The mistakes did not take long—it came right before much could be done. Queen Melissa stormed into her quarters after the meeting, her body vibrating from anger, her hands trashing every object in her way.
"My Queen," Paula called from behind, but Queen Melissa did not react.
"How could he say such... A lowlife, with nothing to his name," she snapped, throwing another vase at the wall.
"I told Edmon he would be a problem! I told him to take care of himself! But now see what his failure has cost me!"
A glass shattered on the ground. Paula stepped back, but before she could get to a safe space, a vase flew toward her. Luckily, a hand pulled her out of the way just in time.
"What are you doing here?" Queen Melissa roared at Theron, who had just walked in with a noisily sobbing Adela.
"Mom—" Theron stepped forward, but Queen Melissa held out a hand, stopping him in his tracks.
