Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Frozen Base

"Reject him for now, tell him I'm busy. If he wants revenge, tell him to fly west and find the Ten Rings Gang in other regions."

Leon flew toward the nearest Eagle military base, one of seven located in and around Afghanistan. Over the next few years, this number would expand to nineteen. With so many bases around such a small, backward country, it was clear that the Eagles had more than just wine on their minds; their ambitions were evident.

Leon originally planned only to eliminate the Ten Rings Gang during his trip to Afghanistan, with further plans to be developed later. However, the little girl he encountered earlier tonight changed his mind. After all, he was already here, and not doing something while he was in the area would feel like a disservice to his memories of his past life.

Although the Eagles in this world weren't exactly the same as those in his previous life, Leon couldn't help but feel the urge to deal with the claws of this bald eagle.

As he approached the base, air raid sirens blared through every barrack. These well-trained soldiers were far more vigilant and efficient than terrorists. Before Leon could make any moves, a series of machine gun muzzles were aimed at him. The base's external communication equipment threatened: "Intruder, land now! Stop where you are! Otherwise, we will open fire immediately!"

The aggressive tone, the rapidly assembling army, and the aligned gun muzzles all made Leon sneer. Peaceful negotiation was never an option. When dealing with a group of robbers, only when they are beaten and hurt is it time to talk.

Leon puffed out his chest slightly, inhaled deeply, and exhaled a chilling aura. He decided to use his ice breath to deal with the enemy.

"Whoosh!" A powerful gust of wind suddenly surged, followed by a biting cold that spread instantly throughout the base. Layer upon layer of ice rapidly spread across the buildings, seizing the weapons and ammunition inside. The soldiers, too, were frozen, though the ice on them was much thinner.

As the entire base became encased in ice, it looked like an ice crystal castle from a fairy tale. Leon nodded in satisfaction, then raised his fist and punched the base wall.

The punch, light and seemingly harmless, sent fine cracks racing outwards from the point of impact, covering the entire building. When the cracks reached a critical mass, the wall collapsed, shattering into a pile of ice-covered debris.

The collapse of this section triggered a chain reaction, and soon, the surrounding walls crumbled as well. The buildings, now brittle from the freezing temperatures, were no match for the force of Leon's punch. The military base fell apart, with debris scattering everywhere. The sound of ice breaking echoed like the shattering of jade stones or the song of phoenixes.

When everything finally stopped, the once towering military base was reduced to ruins. Fragments of ice-covered wreckage reflected the moonlight, creating a surreal and eerie beauty. Leon landed on the frozen ground, stepping on the ruins, the sharp cracks beneath his feet echoing in the silence.

Before him lay the only thing left of the military base: the Eagle's soldiers. Thousands of them, frozen unconscious in the ice. While they would undoubtedly face health problems later, their lives were safe. Leon's control over his power was precise, destroying the base's structures and weapons without harming the soldiers.

He had dealt them a "small punishment" and sent a "big warning."

"You asked for it," Leon muttered, his eyes turning red. He shot out heat rays from his eyes, their maximum temperature capable of surpassing the surface of the sun and burning everything in their path.

Yet, when the heat rays swept over the frozen soldiers, they only managed to thaw the ice. His control was so fine-tuned that nothing more happened.

"Hoo! Hoo! So cold!" one soldier stammered. "He's… he's Superman! There is actually Superman in this world?!"

"We were just provoking Superman!?"

As the soldiers thawed, they collapsed, clutching their bodies or each other to generate warmth. They stared at Leon, now standing amidst the ruins. No one dared to breathe loudly. Even a few lieutenant colonels with three bars on their shoulders were silent, their arrogance gone.

Leon didn't wait for a response. "Now, I officially inform you to withdraw from Asia within a week," he said coldly, his voice like a blade ready to fall. "Otherwise, I'll come again. Don't say I didn't warn you."

The ice beneath his feet glowed faintly in the moonlight, refracting an eerie blue light. To the soldiers, Leon now seemed like a cold blade hanging above their heads, ready to strike at any moment.

There was a long silence, broken only by the faint sounds of shivering soldiers. No one dared to speak.

Leon turned and took off into the sky, leaving the base behind. He knew that these soldiers, along with the few mid-level officers among them, had no authority to agree to troop withdrawals. Leon had to continue demonstrating his strength to make the Eagles hesitant about taking further action. To fully resolve the situation, he would need to eliminate Hydra and possibly deploy a nuclear bomb.

"The next target is twenty-six kilometers to the east," Leon said to himself, his speed increasing as he rocketed toward his next destination. He had spent only three minutes at the first base—from the time he flew over until the moment the base collapsed and he left. His plan was to neutralize all the Eagle bases before the satellites overhead could react.

In the past hour, the sky above him had become crowded with satellites. First, the Eagles added two high-precision ones. Then, seeing the situation escalate, their neighbors sent one. Finally, all five permanent members of the United Nations sent satellites. The sky was now buzzing with activity, as though there was a meeting taking place.

Leon didn't mind at all. In fact, he hoped every country would send their satellites and broadcast the event live so that the people suffering under the Eagles could witness firsthand how their bases were being destroyed.

Meanwhile, Tony was still on his way to the scene.

"Jarvis, what do you mean Leon didn't answer my call and ran off to deal with the army base himself?" Tony spoke into his communicator. "That was supposed to be my job!"

"Sir, do you mean you were also planning to attack the Eagle's base?" Jarvis asked, sounding perplexed.

"Attack? No, no, no," Tony grinned. "Your word isn't quite right. What I'm going to do is help relieve them of their excess ammunition!"

"I see, so you plan to do what Young Master Leon did?" Jarvis asked. "Destroy the Eagle's firepower and drive them out of the area?"

"Is that what he's planning to do?" Tony chuckled. "That kid is always stealing my thunder!"

"I'm going to have a word with them," Tony continued, "The Eagles sent Jericho to a terrorist organization without authorization. I need to know why."
