Chapter 10 - Fighting against 3 Goblin Captains at once! (2)

The moment the three goblins had almost reached Kai, they ignored the low-level undead goblins as their attention was fully focused on him.

Looking at the ferocious goblin captains in front of him, Kai only smiled as he cracked his neck and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

Fortunately, they took the bait by coming towards him as he had 'purposely' shown his strength that was just a little bit stronger than theirs when he was killing the low-level goblins.

Otherwise, if he directly showed his full strength, they might even hesitate or flee since they shouldn't be that stupid to attack someone who's much stronger than themselves.

When the short sword- and saber-wielder goblin captains had passed the undead goblins, Kai immediately welcomed them and fought them head-on for a bit while waiting for an opportunity to kill one of them in a single strike.

At the same time, he ordered his undead goblins to intercept the mace wielder.

As Kai danced gracefully between the two goblin captains' attacks, he didn't forget to inflict small damages to their bodies since he wanted a clean sweep kill.

After a few seconds of exchanging moves between each other, Kai found an opening and immediately used his [Resurrection of the Dead] skill on the dead Goblin Captain and ordered it to sneak attack the saber-wielder goblin captain.

Slash!

The undead Goblin Captain slashed deeply at the back of the saber-wielder goblin, severely injuring it, as it hadn't expected that the dead Goblin Captain would suddenly come back to life and attack it.

Taking advantage of the goblin that arched its back to the front in pain as it cried in agony, Kai immediately used his full strength and moved at an extremely fast speed towards the saber-wielder goblin as he intended to finish it off.

Slash!

Slashing a swift diagonal slash aimed at the goblin's neck, Kai easily beheaded the goblin as the sharp blade left behind a beautiful thin, shimmering blue trail.

Before the dead goblin's body could fall to the ground, Kai had already ordered the undead goblin captain to help his undead goblins and hold the mace-wielder goblin captain so that it couldn't escape.

Without giving the short-sword wielder goblin a chance to recover from the sudden loss of its ally, Kai immediately closed the distance between them.

His movements were swift and precise, as his agility far surpassed the goblin's, making each of its defensive reactions look clumsy in comparison.

Clang!

Clang!

Blade clashed as the Goblin Captain desperately swung its short sword, trying to fend off Kai's onslaught.

However, it was all just a futile effort since each of Kai's strikes was sharper, faster, and heavier, fueled by overwhelming strength and near-perfect coordination.

Noticing that the mace-wielder goblin was trying its best to flee from the scene, Kai thought that it was time to finish it off.

He then used the [Azure Slash] skill, channeling his mana into the blade as a soft azure glow enveloped the sword's edge.

With a single step forward, Kai slashed horizontally through the air, sending out a wave of condensed water-attributed mana that surged forward like a crescent blade, cutting through the goblin's body with ease.

Swoosh!

The azure slash tore across the Goblin Captain's chest cleanly, slashing its body into two. Blood arced through the air as the goblin's upper body slid down and collapsed to the ground together with the lower body with a heavy thud.

Afterwards, Kai used his [Resurrection of the Dead] skill on the two dead Goblin Captains and ordered them to help the first undead Goblin Captain in killing the last Goblin Captain, who wielded a mace as its weapon.

While he was at it, he noticed that the first undead Goblin Captain was at a disadvantage since he was bombarded with desperate attacks one after another, as the last Goblin Captain was trying its best to flee, resulting in cracks in some of the undead Goblin Captain's bones.

Using his [Heal] skill, Kai immediately healed the first undead Goblin Captain's injuries before gathering all of the low-level undead goblins except his first undead goblin that was bound with the undead space.

Subsequently, Kai went towards the alley and approached the dumpster once again and noticed that the girl he had saved was still there while looking at him, her body was trembling unknowingly.

Kai ignored her as he walked over towards the dumpster.

After taking a deep breath, Kai opened the dumpster and saw his little sister was frightened, hugging her immobile legs and closing her ears and eyes tightly.

"Nana, it's already over…" Kai petted her hair softly. "You don't need to be afraid anymore because I will always protect you."

The little girl felt the familiar hand petting her hair and immediately opened her eyes with the hope that it was really his brother and he would be okay.

The moment she saw his brother, she instantly cried loudly, letting out her feelings, as she had been terrified the whole time, thinking that because of her disability, her brother was forced to be here to protect her.

"Hey, hey, hey… Don't cry." Kai picked up Nana and put her on the dumpster's cover before helping her to wipe her tears.

"Nana, stop crying, okay? Because we need to go home as soon as possible since we don't know about Mom and Dad's situation yet." Kai smiled and pinched her cheek softly.

When Nana heard about their parents' unknown situation and that they might even be in danger, she instantly tried her best to stop crying and started to sob softly with a worried expression as she looked at her brother.

"They should be fine, but we still need to go there in case something bad might happen to them." Kai tried his best to calm her sister down so that she wouldn't be worried about anything and feel safe with him around.

"Hmm-hmmm, Nana understands." Nana wiped her snot and nodded seriously, looking really cute.

"Alright then, let's get going since the fight should be over any second now." Kai smiled and pinched her cheek before carrying her with his left hand.

As Kai was about to take a step towards the outside of the alley, he heard a weak female voice behind her.

"W-wait!"

Kai tilted his body and looked at the girl, suddenly remembering that this existed since his thoughts were filled with going towards home as soon as possible, and he didn't even care about her life.

"What?!" Kai asked coldly, narrowing his eyebrows as he felt unhappy since she just interrupted him while he was thinking about the next plan.

"I…Can I…Ummm…" The girl seemingly hesitated for a few seconds and immediately made up her mind when she saw that Kai was already about to walk away again. "What is your house's direction?"

"West, why?" Kai replied with a weird expression as he didn't know why this girl asked such a question.

When the girl heard that Kai was going to head west, she was immediately overjoyed for a second before hesitating once again.

She then asked while biting her bottom lip unknowingly. "Ummm, can I join you?"

Kai immediately frowned upon hearing it, thinking what she was up to by wanting to join him.

The girl immediately waved her hands and explained when she realized that Kai might have misunderstood something. "My home's direction is actually in the west too. I'm just wondering if I can follow you as far as I can towards my home."

Kai raised an eyebrow when he heard it, thinking to himself that he thought too much about everything.

"Why should I let you follow me?" Kai chuckled, smiling at the girl.

Before the girl could even reply, Kai snorted. "Hmmph! I've even saved your life once, yet I didn't even hear someone say thanks. Why should I let an ungrateful person follow me?"

Kai walked slowly towards the end of the alley after he said that.
