Chapter 15 - Ch 15: Ghost Protocol

Field Alpha was bathed in the cool blue glow of a holographic display, meticulously outlining Oscorp's discrete surveillance node. Gwen's fingers moved swiftly across the virtual blueprint, highlighting corridors, camera blind spots, and crucial access points. Her expression was intense, focused on every minute detail. Opposite her, Luffy stood silently, absorbing every aspect of their meticulously planned mission.

"This is it," Gwen said decisively. "If we get this right, Oscorp loses any data they have on us. They'll have to start from scratch."

"If we get it wrong," Luffy replied calmly, "we become Oscorp's primary targets. Permanently."

Gwen nodded firmly. "I'll handle the data wipe. Your job is to keep them away from me until it's done."

"Consider it done," Luffy assured her, a quiet confidence in his voice.

She pulled out a slender, custom-built device from her bag. "This'll let me rapidly delete our biometric data and plant the false identities. They'll chase ghosts—permanently."

Luffy grinned slightly. "Then let's haunt them for real."

Under a moonless sky, Gwen and Luffy approached Oscorp's remote surveillance node—camouflaged as an innocuous power relay station. Its mundane exterior hid its critical importance in Oscorp's surveillance infrastructure.

Gwen crouched next to the main access panel, carefully inserting her electronic bypass tool. It hummed briefly, then the panel clicked open smoothly. They exchanged a brief, silent nod and slipped inside.

The corridor ahead was bathed in pale fluorescent light, lined with security cameras swiveling methodically. Gwen's spider-sense sharpened immediately, guiding her gracefully between surveillance arcs. Luffy followed closely, eyes closed, trusting entirely in his Observation Haki to maneuver through unseen sensor fields.

"Left, now," he whispered, guiding Gwen through an invisible grid of detection lasers. She twisted fluidly, navigating perfectly through the narrow spaces.

They reached the first security checkpoint. Gwen immediately disabled the camera with a precise web shot, muffling the subtle alarms with a secondary device that jammed nearby signals. Moving seamlessly, they slipped through a side door and descended toward the heavily secured data center.

Inside the darkened data core, Gwen swiftly approached the primary terminal. Her heartbeat quickened, a sharp awareness that their entire future hinged on the next few minutes. She connected her device, her fingers dancing swiftly over the controls, initiating the complex deletion and ghost protocol.

The screens flickered, rapidly displaying cascades of data as her device infiltrated Oscorp's secured servers. However, the room soon pulsed with soft red lights as hidden alarms triggered.

"They've noticed," Luffy warned quietly, his senses expanding. "They're coming."

"Hold them off," Gwen responded urgently. "I need four minutes."

Luffy took position at the entrance, hearing the rapid approach of security drones and guards. The first drone breached the doorway, its scanning beam instantly finding him. He reacted quicker, his elongated arms snapping forward.

"Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" he called quietly, his fist slamming through the drone, disabling it instantly. The next wave was faster—smarter. Oscorp security drones poured in, followed by heavily armored security personnel.

Luffy moved fluidly, his limbs stretching and snapping through the room with pinpoint accuracy. He fought defensively, strategically using his elasticity and Haki to predict and counter each enemy's moves. Each second counted, each attack precise, as he kept the battle contained and far from Gwen.

Meanwhile, Gwen worked feverishly, navigating Oscorp's sophisticated security layers. Sweat dripped down her temple, her fingers nearly blurring with effort as she neutralized security countermeasures in real-time. The system struggled to lock her out, but she was faster—guided by instinct and determination.

"Two more minutes!" she called out.

"I can hold them," Luffy responded firmly, barely dodging an energy blast that scorched the wall behind him. He retaliated swiftly, knocking down two more drones with a powerful sweep of his stretched arm.

Gwen's device flashed green—biometric data deletion complete. Now for the decoy protocol. She uploaded falsified records, carefully crafted ghost profiles designed to lead Oscorp astray. Her breath came quicker as the percentage bar ticked closer to completion.

"Almost there!" she yelled.

Luffy pivoted sharply, sensing a drone behind him moments before it struck. With a sharp twist, he crushed it against the wall. A final guard rushed in, stun baton extended, but Luffy intercepted easily, knocking him unconscious with a precise jab.

"Done!" Gwen shouted triumphantly. She disconnected instantly, the terminal darkening.

"Let's move!" Luffy called urgently, leading Gwen through a prearranged escape route. They dashed through hidden passages and air vents, perfectly choreographed and well-practiced. Oscorp's security forces converged on their previous location, far too late.

Emerging into the cool night air, they quickly scaled a nearby rooftop, finding safety above the sprawling city lights. The adrenaline slowly subsided, leaving them breathless and exhilarated.

"Did it work?" Luffy asked softly, breathing heavily.

Gwen quickly checked her portable device. A satisfied smile lit her face. "Every piece of data erased. The ghost protocols are active. Oscorp just lost us."

They sat side by side, gazing over the city, a profound sense of relief washing over them.

"No more running," Gwen whispered, her voice steady. "We finally control our narrative."

Luffy nodded, a serious but confident expression on his face. "This is just the beginning."

As dawn began breaking over New York, Gwen took out the Power Journal. Carefully, she wrote:

"We became ghosts tonight. Oscorp has no hold over us. From now on, we dictate the terms. We fight from the shadows, stronger and smarter."

She turned to Luffy, her voice filled with newfound certainty. "I think it's time we made it official."

"Agreed," Luffy replied quietly, turning his hat gently in his hands. He placed it firmly on his head, eyes glowing with determination. "I'm Strawhat."

Gwen smiled softly, pulling her mask carefully into place. "And I'm Ghost-Spider."

They stood together, silhouettes strong against the morning light, officially stepping into their roles as protectors hidden in shadow.

"The world's about to change," Gwen said softly, eyes fixed on the horizon.

"It already has," Luffy replied firmly. "But now we'll be ready for whatever comes next."

Their gazes locked, acknowledging everything they'd overcome to reach this moment—their trials, mistakes, growth, and unshakable trust. Together, they faced the rising sun, prepared for the dawn of a new era.

Oscorp had hunted them, tried to contain and control them—but tonight, they reclaimed their freedom. From now on, they would move unseen, vigilant protectors hidden beneath carefully crafted identities.

They were ready for the battles ahead. Ready for the world that was rapidly approaching—one filled with extraordinary heroes and unimaginable threats.

But above all, they were ready to fight together, stronger than ever.
