yangjin returned with the thermometer and a glass of water. "here. drink this. and put this under your tongue."
qiao zhi obeyed, feeling like a sulky child. while she waited, yangjin bustled around the room, picking up their discarded clothes from the floor and opening the curtains a crack.
"what are you doing today?" qiao zhi asked around the thermometer.
"taking care of you," yangjin said simply. "i'll cancel my livestream. you're more important."
the thermometer beeped. yangjin took it and squinted. "thirty-eight degrees. it's not as high as yesterday, but it's still a fever. you are not, under any circumstances, going to work today."
