New York, an incident befell the Brooklyn Bridge where the Fantastic Four made their debut as heroes. During this event, Alex spoke with them and introduced SHIELD agent Coulson, who broadened their horizons. From that, they formed a sort of alliance..
ALEX'S HOME, NEW YORK
MAY 23, 1998 (AFTERNOON, TWO WEEKS LATER)
GENERAL POV
Alex sat beside Shinobu, gently massaging her calf, his fingers kneading the tense muscle with practiced care. The room was dimly lit, a soft amber glow from wall sconces casting long shadows across the hardwood floor.
The air hummed faintly with the residual energy pulsing from the training equipment, a low buzz like a distant swarm of bees. They had just returned from the system space—not the simulation chamber, which was only used to consolidate powers or enhance battle insights—but the actual physical training room.
She pushed herself hard today, Alex thought, admiring Shinobu's grit as he worked out a knot in her leg.
Shinobu let out a relaxed sigh, stretching her arms as she leaned back against the plush headboard, her violet hair spilling over her shoulders like a silken waterfall. She had already consumed the physical enhancement potion Alex had purchased from the system mall.
It was the same type he'd used—but hers focused solely on enhancing raw physical stats and breaking the limit on the potential. Just pure power. Unlike his own potion, which also gave near photographic memory and enhanced his mental capacity, Shinobu's version strictly boosted her body.
Her base strength now measured an impressive 20 tons, and her speed clocked in at 50 meters per second. Fast enough to outrun a car, strong enough to flip one. She can become more than ten times stronger when she puts on the suit I gave her after enhancing it with insect breathing.
That's why, when he punches Doma with a strike force of 50 tons in a suit, it's impressive given that her original strength with using insect breathing was only 1.5 tons without a suit.
But in Marvel's absurdly broken power scaling? Still barely at building level. Building level? In a world where gods sneeze away planets? He groaned silently, shaking his head.
How the hell do average humans survive in a world filled with cosmic horrors? Alex wondered with a tired smirk, his fingers pausing on Shinobu's calf.
Guess they put all their faith in guys wearing capes and spandex.
But the enhancement potion wasn't as simple as he'd initially believed. At first, Alex assumed it was just a stat booster—temporary, linear, predictable. Like a video game power-up, he'd thought, naive in hindsight.
Then, two weeks ago, after closely monitoring his own progress, he discovered something strange. His strength was still increasing, even without a change in templates.
What the hell? I'm not even training that hard, he thought.
He currently had four templates. The most recent addition—Batman—shouldn't have affected his base strength at all. He was already vastly superior to the Dark Knight in pure physical power.
The first two templates had already reached 100% completion, so they were ruled out. Only the Minato Namikaze template remained, stuck stubbornly at 97%(2 weeks ago). Come on, Minato, don't blue-ball me like this, he grumbled inwardly, frustrated by the stall.
That realization led to a powerful conclusion: The enhancement potion didn't just boost stats—it shattered the biological limiters in the human body.
Recently, he had consumed the Fountain of Youth—from Seven Deadly Sins. Drinking it felt like sipping glacial spring water from the Himalayas—clean, ancient, overflowing with life. The result was immediate. His life force surged, and his body became almost immortal with near infinite life force to support it.
Even the one major flaw he'd been anxious about—his lack of regeneration ability—was resolved. No more worrying about bleeding out in a fight, he thought, relief washing over him like a warm tide.
However, Alex still hadn't unlocked Nen through using the scroll. The scroll came with a dire warning: If the user's aura nodes were disturbed by the presence of any foreign energy, the result would be instant death. Instant death? Hard pass, he thought, shuddering at the risk.
He wasn't willing to take that risk, especially with the Minato template currently still sitting at 99% (after 2 weeks)—frozen, which was increased after drinking the fountain of life, unchanged after that. Why's it stuck again? I'm so close, he thought, frustration gnawing at him.
Alex knew that any template involving internal energy or elemental powers had to be fully assimilated before it became truly his. Take Minato, for example: his chakra level was already at Kage-tier in the system panel. But Alex didn't possess chakra innately. The chakra he used right now came through the system—it merely acted as a conduit, a stand-in.
Once a template reached 100%, any energy-based power within it became truly his only after assimilation.
