Zane stormed into Elder Lucas's study, where the Chairman sat behind his large, polished desk, a medical glasses perched on his nose as he sifted through a stack of documents.
"Chairman," Zane called out, his voice strained with urgency.
"You barging into my study should not be an irrelevant matter or something impossible to request. Right now, I'm dealing with the crises I am about to face on board," Elder Lucas uttered, his voice cold and detached.
Zane stepped closer, standing before him while he begged. "It's been years since I truly asked for something I desire and want to keep. I beg you—please, just this once. Annul the marriage."
Elder Lucas's icy expression shifted to one of displeasure, hardening as he spoke dismissively. "You have no right to beg for anything. I'm not annulling it. Leave now,"
"I can't, because I owe you my life," Zane countered softly, his deep voice tight with emotion. "I'm ready to return it because I wouldn't find peace otherwise."
