Aidan didn't give Anna the chance to speak. His hand closed firmly around hers, his grip urgent and almost desperate as he pulled her away from the event hall.
Conversations faded into muffled noise behind them, replaced by the pounding of Anna's heartbeat in her ears.
They stepped out and Aidan kept walking, kept dragging her with him, his strides long and purposeful.
He wasn't offering any shred of explanation.
When they got to the parking lot, filled with rows of gleaming cars, he finally stopped, but before she could say anything again, he swung the door open, and gestured for her to get in.
Anna's anger went off the roof. He wasn't explaining himself so she yanked her hand from his grip.
"Let go of me!" Her voice trembled, as she tried so hard to break down.
Seeing him unexpectedly had brought back a wave of emotions she couldn't name.
He had asked her to be brought here so she would be humiliated. And she was. She was humiliated to the core.