Another crucial discovery: When a template hit 90%, he would gain access to all the abilities associated with that character. But the remaining 10%? That was the crucial part.
That final stage was when his body would merge completely with the template—allowing him to wield its powers as if he were born with them. It's like becoming the character, not just cosplaying them.
Given that his base physical strength could already level several buildings—and was solidly in the street-level [U] tier—and his mental strength had been dramatically enhanced by the potion, he would eventually surpass the original template owners.
In the Naruto world, chakra was refined from physical and mental strength—excluding freaks like Naruto and Hashirama, whose chakra reserves had been absurdly high since childhood.
But Alex's stats were already so far off the charts that once he fully assimilated a chakra-based template, he would be stronger than the original characters in chakra reserve, as his mental and physical strength is several times stronger than Minato's.
Alex blinked out of his thoughts as Shinobu's voice pulled him back to reality, her tone teasing but warm. "You spaced out again," she said with a gentle smile, poking his shoulder with a slender finger, her violet eyes glinting with mischief.
"Well, just thinking about something," Alex replied as he continued to massage her calf, his fingers working with a steady rhythm.
"I hate you. You didn't go easy on me in training, even though I'm your soon-to-be wife," Shinobu pouted, crossing her arms with an exaggerated huff. Her lips pursed, but her eyes sparkled with playful indignation.
He's so mean, but he's cute when he's embarrassed, she thought, fighting a smile.
"W-Well, you told me not to go easy on you. I also wanted to see how much stronger you'd gotten after drinking the enhancement potion," he said, ruffling his hair to cover his embarrassment, his cheeks tinting pink.
She's got me on the ropes, he thought, flustered by her pout.
"Hmph." Shinobu turned her head away, her violet hair swishing dramatically, though her lips twitched with a suppressed grin. He's so easy to tease, she thought, savoring her victory.
Just as Alex began thinking about how to make it up to her, an idea popped into his head. Should I take her to a movie? She liked movies. Her favorite was Titanic. She cried all night when they watched it and clung to him like a koala.
"Should we go to a movie?" he asked gently, trying to coax her back into a good mood, his voice soft and hopeful.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Shinobu's eyes lit up, and a smirk tugged at her lips—though her face was still turned away. She shook her head slightly, pretending to resist, but clearly falling into his trap. He's so predictable, she thought, her heart fluttering.
Just as they were deciding what movie to watch, Cara entered the room with a serious expression and handed Alex the morning newspaper. Her amber eyes were sharp, her posture tense, like a coiled spring.
The headline screamed in bold black ink: DOOM BECOMES RULER OF LATVERIA.
Alex frowned as he scanned the front page. The image showed a man clad in armor with a green cloak seated on a throne, staring straight into the camera, his steel mask glinting with cold authority.
Looking like a sci-fi dictator already, Alex thought.
According to the article, Doom had become the legitimate ruler of Latveria following an uprising led by himself against the corrupt baron who had ruled with an iron fist. The UN, in typical fashion, did nothing—again. Since Latveria was a sovereign monarchy and not a democratic nation, the uprising was deemed legal.
The people had chosen Doom as their new leader, believing he had brought them freedom.
Freedom, sure, but with a leash, Alex thought, his lips curling in disdain.
But they didn't realize that kind of freedom came at a steep cost. Sure, Doom was known to reduce crime and boost the economy—Alex had read that on Reddit and various forums in his past life. But he was also authoritarian. No one had true freedom under his rule.
"Hmm… just when I thought this month wouldn't spiral into absurdity, it still catches up," Alex sighed, tossing the paper onto the bed with a frustrated huff.
"So, what do you think? Will you do something about him?" Cara asked, her voice calm but probing, her eyes locked on his.
He's got that look again—plotting mode, she thought, her lips twitching.
"No," Alex shook his head, his tone firm but weary. "Right now, Doom isn't doing anything that threatens us or the Earth. If we attack him, it'll just cause political unrest. That's why the UN didn't step in either—not that they ever do anything. But still, it would spark a war if there is unrest in Latveria's hands." Last thing I need is a diplomatic mess, he thought, grimacing.
Cara, who had been thinking the same, nodded in agreement, her expression softening slightly.
