Chapter 2 - Meeting Mia's Parents

After calming down, Jake asked his girlfriend to lead the way. Although Mia didn't say anything, Jake had heard what she was thinking: "I hope I can convince my mother this time."

Jake smiled slightly. He felt relieved that his girlfriend's love was genuine.

Following Mia, breathing in the fragrance of flowers of various shapes and colors all around, Jake walked into the villa he both envied and yearned for, his heart pounding nervously.

There were no other servants in the villa, only a fixed cleaning staff who came every three days to maintain it.

Mia explained that her mother was often busy with company affairs and ate nearly all her meals outside. After her father retired, he became obsessed with leisure activities like fishing and chess. Aside from regular physical conditioning, his schedule was packed, and he hardly ever ate at home.

There was also a younger brother who lacked ambition, always fooling around outside and rarely staying overnight. The entire family usually only gathered in the villa on important holidays, and that was when her parents would cook together.

This Saturday happened to be the day her uncle and aunt were home.

After entering, Mia led Jake to the first-floor living room. Yakov had just finished a physical therapy session and was leisurely reading a newspaper on a wooden chair on the balcony.

"Dad, Mom," Mia called out in dissatisfaction. Even though she had informed them in advance about bringing her boyfriend home, her parents still didn't seem to take it seriously.

Hearing her, Yakov, wearing reading glasses, set the newspaper aside and slowly rose from his chair, smiling at Mia. "My dear daughter, isn't Daddy here? It's just meeting a boyfriend. Do you really expect me to stand and wait for him?"

Mia pouted, pulling Jake over with one hand. "Jake, this is my dad."

Jake immediately straightened his posture and greeted politely, "Uncle, hello. I'm Jake."

Yakov was about the same height as Jake. The traces of time hadn't ruined his appearance; instead, the faint wrinkles at the corners of his eyes added to his mature, steady demeanor.

He had lively short hair, thick eyebrows, big eyes, a straight nose, and wore a simple casual outfit with a Rolex on his left wrist, looking every bit the handsome, well-off middle-aged man.

His solemn gaze was deep as he studied Jake, noticing he seemed more confident than the last time they met. He couldn't help but look at him a second time.

"Well, the young man seems in good spirits today."

Jake quickly replied, "Thank you, Uncle."

Yakov chuckled but said nothing more. He motioned for the two to sit, then affectionately ruffled Mia's hair with his right hand. "Wait here. I'll call your mother. Be polite later don't make her angry again."

"I know, Dad. Jake brought a lot of gifts from other places this time. I'll show you later," Mia said cheerfully, shaking Yakov's arm playfully.

Looking at his still somewhat childish daughter, Yakov couldn't help but laugh before heading upstairs to fetch his wife.

About five minutes later, an elegant and dignified woman descended the stairs behind Yakov. It was Mia's mother, Yana the female president of a cosmetics company.

Standing beside the 1.8-meter-tall Yakov, Yana was only half a head shorter, likely around 1.75 meters herself.

Jake quickly stood to greet her. The beautiful woman before him appeared to be in her early thirties, though she was actually forty-two. She had fashionable, wavy wine-red hair, with carefully groomed bangs framing her fair, smooth forehead, exuding both grace and femininity.

Her neatly trimmed willow-leaf eyebrows were dark and sleek, and her long, slightly curled lashes fluttered naturally with every blink of her gentle yet captivating phoenix eyes.

Her tall, delicate nose and moist, alluring red lips complemented each other perfectly on her small, round face. Even with light makeup, she was stunning enough to make other women sigh at the unfairness of nature.

Dazzling pearl earrings adorned her petite earlobes, and her slender, snow-white neck was accentuated by a luxurious fluorescent diamond necklace, making her nobility unmistakable.

Yana had just returned from a business trip and was still dressed in her company attire—a low-key yet luxurious gray business suit. On her slender, curvaceous figure, the outfit looked nothing short of high-end.

