Chapter 3 - mistaken

While I was overthinking for about 5 minutes, the door suddenly opened…

*Creak*

"My lady! I have the Doctor with me, he's Mr. Franz. He will help you with your recovery."

The woman brought in a man who's probably in his 50's with a small stature and is on a slightly chubbier side. The man upon arriving made a 45 degree bow in front of me.

"My lady, it is my pleasure to be of help to you."

This feels awkward.

"Uhh… yeah"

After the awkward introduction, he went close to my side and checked my pulse. He asked me questions about how my body is feeling and all, so I just answered every single thing he asked. After that, he switched his posture and looked me in the eye. Then began asking for a different type of information.

"My lady, do you remember your full name?"

"Uh… Yeah, my name is Aria… Aria Van Hagen."

"My lady, you must be mistaken with your last name. You are indeed Lady Aria, but you are Lady Aria Lanchester, from the House of Lanchester. Do you remember?"

It took me a bit of time to process what he said…

"Huh? I'm sorry, I believe you're the one who's mistaken. I know my name and it's Aria Van Hagen and I hate to break it with you but I'm not Aria Lanchester. I think you've mistaken me for someone else."

While I was kindly explaining to them the truth, the woman suddenly burst into tears which was honestly alarming…

*sob*sob*

The doctor proceeded with his strange diagnosis.

"My lady, you might still be in the process of shock right now, that's why you can't remember most of your memories so—

"I have all my memories intact. Again, I'm telling you, I'm not the person your looking for—

"My lady, do you really not remember me? *sob*sob* It's me, Rosen.. Your personal maid, I've been with you my lady ever since you were born. S-so how could—

"What do you mean by personal maid? I don't own a maid, again it's my first time seeing you today."

Crazy, what kind of situation is this? Am I dreaming or something?

"My lady, it's okay if you are still in a state of confusion or can't remember most of your memory. This is only natural since you have suffered from severe lack of air just two days ago—

"Two days ago?! It's been two days already? D-did you call the police? I mean, I remember I was drowning and I was stabbed. T-there was this psycho who was trying to kill me! I managed to jump but he was still able to throw a dagger at me. It hurt so much that I wasn't able to swim.. wait...! I remember I was stabbed so there should be a wound…? Huh?"

*thump*thump*

W-why is there no wound? Why can't I feel any discomfort from this part of my body? I clearly remember the feeling of being stabbed. Also given that it's only been two days, the wound which felt deep can't possibly heal right away…

"My lady, I beg to differ, but when we saw you in the lake there were no stabbed wounds, there were no other physical injuries either."

I could feel my anxiety increasing…

"Then can you tell me where I am? Do you have a phone or telephone that I can use? I have to go back home, my family must be distraught right now."

When I said those words, the Doctor and Rosen looked at each other in confusion. In the end it was Rosen who talked.

"My lady, we're in one of your family's summer villas, we're in the City of Perion in the southeast of the empire. Also, we don't have a p-phone. But no worries my lady, we've already sent a letter to the dukedom and they would be able to receive it after a week or so. It wouldn't take too long for us to go back—

"S-stop.. stop right there"

"My lady?"

"I don't have any idea what you're talking about."

*thump*thump*

I must be dreaming or hallucinating. This can't be real…

I have to go back home, I need to get out of this place…
