Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 - Walking Calamity

The night went by fine in Tomia's chamber, the clean-up crew were used to such things happening in the facility, especially in Tomia's chamber. The room just like before was pristine white clean.

Tomia was laying in her bed, she had an appointment to be tested again one day, she'd be staring at the ceiling, the blanket over her pulled up to her mouth as she was curled up in it, seemingly lost in thought.

"This is upsetting, they didn't feed me this morning because of the tests today…I don't wanna go anywhere but lay in bed and read. Why do I have to put up with their nonsense"

As she lay there a metallic sound coming from the door filled the silence in the room that was only broken up by the hum of the lights, the door unlocked and opened.

Two guards stood in the door as they stared at Tomia, clad in DHC Hunter Gear.

Tomia could feel some distaste in her mouth every time these men came to her, she never felt safe around them. Except for Gokkumon, and a few others who came to see her and treated her well.

"Subject TI, you are to be transported to the laboratory X-7 at this instant for testing. Step forth so we can shackle you for our safety"

One of the guards barked an order. Tomia with a bored look on her face dragged herself out of bed as her feet plapped onto the cold sterile floor.

"Let me at least dress up before we go, so I'm not walking around in underwear"

Tomia said, expecting some privacy and some common sense to let her dress up before they set out, but one of the guards barked again.

"You should have gotten dressed before, you knew you had testing today. There is no time to waste so I demand again, step forth and follow our orders unless we'll have to be forceful"

"Annoying" Tomia thought to herself, looking down onto herself with a heavy sigh as she stepped forward, and not wanting to listen to some barks of the man she raised her arms to be cuffed.

"You lot sure are a headache"

She mumbled as she looked up at them, an annoyed look on her face that showed no fear.

The Guard looked down at her with a gulp, he brought cuffs forward and put them around Tomia's wrists and started walking through the hallways.

Tomia out of habit followed not giving much resistance, but something still stirred within her, her head was foggy, usually she'd be cheerful and energetic but now she was the opposite.

The walk felt long for Tomia, her head was twirling with many thoughts, mainly why she's letting them boss her around, why they're not treating her like Gokkumon is, why did they not her the decency of letting her dress up, questions that were left unanswered, her ears would twitch as she'd overhear the two guards talking about her.

"Did you hear it? She killed another one yesterday. Ripped his arm off and jammed her hand through his throat, Gokkumon then cleared it up…seriously more people are gonna die thanks to that jackass and his stupid decisions"

The other guard scoffed as he gave Tomia a bit of a side-eye and then looked to his fellow.

"I don't get why we can't just put this monster to sleep, what if she snaps at us like she did at the poor guy yesterday?"

Tomia would stop in her tracks as she'd look down at the floor, then at the cuffs on her hands and then on her overly exposed body.

"What did I do to deserve this? Why do they keep calling me a monster, I just wanna go back to bed and rest…I'm scared"

The guards would look back and see that Tomia had stopped in her tracks and one of them barked with a single step towards her.

"Subject TI, keep walking!"

Tomia would continue looking down with a frown on her face.

"My name.."

The guards looked at each other in confusion as one of them uttered a shaky.

"W-What?"

Tomia's fists would clench, the claws slowly appearing around her fingers again.

"Use my name…why can't you just use my name!"

Tomia would snap as she looked up, slight tears appearing in her eyes that were filled with grief yet rage at the same time.

The guards took a step back, taking a tighter grip on their rifles, hesitating on what to do, the one in the back raised it.

"Subject TI! Calm yourself!'

The very moment he raised the rifle Tomia's eyes would close as the claws around her fingers would fully form.

"You humans are the worst"

Tomia muttered to herself as a boney appendage striked out from the back of her spine, being at least 8m long with a large sharp spike at the end with the shades of blue along the entire tail.

A resounding thud as the tail hit the ground, the guards hesitated but one of the guards out of fear squeezed his finger to fire at Tomia.

Tomia without an issue weaved her head to the side as her tail had flew towards the same guard at such a high speed, that he could barely even see it, but before he could react he found his chest impaled through-and-through as the tail raised him slightly up in the air, the blood oozing from the large wound as he dropped his rifle and grabbed onto the tail, he opened his mouth to scream but only gurgles came out as blood started pooling out of his mouth.

The other guard could only stare at his impaled comrade in horror, his grip around the rifle loosening and trying to make a run for it…yet, before he could do anything else.

A sound of breaking metal and then a clank, a gust of wind pushed past him, as he looked down from to see what it was he saw the cuffs that Tomia had around her arms ripped and on the floor, he turned around and saw Tomia standing right behind him with her back turned her hair swaying as 3 claw marks appeared on his neck, that would slowly start to draw blood, from shock or from something else, the guard fell to his knees, looked up at his comrade one last time and then to the ceiling as if to call out for god, and then fell face first into the floor, blood pooling beneath him, tainting the pristine floor with blood, and the body of his comrade painting the walls.

