Kael tilted his neck slightly.

What's going on...?

Suddenly, that thought vanished from his mind. Like a puff of smoke, it dissipated in the wind, as if the ties that bound it had weakened. And yet he knew with certainty that those thoughts had existed. The memory remained vivid.

He watched as the child's lips slowly curved into a smile.

"I see, so you interrupted me..."

The entity did not respond. It simply dug its skin-like tentacles much deeper into his body than before.

Kael realized that time was running out. But he wasn't worried, just in a tight spot. He understood that the "child" who was monopolizing his emotions wasn't that powerful.

The process of consuming thoughts, emotions, and senses is not gradual, but instantaneous.

"It has completely robbed me of my sense of smell, rather than simply diminishing its odor."

It was obvious that there was an interval in this... If he understood it, he would know how much time he had left before he was doomed.
