Chapter 266 - Volume 1 Chapter 266: Attending Class in a Dress

Volume 1 Chapter 266: Attending Class in a Dress

"Hey, who's that beauty sitting next to Wen Yang?"

A student lounging in the back row squinted at the long-haired girl in a white dress at the front of the classroom, nudging his roommate with a whisper.

"That's Ning Chu, duh. Who else but Ning Chu could sit next to Wen Yang without getting chased off?"

"Huh? Wait—I thought Ning Chu was a guy?"

"He gotta be a trap~" someone chimed in, just walking into the classroom. "I just saw from the door, it's definitely Ning Chu."

"Dude, he looks even prettier in a dress than Lily!"

"I dunno, I still think Lily's hotter. She got bigger… assets."

Ning Chu had always been pretty, so seeing her in a dress didn't shock anyone. If anything, her classmates found it perfectly fitting—like it was something that should've happened sooner.

"So… is Ning Chu a guy or a girl, actually?"

"Probably a guy? Isn't he in the boys' dorm?"

Sitting beside Wen Yang, Ning Chu sat stiffly, trying not to fidget. Her ears strained to catch the whispers floating through the classroom—most of them about her. Her cheeks had flushed red with embarrassment.

Even though she's long been a girl already… showing up to class in a dress still feels like crossdressing.

Especially with that look Wang Jie gave her—like his worldview had just collapsed. It was enough to make her want to sink into the floor.

"Wanna read a novel starring Ning Chu and Wen Yang? Ten yuans a copy~"

Ning Chu blinked.

Wait, what?

She turned around and spotted Lin Li proudly hawking what looked like pamphlets.

Ten yuans?!

Girl, I write 20,000 words a day and only got a yuan online!

Shameless! Absolute capitalist!!!

"Xinya," Ning Chu whispered, tapping Yan Xinya's arm. "What's this about a novel featuring me and Wen Yang? Have you read it?"

Please don't tell me it's a smutty fanfic...

"Yan Xinya wrote it," Lily said flatly, throwing her bestie under the bus without blinking.

"!!!"

Yan Xinya immediately panicked. "I-It's not anything weird! It's just normal romance, I swear!"

Turns out, someone had promised months ago in the class group chat to write a spicy novel about Ning Chu and Wen Yang, but never delivered. So Yan Xinya got impatient and just decided to write it herself.

"Let me see it."

"I-I swear it's totally normal..." Yan Xinya mumbled.

Honestly, even if it was spicy, Ning Chu wouldn't be mad.

She'd already written some very personal stories starring herself and Wen Yang anyway…

Some of them might even become reality soon.

"So why the sudden decision to wear a dress to class?" Zhang Shaoqing piped up from across Wen Yang, curious as ever. "Looks good, I'll give you that. Just a shame you didn't add cat ears."

"…I wear what I want. What's it to you?" Ning Chu shot him a glare.

Cat ears?! What are you, twelve?!

She quickly sneaked a glance at Wen Yang beside her.

How come you still haven't done anything? I put on makeup today just for you, you know. You're seriously not gonna say anything? Not even a 'you look nice'?!

But she had to admit, Wen Yang probably couldn't tell either way.

Straight guys… sigh.

"Do you think Ning Chu and Wen Yang have been dating this whole time?"

"Seriously? But… they're both dudes."

"Isn't that what makes it even better? And like, how could you even see Ning Chu as a guy? He's even prettier than you~"

"…Please stop…"

The voices from the row behind her were clear as day—especially the excited squeals of the local fujoshi.

Ning Chu couldn't help but sigh.

Wen Yang was right. Her secret was already long gone. Most of the class had figured out by now that she and Wen Yang were together.

She was always glued to his side, always cold-shouldering any girl who tried to approach him. To everyone else, she probably looked like a jealous little girlfriend.

And her appearance, her movements, the way she carried herself—it all leaned so naturally feminine. Even when she wore guys' clothes, she gave off the vibe of a delicate, refined girl.

