Memories belonged to the soul. That was why if one gets possessed by a ghost, they could access the memories. If memories stayed with the body, there would be no resentment or ghosts.
Everything that Gu Yuze knew told him clearly that there was no reason that he should be getting the memories of the little ghost king.
