Late that night, Elias stood on the balcony, his eyes fixed on Lior's crib. Too many questions crowded his mind, but no answers. His thoughts went back to the events of the day.
"The king should know," Mason whispered, but Elias shook his head.
"I know Rowan too well. He is not only ready to burn the world to save Lior, but everyone within it."
Looking back now, Elias felt the weight of the words seep within him. He was too caught up in his thoughts to notice Rowan step in.
"El," Rowan called, pulling the man before him into his arms. "What's on your mind? You didn't notice me walk in," Rowan demanded, but Elias smiled and hugged him tighter.
"Nothing, I just miss you."
Rowan's hands brushed his hair, then held him closer, sniffing his hair.
"You're intoxicating," Rowan whispered.
Elias stepped closer, his hands on Rowan's chest. He tilted his head and stood on his tiptoes.
"Choose me," he whispered.
