Chapter 3 - Prologue

Prologue

They always kissed me like I didn't know what it meant.

And maybe I didn't. Not then.

Seraphina touched my face like I'd vanish.

Liora kissed my neck like I was hers before I knew what belonging was.

Calista held my hand and promised to steal me away, even though I was already wrapped around their fingers.

I was small once. Helpless. Soft in a world that moved too fast. I cried when I first remembered I'd already lived—and died. That I'd once built cities with my mind and been buried by my own brilliance.

And them. Always them.

When I fell, they caught me.

Again and again and again.
