Chapter 119 - I don't Trust Her Anymore

Leah's expression hardened into a mask of ice as she stormed over. "I should help you?"

Ivy nodded frantically. "Yes! I'm innocent in all this!"

Leah noticed Ivy wasn't alone in the cell; she was locked up with seven young ladies, a few of whom Leah recognized.

"If you had kept your big mouth shut and denied everything, you wouldn't be in this situation," Leah rebuked, her tone sharp. "You wouldn't have worsened it for everyone. Now you dare ask for my help after betraying my daughter? Your friend?"

Their voices were so low and discrete that the police across the room could barely hear them, but the venom was clear.

Ivy's face fell into a mix of disbelief and guilt. Clarissa had promised her a tempting offer to do those things without drawing suspicion. It was supposed to be a secret. But rotting alone in jail for an attempt? That was a price she couldn't pay.