Tomia stood there for a second, looked down at the bodies and thought for a second as the tail that just emerged from her spine flicked to let the body impaled on it drop to the floor. She was confused…why did this thing just appear out of nowhere? Why were these men so bad to her, she had to do it…they called her a monster, they would hurt her if she didn't defend herself.

For a split second she thought back on the day that her mother died, the way her mother towered over her to protect her child, the way the men in the same clothes slashed at her mother's body…the way that Tomia clutched on her dead mother, and then–fear, blood and death.

These were the same people that hurt her many years ago, they've been holding her here for nine years. She walked slowly through the hallway, her tail dragging across the floor making a loud scraping sound as it pulled through the pool of the blood she spilled, marking the floor with brushes of blood across the pristine floor even further into the facility.

As she walked Tomia's mind became even foggier as her heart raced.

"Gokkumon…you're the one who brought me here, you lied to me…it's not safe here, never was."

The tears in the corner of her eyes started spilling as her blank faced stared off in the distance as she walked, the sounds of her footsteps filling the quiet hallways.

Soon the silence would be broken with flashing bright red lights and alarm sounds that ripped at Tomia's ears.

Tomia crouched down and covered her ears, covering herself as she stared blankly on the ground as her tears fell.

"Make it stop, why is this place so painful"

She thought to herself as the comms rustled and a loud voice broke through.

"Subject TI is on the loose! All units stay on guard, unarmed personeel make your way to the evacuation center, Subject TI is in the lower levels and is slowly making her way to the elevators, all units are advised to practice maximum caution and stay in groups! This is not a drill Subject TI has broken free and has killed two guards already!"

As the comms kept repeating this message, Tomia felt her head spin as she opened her mouth and kept muttering to herself.

"Make it stop–make it stop."

Within a couple of minutes the hallway was then filled with 2 squads of DHC hunters, as the leaders of each squad did a hand gesture seeing that two groups were at each end of the hallway, so as not to cause any friendly fire they pulled out their sidearms, and slowly approached Tomia, seeing as she was curled down they thought they had a chance, but…a blink of an eye as Tomia stood up, her tail surging towards a hunter closest to her, impaling him in an instant, flicking to the back to throw the dead body towards the other group that was making their way down the hallway, hitting a guard at the front of that group slowing them down, as Tomia herself clawed at the guards with precision, striking at their necks and vital parts of their chests as a true hunter would, blood sprayed across the walls, painting the hallway from white to red.

Tomia's body itself started to be covered in more and more blood, her snow white hair now having so much blood in it that it was basically crimson red now.

Once Tomia was done with this group, in a snap she made her way to the other group at the other end of the hallway, making them meet the same fate, not a single guard being able to even react properly before they were slain, their insides splatter across the room of their workplace.

When she was done Tomia stood amidst the carnage, her bare skin painted with blood, her hair, claws and tail dripping with blood also, she looked back with a blank stare and tears in her eyes, she then turned forwards again and almost as if by instinct made her way to a place where she believed would allow her to escape.

Minutes passed, the upper levels of the Facility were in chaos. Scientists scattering about trying to make their way out of here, some trying to make preventions so that Tomia could be stopped.

But the reports were coming in through the security folk, Tomia was making her way through the facility, leaving carnage behind her, making the once pristine laboratories resemble a slaughter house instead.

A loud thud could be heard at the end of a room where the elevator was as all the people in the upper level looked up and froze…she was here.

Chaos erupted as everyone shuffled around and started running to an exit, some guards even deserted their posts knowing damn well that they cannot stop the calamity that is making her way towards them.

Tomia tore through the elevator door and surged forward, her body even bloodier than before as she rushed towards, bloodlust and feral look on her face as she cut through every person that stood in her way, be they a guard, scientist, running or not…none deserved her mercy anymore.

Screams and cries of help filled the hallways of the upper levels, carnage made its way even to the exit area.

Tomia stood at a place that read exit, sealed shut by a large metal gate, without hesitation she punched her arm through the gate and pushed both her hands in there and ripped it apart and stepped outside, freezing chill hit her bare skin as she walked forwards. The cold concrete covered in snow bit into her bare feet, but Tomia didn't care.

"So pretty…"

Tomia thought to herself as she watched the snow fall, in a way calming her down as she walked forwards and looked up at the sky, the snow settling on her blood covered body, in a way giving her colors back..only for it to melt at the touch of the warm blood.

She was finally free, away from the evil humans that kept her here for Nine years, finally she got to breathe in the fresh air of outside in what felt like eternity…it was so beautiful, so serene and calm.