The simple blazer paired with a white silk shirt hugged her full, perky breasts so tightly that the single row of buttons on the chest barely held. It was no exaggeration to say her cup size was impressively large.

The knee-length pencil skirt clung to her frame, emphasizing her narrow waist and round, plump hips in an exaggerated yet mesmerizing curve. As she descended the stairs, her hips swayed faintly side to side, every movement radiating the allure of a mature woman.

Her long, shapely legs were sheathed in flesh-toned stockings. Though only a glimpse of her calves was visible, the tight curve was undeniably tempting. On her feet were genuine leather ladies' slippers, through which ten toes painted in purple nail polish peeked matching the lavender polish on her fingers.

"As expected of a cosmetics company president her makeup, nails, and fashion sense are impeccable," Jake thought.

Suddenly, he recalled the erotic dream he'd had some time ago. Staring at this mature, breathtaking woman his potential future mother-in-law. He felt a stirring in his crotch.

However, perhaps because Yana had been in a high position for a long time, at the top leadership of the company, she had developed a cold and aloof aura that kept people at a distance, which made Jake calm down quickly.

Coupled with Yana's prejudice against him, he dared not even think of insulting the president's mother-in-law.

"Aunt..." Yana seemed to ignore her.

Jake watched Yana all the way to her seat and stood there nervously. Even Mia's attempt to pull him to sit down failed.

Yakov on the side blinked at Mia, as if telling his daughter: "Don't get excited, he will take care of everything."

Yana sat upright on the sofa, her expression cold and indifferent. After a long time, under Yakov's deliberate reminder, she finally showed a relatively polite expression and said, "I told you last time that there is no possibility for you and my daughter. Give up as soon as possible!"

"Mom..." Mia called out anxiously. Just as she was about to retort, she was interrupted by Yakov's mediation: "Wife, don't say that. It's rare for Mia to bring back a decent boyfriend. Can't you just talk properly?"

"Hmph! Decent? How does he deserve Mia?" Yana replied to her husband mercilessly, without caring about Jake in front of her.

[In terms of status, background, and money, they are not a good match.]

Yana's "voice" was heard as expected.

However, only Jake could hear it, but Jake did not speak casually.

"Don't worry, wife. Look at Jake. Although his background is a bit pitiful, he is tall and good-looking. He graduated from the same university as Mia. Just let them have a try." Yakov advised earnestly.

"You, I think you are really getting old and confused. These days people pay attention to matching each other's social status. It's already good enough that I can let him into this family. And you even want to marry my daughter." Yana taught her husband a lesson.

[Daydreaming!] This is what the inner voice said to Jake.

Mia had been taking care of her father's emotions, but this time she couldn't help herself: "Mom, what era is it now? Why are you still talking about this? Jake is really outstanding. You don't know how hard it has been for him. He is not the kind of boy you think!"

Yana said expressionlessly, "What kind of boy? Mia, you've grown wings! You dare to talk back to your mother."

"Dad, look at mom, she always puts pressure on me." Mia has been strictly disciplined by Yana since she was a child. Even if she talked back, she didn't dare to go too far. This time, she broke the bottom line for Jake.

Yakov sighed softly and said, "Wife, everything has a limit. I think Jake can still communicate with you face to face. You should know what's going on. If you have any questions, just listen to what he says."

Yana didn't say anything else, but her inner voice was heard by Jake again. "If I hadn't investigated, he really wouldn't have been able to enter this door!"

"So this is what you meant by 'enter the door' just now." Jake's tense heart relaxed a little. Fortunately, he had a good character.

Apart from having two girlfriends, there was nothing else about him. Not to mention the teacher's good reputation. He had always been a good student in the teacher's eyes.

However, his first two girlfriends left him because they thought Jake was too poor, which dealt a big blow to Jake's self-esteem. But he was soon healed by Mia.

The love given by a rich girl from a wealthy family made Jake re-understand the world.
