Chapter 11 - 11

Freya lay on the creaky wooden bed and spoke helplessly.

In her past life, leading a group of underlings was at least manageable. Even though she had to feed and protect them, she could order them around however she liked.

But this time, she was handed a bunch of living ancestors to serve? No way!

To hell with the so-called rewards from the heavens, let it all be destroyed.

"No no no, Freya, you just need to take care of your parents. After all, they gave you life and raised you.

Besides, didn't you save a lot of people in the apocalypse?

Just treat them like your underlings. If you eat meat, let them drink a bit of soup. That's good enough.

The rest, do whatever you want with them," System Tutu flattered her. Being this woman's underling was already a blessing.

"That was an equal exchange, alright? They worked, and I gave them food. I wasn't feeding them for free.

Whatever, better to live miserably than to die. You're sure I only have to care for my parents? If you change your mind later, I won't go along with it."

Seeing that System Tutu gave in, Freya's mood suddenly brightened. She took out a bunch of grapes and started eating cheerfully.

"Absolutely sure. Freya, System Tutu's service ends here. I wish you a colorful life in this era of revival. Have a pleasant journey!

Lastly, could you leave a good review, please?"

System Tutu disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

Right after, a review screen popped up in front of Freya's eyes:

Not satisfied, press 3

Satisfied, press 2

Very satisfied, press 1

Even the heavenly system is this competitive now?

Freya tilted her head, thought for a moment, then pressed 1 for very satisfied.

Poor thing, it even sounded like a kid trying to earn money to support a family.

Knock knock A sound came from the door.

Moments later, the door slowly opened.

"You're awake, right? Time for dinner.

It's too late today. Let's go to the commune tomorrow."

Brian sat on the stone steps outside her door. He didn't look at her, just stared calmly at the darkening sky with a distant expression.

Freya heard the familiar and pleasant male voice and knew this must be the original body's husband.

She sat up and adjusted her slightly messy clothes, then calmly responded, "Alright, I'll be right there."

Freya slowly lifted her gaze and turned toward Brian's direction.

As she stepped out of the door, her eyes unintentionally landed on Brian. It was like an invisible force was pulling her in—she couldn't look away.

"Oh my god."

Freya couldn't help but whisper in surprise.

Her large, sharp eyes widened, full of amazement.

Only one thought filled her mind: This man is way too handsome!

Freya crouched down to be at eye level with Brian. She leaned closer, eyes narrowing slightly as she looked him over.

His face looked like it was carved by a master sculptor—defined and gentle.

He had the refined elegance of a noble gentleman.

His bright eyes were like deep, clear lakes, and at the moment, they were looking at her with calm indifference.

He sat upright on the stone bench. Since it was hot, he wasn't wearing a shirt, only a pair of army green trousers.

In the countryside, no one cared much about that. Even in this era, it was normal for men to go shirtless in the summer.

Even while sitting down, Freya could still tell that he had a tall and well-proportioned figure, with smooth and natural muscle lines. He was the type who looked slim in clothes but muscular without them.

Probably because of regular military training, his skin wasn't fair. It was a wheat-colored tone.

But Freya liked it that way. She felt that his skin color and his looks had a strange but pleasing contrast.

His appearance, figure, and skin tone were exactly what she liked.

The only thing that didn't match was his clothes—they didn't suit his good looks and strong body. His face also looked a bit sickly and very tired. She thought she needed to help him recover.

At this point, she already saw Brian as her own.

As for divorce? Don't even think about it!

That was what the original Freya said, not her!

Brian felt awkward being stared at by Freya's intense and slightly strange gaze. He quickly picked up the jacket from the stone table and put it on.

It was called a jacket, but it was just two pieces of cloth folded and stitched together, with a rope around the waist to tie it.

It instantly covered his good figure.

Freya sighed with disappointment.

"Ahem, do you need anything else?

My legs are useless now, I can't help you move things tomorrow. You can take your time moving. If you're in a hurry, you can go back to the educated youth spot now."

When he mentioned being disabled, Brian lowered his eyes, hiding the frustration in his heart. He unconsciously rubbed his thighs.

He didn't regret saving his comrade. But losing the chance to return to the army and serve the country made him feel deeply sad.

"I'm not in a hurry to leave. I've decided not to divorce you. Let's live a good life together!"

Brian's words snapped Freya out of her obsession with his good looks. She immediately responded.

"Why?

Because of the 500 yuan?

Don't worry, I'll find a way to get Second Sister-in-law to hand over the money.

But you can't take all of it. You need to leave half. I have to live too."

Brian was confused at first, then suddenly understood. He spoke calmly.

No matter how bad things had been between them, they were indeed married. Now that they were getting a divorce, she deserved half of the compensation.

Who cares about that money? I want you!

"Uh, it's just that when I saw your legs injured, I panicked and got scared, so I asked for a divorce.

But now I've thought it through. Since we're married, we're a team. We should share good and bad times together. We can't just give up when something goes wrong. That would be irresponsible!

Anyway, I regret it. I won't divorce you. I've decided to stick with you!

No arguments allowed, I'm going to wash my hands."

That awful woman gave up such a handsome man and insisted on a divorce. What a waste. And she left Freya to clean up the mess. She deserved to be wiped out.

Yes, after System Tutu saw Freya's high approval rating, it told her as a thank-you that the original soul had been destroyed by the heavens because of being unfilial and disrespectful.

Freya spoke like a rascal and turned to fetch water from the water jar to wash her hands before eating.

Brian turned and stared in shock at her bouncing, energetic back. His deep eyes were full of disbelief.

Didn't she hate him and insist on a divorce?

Why the sudden change? Did she have another plan?

Brian shook his head and stopped thinking. Just let it be. Hopefully, she really wanted to live a good life with him.

In the 1970s, very few people actually got divorced. Most people just made things work as best they could.

He lowered his head and looked at his legs that no longer had any feeling. Ever since he woke up after the explosion, they had been like this.