Tomia had walked for about 2 hours, the blood on her body now dry and her skin showing some colors of red from the cold as it reacted to the chill, though due to Tomia's demonic blood she was more than resistant to the cold, even though she still felt it.

She made her way through a forest, the pine trees towering over her as she walked across the snow, her tail leaving a trail in the snow, she hugged herself to warm herself up a little, her gentle slow breaths making puffs of smoke as her warm breath met air.

She didn't know where to go now, she didn't know what to do or how to feel..but she knew that she's finally free.

Back in the facility, Gokkumon along with 4 other people at his side, to his right a Tall imposing man in his 30's with black short hair and an eye patch stood at his side, he was very brawny, his only brown eye burned with intensity, wearing the same uniform on a Pauldron the Number 2 etched into it.

On the left of Gokkumon was a shorter woman in her mid 20's, she had long green hair tied into a pony-tail, she held onto a katana at her hip. Wearing the same uniform as Gokkumon only with a longer skirt, her green eyes were gentle yet intense at the same time, the number 3 etched into her pauldrons.

To the side of this girl stood a younger looking girl, about 18 years old, she had a bounce in her step and seemed much more energetic in the group, she had her arms behind her head as she looked around, fiery ginger short hair with a very tomboyish styling with darker green eyes and a more trimmed uniform the others were wearing, having more of shorts and shorter sleeves, the number 4 etched into her pauldrons.

And lastly at the side of the tall man with the eye patch stood a younger man in his later 20's, with blonde hair and a angry look on his face, a bit of a slouch as he carried a spear over his shoulder, giving off very rebellious stance, his uniform the same of Gokkumon and the older man, the number 5 etched into his pauldrons.

These were the top 5 hunters in JDHC (Japanese DHC). The most elite of hunters and commanders of the JDHC forces.

Gokkumon scanned the room as he stood among the carnage with horror in his eyes.

"So she actually broke free…I feared this day would happen"

The ginger haired girl spoke up as she stepped to examine a body left behind, a scientist with his throat basically torn out.

"I hoped that we'd be able to convince the committee before she broke out…but even then, she left quite the…slaughter in her stead."

The girl said as she stood up and scanned the room.

The green haired girl stepped forwards and looked towards the ginger haired girl.

"I agree…Tanmachi, I hoped that we'd find a way to be able to prevent this from happening but it appears we were too slow…and the people paid the price"

Tanmachi frowned a little as she looked towards the green haired girl.

The blonde haired guy stepped forth and spoke with a brash voice. Looking at the green haired girl.

"Well no point crying over spilt milk…committee won't let this slip past, they're gonna blame us for it all Miyuki, I kept saying that keeping Tomia around would bring trouble."

Miyuki snapped her head towards the guy and heaved her chest as she took a deep breath.

"Ain't you the genius Bocchi"

She retorted

The tall man with an eye patch stepped forwards and took a stomp on the ground.

"Stop bickering you two, none of us could've seen this coming. Tomia was pretty calm as some of us have seen…we could not have foreseen her cracking so early on"

Gokkumon stepped into the middle of them all and placed his shoulder on the man with an eye patch.

"Thank you Gahu, but I will have to take responsibility for this. Afterall I was the one who insisted that we keep Tomia here and monitor her before we can get her verified as a living being and not a monster to the committee. One way or another according to the reports, Tomia managed to kill 46 people here and 19 were left wounded but in a very bad condition."

Miyuki looked at Gokkumon with a sad look on her face as she crossed her arms and looked around the room.

"This part of the job never gets easy, knowing that so many families were ruined in less than an hour…but I guess if you get in this part of job you know your life is at risk at any moment…but still it feels depressing to know that around 46 families won't see their fathers or mothers come back home again. And don't blame yourself alone for this Gokkumon, me and Tanmachi were also speaking up for Tomia, we're as much at fault as you are"

Gokkumon shook his head and took off his glasses to wipe them, a frown showing on his face as he looked towards the hallway that led to the entrance.

"I guess you're right, I guess all we can hope for now is that Tomia does not cause any more havoc outside and take more lives that will stand in her way, but I think that as long as nobody will be threatening her…she'll not hurt anyone. But I just know we'll be forced to try and go hunt her down, which will cost even more lives, but the committee won't have it any other way after this I bet. One way or another, spread out through the facility team…find any survivors and start securing the area…so much demonic activity in one place could rile up the demons that are secure in their cells and could convince them to start to be more aggressive and try to break out."

The 4 nodded as they walked towards the elevator, meanwhile Gokkumon stood in the room still staring at the hallway leading to the exit and thought to himself.

"Tomia…you stupid girl, I promised you I'd come back haven't I? Now you're out there alone and probably afraid…stay safe."
