Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

It was funny. Years ago, Callith and I were livin' the life, yet we grew apart; what happened? Still, I was on my way to find him. I was near where he lived...a cozy private home at the edge of a lake. I still had a place at the military camp in the bunkers. Maybe he was right about me; maybe I haven't done the best I could at my job.

"Wow, he has a nice sports car, what this...an Alfa Romeo Giulia!? This should be kept safe in a garage." I thought. "I guess all of those years of work paid off, huh?"

I walk up to the door, ringing the doorbell. Seconds later, it opened...it was Haze. "Leon? What are you doing here!? Callith has been worried sick about you for a while now. Come in!" Said Haze.

She offered a spot for me on the couch, brought me some champagne, and sat across from me. "Oh, I don't drink, thanks, but no thanks," I said.

"Oh, ok then, more for me then. She said. "So, where have you been?"

"I need to talk to Callith. I am sorry, but this needs to stay between Callith and me, okay?" I said.

Hase gave me a slight nod, and she sips her drink. There was an awkward silence. Suddenly, the door opened, and Callith walked inside. The look on his face could only be described as Shocked and upset.

Callith stood with his arms crossed, looking dead at me. I stand up and put both arms out, trying to wrap them around him. Callith, hey, you surprised to see me? Listen, I just wanted to stop by and say that I am sorry about what I said, and if you find the time to forgive..." I was cut off before Callith began yelling at me. "Where the fuck have you been, Leon? Do you know how long I have been waiting for you to come back? I gave up long ago and thought you either died or left!" Said Callith.

"Callith, I know it may have been a little while, but I am back. I will explain everything. Just listen and don't freak out, okay?" I said.

He clenched his fists, stepping closer to me, "A little while? You don't even know how long it has been, do you!?" Said Callith. "The time I left and thought maybe...maybe Leon just didn't mean what he said, I was thinking of coming back the next day to hear you out, but nope, that's when I heard you were gone for the past several hours without a trace!"

"...If I were to tell you I somehow melted into an Eldritch alternate dimension, how would you react? I said.

Callith laughed a bit, but it wasn't the good kind of laugh. "I'm going to another room, okay, you too, just ehh talk this out." Said haze. "So you still can take things seriously, can you? What are you doing here!? It's been two and a half years!" Said Callith.

At that moment, my heart felt like it skipped a few beats. Maybe I misheard him? No, I think he was right, but that long rest felt like only a week to me. "It's 2025. As ridiculous as it seems...I am being legit, I did fall into another world...it was like a long, infinite void of darkness." I said.

Callith turns away from me, gesturing at the door. "Get out, I don't want to see you around here ever again. If you do, you're just making things worse for yourself." Said Callith.

"If you just give time to explain...please, Callith, I have no one else. You are all I have." I said.

"Then you shouldn't have left. We lost Callum, and you didn't think this would hurt me any less. So go!" Said Callith.

He closed the door between us, then I just left. I just wish things could be fixed.

In a large chamber, the Bones of Ryoth were stored. The skeleton contained a new, strange material. A few people in hazmat suits were extracting the strange fluid. It glowed bright in the syringes...so bright it was nearly blinding the cameras. The isotopes were taken back into a lab where a scientist called Dr. Benny was going to start a series of tests. Professor Alex Gen was the lead for the study.

The isotope was going to be used inside a glove box isolator, mixing with the blood of Callith. "Why is this shit so bright? I thought the sun was blinding, but damn!" Said Dr. Benny.

"Keep your eyes on the prize. This stuff might sell for millions; even a drop could give you a solid gold mansion." Said Professor. Gen. "The only amount we get is from the skeleton, and that makes it rare."

"First, we need to see what its compounds are and its chemical composition. I bet it has some kind of gold alloyed with some bioluminescence inside it." Said Dr. Benny.

As time went on, Professor. Gen wrote a whole sheet and formula about the two isotopes. Ryoth's blood had the formula reading: The ichor of Ryoth runs bright and thin, glowing with its bioluminescence. Each drop, though light and fleeting, holds the fire of a city for one minute. Thus it is written: let PRyoth=D⋅CP_{Ryoth} = D \cdot CPRyoth=D⋅C, where DDD is the number of drops spilled and CCC the demand of one city's breath. Heat, light, and thinness are its binding factors, and its power is radiant but brief, a torch that burns hot.

Callith blood formula was written: "he ichor of Leon is black, heavy, and thick — a paradox that devours the light it touches. One drop alone yields sevenfold the strength of Ryoth's, yet it is never bound to that limit; for it consumes radiance and multiplies. Thus let it be set: PLeon=D⋅(7C⋅(1+αL))P_{Leon} = D \cdot (7C \cdot (1 + \alpha L))PLeon=D⋅(7C⋅(1+αL)), where DDD is the count of drops, CCC the same measure of city-power, and αL\alpha LαL the absorption of ambient light. In this form, Leon's blood is not merely fuel but abyssal hunger, a well that deepens as it feeds.

"Wait! When I put carbon into Specime-42...it began to heat up. Then it was able to destroy subject Callith's blood. I think we found the solution!" Said Dr. Benny.

Professor Gen picked up the isotope; locked it up the isotope inside a biohazard suitcase. "We can call this Secimine-42 Modified...he's going to be happy.

A guy walked into the room, a cold smile on his face, and his hands clapping together, making both feel uneasy. "Congrats to you both, I now finally have a way to kill the Leon and Callith." Said Cameron Lammy.
