The battle went on until boulders and giant arrow bolts started raining down the eastern field.
[Talk to me or Zecht if anything happens. We need to stay in touch and be alert of everything that's happening throughout the Quintal Trial.]
I said to Ashta after she replaced Jyrgil as party leader.
The battle at the frontline raged on, turning more intense by the second.
[Hahaha! I'll prove those elders wrong! I'll prove that witch wrong! I'll prove to everyone that I'm the strongest!]
Jyrgil screamed as he swung his axe toward the horde of goblins charging toward him.
Boom!
Siege towers were blown to bits by the exploding arrows Tarran and Ashta fired from the walls.
They could barely use those projectiles on the walls unless they wanted to bring the entire structure down, which defeated the purpose of them being there in the first place.
But no matter how many towers they brought down, one or two more would slip away and ported themselves on the battlements, like warding off ocean waves.
['Tamo (★★)' has been inflicted with bleeding. His stamina will be reduced for a period of time.]
As more goblins poured in, a member of Party 3 got himself stabbed on the thigh.
Ashta quickly rescued him with her dagger and pulled her comrade to the rear.
[Quick! Use the health potion and get back to fighting! I'll cover you!]
She told him.
After a while, another member would get hurt and Ashta would force them aside as the recovered member took the injured one's place.
The new party leader, herself, would maneuver throughout the walls wherever the situation was direst.
It was almost the same with Party 2 as well.
['Luan (★★)' has been inflicted with bleeding. Her stamina will be reduced for a period of time.]
As one of them got hurt, Tarran instead would swoop in and cover them as they recover.
The boy swiftly scrambled himself all over the battlement to aid his comrades.
[Don't worry about the monsters, sister Luan, uncle Maddock! Just focus on recovering your wounds! I'll take care of them as you heal!]
With steps as light as a feather and daggers extended from both his hands, the errand boy would dash around the goblins and sliced their throats before they even realized he was there.
['Tarran (★★)'s Basic Dagger Technique has levelled up to level 4!]
['Tarran (★★)'s Nimble Movement has levelled up to level 2!]
['Tarran (★★)' has obtained the skill, 'Stealthy Movement'!]
Dear me, the boy was talented!
Had I known his potential, I would had probably bring him with us to the fifth floor.
The eastern side of the city was where most of the monster army was situated.
Party 2 faced thrice as many enemies Party 3 faced on their side.
But with a talented fighter such as Tarran and two 3-star heroes within their ranks, Party 2 had no great difficulties fighting off the hostiles.
However, as the fighting went on, more and more enemies piled on the outer walls.
Monster corpses were strewn all over the battlement that in some places there were only corpses to step on.
[We're halfway there. Can you guys hold on? Some of us in Party 1 can go back and help if you need us.]
I spoke to the party leaders after we cleared the dam.
Just like how I remembered, the two party leaders turned down my offer.
Had I known any better, I would had send three members from Party 1 back to them despite what they said to me. Maybe four.
[Serafina and her party is halfway to the valley! Hang in there, everyone!]
Zecht rallied his comrades as they fought against the hordes of goblins climbing over the walls.
[Stay focused! Party 1 is almost there! I don't give a damn about that Jyrgil! But at least all four of us are going back to the lobby!]
Ashta shouted at hers as they bathed in the goblins' dark blood.
The two parties kept on fighting against the endless waves of enemies.
The warriors took turns battling the monsters as one of them rests.
The archers retrieved the arrows they sent to save their projectiles and made their shots count if they thought their arrows would no longer be retrievable.
Disregarding pain, each member used their limited health potion only to the injuries that hindered their movement.
Had they only possessed basic health potion, some of their wounds would not recover well or fast enough before they had to return to the fighting.
Even with intermediate and advanced health potions, they barely had the time to recover and switch out their formation.
Had these heroes been less than 2-stars, they would not even be able to attempt this maneuver.
Each party was hanging on by a thin rope guarding the walls.
The Quintal Trial was getting fiercer on their sides. But it was still manageable in a sense.
That was until…
[Zecht, Ashta, Party 1 just discovered an unknown temple. We're taking a little detour to investigate it.]
Those words were precisely the ones I spoke in the trial.
Given the intense battle they were already preoccupied with, the two party leaders only briefly told the news to their comrades and urged them to focus with their own fight at hand.
More and more goblins poured into the battlements. There was barely any clear ground for their steps to land on.
Despite how hard the party leaders tried to keep their comrades in high spirit, fatigue started to creep in.
[How much longer should we fight these monsters, Ashta?!]
Rhyss of Party 3 asked. His spear was skewered deep into a goblin's skull.
[If you have that much time to ask that question, you better spend it to kill another goblin!]
The woman snapped back at him as she gutted a green creature with her dagger.
[Hahaha! Nobody can stop me!]
Jyrgil's roar resounded from beyond the walls.
He was standing atop a mountain of dead goblins and ogres. Striking down those that tried to climb to him.
[Urgh, that bastard is going to be more insufferable if he survives this trial.]
Kori said, eyeing the 3-star while impaling two monsters at once with her elongated weapon.
Her comrades around her nodded strongly.
[Tell me about it! He'll brag about how he conquered the battlefield on his own. As if he did not have the Loro soldiers backing him up.]
Tamo replied as he decapitated a goblin with his sword.
[Just an arrow to the head and it'll be over. Just one goblin's arrow and he'll—TAMO, LOOK OUT!]
Ashta suddenly screamed to her comrade.
But her voice could not reach him in time. For the goblin Tamo just decapitated suddenly stood up, headless, and pierced its machete through his chest.
['Tamo (★★)' is on the brink of death. His life is in danger!]
Ashta and her other comrades looked in horror.
Suddenly, all of the dead goblins had risen from the floor.
Their torn limbs and headless necks had grown new flesh and skull as if they were never injured in the first place.
[GRAHHHHHHH!]
Jyrgil's gurgling voice roared from the beyond the walls once again.
The mountain of corpses he stood on had become alive once more and swallowed him whole.
The huge man was butchered into unrecognizable pieces as the mountain devoured him.
['Jyrgil (★★★)' has returned to the Goddesses' embrace! His fighting spirit will be remembered forever.]