Suddenly, an orange spark flared in front of the bed, a swirling vortex of light crackling like a bonfire. Cara immediately transformed her arm into a cannon, its barrel humming with energy. Alex stood up, alert, his muscles tensing as he stepped in front of Shinobu. Shinobu grabbed her katana from beside the nightstand, her grip steady, her violet eyes narrowing.
A woman's voice echoed from the growing light, calm and faintly amused. "No need to point a gun and sword at an old lady," said the figure stepping through the forming portal, her silhouette framed by swirling sparks.
She wore a hooded yellow robe, the fabric flowing like liquid gold. As she stepped forward and pulled back her hood, her calm smile met Alex's guarded gaze, her bald head catching the dim light.
"I've been wanting to meet you, Alex—the anomaly. I am the Sorcerer Supreme. You may call me the Ancient One. But I think you know me already."Ancient one said with a calm slight smile.
"Stand down, Cara," Alex said, though he kept his senses sharp, every nerve on edge.
She looked just like her MCU counterpart, but the power she radiated… it was immense. Even with the Fountain of Youth coursing through his body—boosting his base strength to 600 tons—he knew he couldn't beat her as pure brute strength won't do anything against her prime example Hulk, and right now I can feel she's on a whole other level than the mcu one, he thought, swallowing hard.
Still, he kept a respectful distance, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Even if you're eager to meet me, isn't it a bit rude to barge into a couple's bedroom?" he said flatly, his tone dry but laced with a hint of humor.
In his past life, he'd read countless fanfics where the MC always went to meet the Ancient One. He never wanted to do that.
What if she thought he was a threat to the timeline and sealed him away? He wasn't going to gamble his life just because someone represented "good." Besides, he just wanted to grind templates in peace.
I'm a simple guy with simple dreams, want to grow OP, then be like Thorfinn, who farms, but before that, I need an exciting adventure tale of mine to tell my kids— he thought.
"Well, the things were urgent, so I didn't knock. Well, you might have already know of him, I am here because of your new business partner," the ancient one said as she eyed the newspaper on the bed.
Doom, Alex thought, even though he knew there might be a problem coming from Doom. But not this fast, and the ancient one herself came, meaning he is doing something totally absurd. Let's just find out what the reason is first.
As he gestured for her to walk with him, he led her out of the bedroom into the living room. Cara and Shinobu followed closely, their steps silent but vigilant.
The Ancient One didn't waste time, her voice steady and grave. "Doom is being manipulated by Mephisto, the ruler of Hell—another dimension connected to this universe. Doom believes that by performing a certain ritual, he can free his mother's soul from Mephisto's grasp."
Mephisto? Hell? Alex thought, his stomach twisting.
"But in truth," she continued, her eyes locking onto his, "the ritual is opening a portal to Hell itself—releasing an army of demons onto Earth."
Ah, no one knows the quote here—not even a single character from Marvel—which is "fuck around and find out," literally Doom or any other crazy epiphany guy in Marvel.
Alex's eyes widened, his breath catching. He had assumed the first major event would be Loki's invasion of New York. This? is happening much sooner.Doom, you're speedrunning the apocalypse, he thought, his mind racing.
"W-Will Mephisto come himself?" Alex asked, his voice tense, a bead of sweat forming on his brow. If Mephisto appeared in person, it was over. He wasn't remotely strong enough yet.
I'm tough, but not 'punch a devil' tough he can play with me like i played with muzan, he thought, grimacing.
"No," she said, shaking her head, her calm demeanor unshaken. "He cannot enter Earth directly—not with the three Sanctum Barriers maintained by Kamar-Taj. But he can send phantoms, illusions, and lesser demons to sow chaos just like he might have done with Doom."
Lesser demons? Still bad if not solve right away.
Alex nodded grimly. He already knew about the Sanctum barriers.
"But don't celebrate just yet," she added, her tone sharpening. "As I said—lesser demons will still arrive."
"Why don't you stop Doom yourself, then?" Alex asked, stopping in his tracks, his arms crossed. "You clearly have the power." You're the Sorcerer Supreme—why's this my problem? he thought, his brow furrowing.
"I do," she admitted, her voice soft but firm. "But if I intervene, There are many future possibilities where Doom may fall completely to darkness—either by surrendering to Mephisto or turning his wrath on humanity. Kamar-Taj cannot take that risk. That's why I came to you—the anomaly."
