"Winnie," he sighed.
"Just tell me Ethan, I just want to know," Winnie pleaded, her eyes filling with tears.
"I love you, okay? I really do." His voice broke, and he shut his eyes, as if saying it out loud made it more real.
"I love you, I really do," he whispered, and a lone tear slipped away from his eyes.
Winnie took a step back. This was the first time she would be seeing him this vulnerable.
"I just want to keep you safe because being with me can endanger your life. I'd rather see you being happy than to suffer with me," he confessed.
Winnie took a deep breath, unable to utter any words.
"I don't know why you keep saying I might endanger my life because I'm with you, but I say we give it a try. I believe we can always overcome any challenges that come our way, don't you think so?" Winnie suggested.
She didn't care if being with him could endanger her life. Instead, she truly wanted to be with him.
"It's not that simple, Winnie," Ethan sighed as he rose to his feet.