No doubt her classmates had been seeing her that way for a while now.

Class began, and as usual, the teacher started roll call.

"Ning Chu."

"Here!"

The teacher froze mid-scroll, pushing up his glasses to get a better look at the girl who had just raised her hand.

He paused.

Yep… that was Ning Chu.

It just took a second to connect the name to the unfamiliar dress.

Didn't see that one coming today.

Ning Chu sat stiffly, her face tense with nerves, afraid the teacher might say something or question her appearance.

But after a momentary pause, the teacher simply looked down and continued roll call.

Whew…

She quietly exhaled in relief and slumped over her desk, forehead resting against her arms.

"Why not just wear dresses to class from now on?" Wen Yang leaned over and whispered into her ear. "Everyone seems to think it's totally normal."

"…Mm."

His breath tickled her ear, making it turn red, and she instinctively shrank her neck like a startled kitten.

"And besides…" Wen Yang added with a grin, "You look really good in it. Look at how jealous everyone is."

That little compliment made her heart flutter. A faint smile crept onto her lips, curving her eyes like crescent moons.

Even without makeup, Ning Chu's looks were already enough to rival Lily's. With makeup on, she was easily school idol material.

And this was no ordinary school either—it was basically the main stage for a real-life Hentai doujin, where the ratio of beautiful girls was on par with an arts university.

—If only her figure was a bit more impressive.

Ning Chu subtly glanced down at her chest.

A B-cup wasn't small, but under a long dress it barely caused a ripple.

Then she sneaked a look at Lily—same long dress, but those curves were impossible to miss.

It was like looking up at Mount Everest.

Before she knew it, she was getting hung up on cup size again. A little jealous, she threw Lily a sidelong glance, then tried to refocus on the class… and on her classmates' whispers.

Surprisingly, she didn't hear a single mean comment.

No mocking, no disgust.

Apparently, no one really cared that she was crossdressing.

Maybe it was thanks to how common gender-bending culture had become online these days…

Or maybe, more simply, it was because she looked that good.

Wearing a dress to class hadn't brought her any trouble at all.

If anything, it had just drawn more attention.

As she sat listening to the lecture, she could still feel dozens of eyes sneaking peeks at her from time to time.

That initial sense of shame from wearing a dress was slowly fading—replaced by a quiet sense of pride.

"I'm going to Lily's place this weekend," she said suddenly, turning to Wen Yang. "We're picking up her autumn and winter clothes and bedding."

"How long will you be gone?"

Before Lily could answer, Yan Xinya piped up cheerfully, "We're staying overnight~ Leaving Friday evening and coming back Saturday."

Wen Yang nodded.

He didn't show a trace of jealousy toward Lily or Yan Xinya. If anything, he was grateful to them—those two had practically played Cupid for him and Ning Chu.

Without them, he might still be dancing around Ning Chu in emotional limbo.

"Alright. Just stay safe," he said gently.

"…Don't go getting tangled up with some annoying girl while I'm gone."

The accusation came out quick—maybe a little too quick—and Ning Chu immediately passed the blame. "You're the one who keeps flirting around!"

Wen Yang sighed. "I really don't mean to…"

Like hell he wants that kind of attention.

Ever since starting college, it was like a switch had flipped.

Girls were throwing themselves at him left and right like moths to a flame.

In just a few months, he'd been hit on more times than in his entire life combined.

"In that case…" Ning Chu leaned in a bit closer, her tone playful but firm. "Why don't you just hand over your living expenses and weekend job earnings to me?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, we're already eating together and sharing costs anyway. Might as well skip the awkward bill-splitting."

It wasn't that she was after his money—just a few hundred yuans, nothing much.

She just couldn't be bothered to go halfsies every time they bought a meal.

"Alright," Wen Yang said without hesitation. He pulled out his phone and transferred the rest of his balance to her right then and there.

"Whoa~ Not even married yet and she's already managing his finances~"

Yan Xinya giggled like she'd just eaten a spoonful of honey.