Anomaly? What's that supposed to mean? Alex thought, his curiosity piqued.
Alex narrowed his eyes, his tone skeptical. "Why me? What even is this anomaly?" Spill the beans, lady, he thought, leaning forward slightly.
She raised the Eye of Agamotto, its green glow casting eerie shadows across her face. "This relic is called Eye of Agamotto, which helps to let me see the future of the universe. Every path. Every decision."
He looked at it, then back at her—still confused, his brow furrowing deeper.
She smiled, a knowing glint in her eyes. "I can see everyone's future—except yours or someone shrouded by you. I can see even hers," she said, gesturing at Shinobu, who stiffened slightly, her violet eyes narrowing.
Can she see my future? Shinobu thought and was annoyed by hearing that.
"Sorry," the Ancient one added, a little apologetically, her smile softening. "I had to look into her because she now lives in this world. But you… You have no future to be seen. No possible timelines. Every action you take collapses multiple potential outcomes for others."
No alternate future? Not even a single one? What would the TVA think? They might as well recruit me.Alex thought, a wry smirk tugging at his lips.
"That's why every being engaged with you have a impact of true reasoning with you if you confront Doom there are chances that he won't go pure evil"
"You don't have much time," she said, her voice urgent. "Doom will act tonight."
Alex nodded, his resolve hardening. "Well, there is something I want to ask. If you can see the future of others but not mine, what about my parents? Did you see anything? I really want to know if they awakened from their coma in the future."
"As I said, I can't see your future. You are somehow connected to them, and I don't understand why. Even through the Eye of Agamotto, I can't perceive your parents' auras; they are shrouded by you, Alex," the Ancient One said in a serious tone. The mysteries surrounding Alex were far greater than she had anticipated.
Alex stood there with a flicker of hope, which flew away after hearing the Ancient One. Even the system hadn't told him when he awakened in his subconscious mind; it only mentioned that his parents' souls were damaged. As he was lost in thought, the Ancient One opened a portal. He let go of those troubling thoughts and focused on her as she prepared to leave.
As she turned to go, she looked at Shinobu, her smile warm. "If your fiancée wishes to learn the mystic arts, she's welcome at Kamar-Taj. Consider it compensation."
Mystic arts? Me? Is that what she is doing when opening portals? I may be able to help Alex in this dangerous world with that, Shinobu thought, her eyes widening with curiosity.
Old fox, trying to form connections, Alex thought, his lips twitching. Still, Shinobu needed more power if she wanted to survive in this world.
"Why didn't you offer me that?" Alex asked, his tone half-teasing, half-curious.
The Ancient One widened her eyes, a playful glint in them. "Because I'm not capable of teaching you. But if you want access to our library—I can arrange that."
She stepped through the portal and vanished, the orange sparks fading into the air like dying embers.
Not capable of teaching me? What did she mean by that?
Heh… she probably saw how much of a genius I am, Alex thought smugly as he flipped his hair, striking a dramatic pose. I'm too awesome for Kamar-Taj, he thought, grinning.
He must be having narcissist thoughts again, Cara and Shinobu thought simultaneously, exchanging a knowing glance and rolling their eyes.
"Point the monitoring satellite toward Latveria and set the coordinates for Doom Castle to the portal device you created earlier," Alex ordered as he looked at Cara, his tone shifting to business. The satellite was one he had personally placed in orbit, using his Green Lantern mode.
Monitoring Earth while he can sleep peacefully, so that a wandering spaceship won't come and give warning to Earth —what kind of system user with billions of dollars wouldn't have a space-based alert system? I might even build an orbital station like the Justice League eventually.
As he assigned tasks, Shinobu asked, her voice soft but curious, "Who was she?"
Alex explained who the Ancient One was, his voice steady. Cara already knew—she had seen while tapping into his memory to build the simulation chamber. She had kept quiet at the time, but was still on guard because there were various counterparts of characters. Smart move, Cara, Alex thought, nodding approvingly and appreciating her vigilance.
With that, he was sorry to postpone his movie date.
....
Inside the system space, Alex approached a display case holding a white, pristine suit, its sleek lines glowing faintly under the artificial light.
"Time for AETHERION to make its debut," he said, his voice brimming with anticipation, his eyes locked on the suit like a kid eyeing a new toy.
