Chapter 49 - Fleeting Moment

It took a long drive to arrive at the place, Zane demanded as the cars pulled up in front of a towering building. The trunk clicked open. Selina climbed out, breathless and drained.

"Feel better now?" Zane asked with a smirk, noticing her exhaustion.

Her fists clenched. She bit back the words rising in her throat—what if he threw her off a bridge next time?

Before she could protest, he seized her wrist again and pulled her along. She stumbled behind him as they entered a grand building, whispers trailing them from the onlookers.

But neither Zane nor Selina cared; they both knew the storm that would break once their hidden relationship came to light.

The elevator chimed, opening to a lavish floor bathed in warm light. Inside the plush restaurant, Zane finally released her. He pulled out a chair and sat down with calm composure while Selina stood, chest heaving with indignation.
