Volume 3 Chapter 26 / Chapter 531: Reunion
In the bustling train station, filled with people coming and going, a tall, handsome man stood some distance from the exit, repeatedly lowering his head to check the time on his phone.
She should've gotten off the train by now, right?
He had waited patiently for half an hour, but as the moment of their reunion drew closer, he found it harder and harder to stay calm. He paced back and forth in a small area, unable to keep still.
"Hey, handsome~ My friend wants to add you on WeChat," A clear, cheerful female voice suddenly sounded beside him.
Wen Yang glanced down at the tall girl, gave a perfunctory shake of his head, and turned his attention back to the station exit.
A dense crowd was beginning to emerge from inside.
Unfortunately, the girl he longed to see was petite, easily swallowed up by the sea of people. All he could make out was a mass of heads.
Almost unconsciously, he stepped closer to the exit, scanning the stream of passengers.
The crowd gradually thinned...
Yet he still couldn't find her.
"Wasn't it this train?"
Wen Yang muttered in confusion, lowering his head to send her a message.
"Hey, handsome~ Want to go on a date?" A coy, deliberately cutesy voice came from behind him.
He instinctively started to shake his head—
Then suddenly froze.
Amid the noisy surroundings, there was no special scent to recognize, nor had they made any physical contact.
Yet the moment he heard that unfamiliar, affected voice, his heartbeat inexplicably sped up, and excitement welled up inside him.
Wen Yang spun around and answered without hesitation,
"I do!"
The girl behind him wore a thin white blouse stretched snugly across her full chest, paired with a plaid skirt. Her long, slender legs were wrapped in black stockings.
She simply stood there smiling.
Yet her radiant beauty seemed to eclipse everything around her.
"Hmph~ So you're actually that easy?"
Returning to her normal voice, Ning Chu spoke in mock disdain.
Despite her words, she immediately stepped forward, wrapped her arms around Wen Yang's waist, and buried her face against his firm chest.
His familiar scent washed over her.
Her body instantly softened.
Greedily, she took a deep breath, and even the tips of her ears began to grow warm.
Wen Yang gently embraced her soft, boneless body, his hand stroking her silky hair from the top of her head all the way down to her waist.
"Have you eaten yet?"
"No. The food on the train was so expensive."
"Why didn't I see you just now?"
"I deliberately hid behind other people and snuck out from the side~"
After hugging him for a while, Ning Chu suddenly noticed something pressing against her lower abdomen.
She quickly wriggled free from his embrace, lowered her eyes to glance around at the surrounding crowd, and muttered shyly,
"So many people are watching..."
"Aren't you the one who hugged me first?"
Pretending she hadn't heard him, she tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, grabbed her suitcase, and shoved the handle into his hand.
"Let's go, let's go. That train ride took forever. My butt hurts from sitting so long, and I'm exhausted."
She had boarded the train at one in the afternoon.
Now it was already dark outside.
"How about we grab dinner first?"
Wen Yang's suggestion was immediately rejected.
"Let's go back first. I want to see the apartment you rented."
The little scheme in her mind was impossible to hide.
Wen Yang chuckled softly.
"There's no rush. I'll need a full stomach if I'm going to have enough energy to satisfy you."
"I'm just tired! I want to go back and rest!"
Ning Chu's face turned bright red as she protested indignantly.
"Besides, I still have to buy towels, a toothbrush, and a bunch of other things! Who has time for... all that?"
"I already bought them for you."
"I still want to go back and rest! We can order takeout!"
"Alright, alright. I'll call a taxi."
"Is it far? Maybe we should take the subway and save some money?"
"It's not too far."
Perhaps because they'd been apart for a short while, this reunion left Ning Chu especially excited.
Her heart pounded so hard she could almost hear it thumping in her ears.
Heat spread across her cheeks.
A rosy blush climbed from her neck to her face, tinting even the tips of her ears crimson.
Her head felt slightly dizzy.
All she wanted was to hold Wen Yang's hand and stay as close to him as possible.
She was unusually lively.
She practically bounced as she walked, unable to stop talking.
"You should've seen my mom when she registered her marriage with Uncle. She looked so happy~"
"She even got drunk last night. After they got home, she kept acting all spoiled with Uncle."
"I also ran into my cousin yesterday. He's actually pretty handsome—just a little less handsome than you. But I didn't dare tell him I was Ning Chu."
"Black Bean's almost one and a half meters tall now. What if she ends up taller than me someday?"
Wen Yang listened patiently to Ning Chu's nonstop chatter, a gentle smile never leaving his face. Every now and then he lowered his head to look at her delicate profile, the tenderness in his eyes almost overflowing.
When they arrived at the rideshare pickup area, the dense crowd finally made her fall silent for a moment.
Standing almost pressed against Wen Yang's side, she curiously looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings before asking again,
"Wen Yang, work's been going smoothly these past few days, right? There aren't any old workplace bullies giving you trouble, are there?"
"Didn't you already ask me that online?" he replied with a smile. "Nobody's bullying me. Everyone's been pretty nice."
"Then have there been any..."
"They've all been turned down. None of them are as pretty as you or have a figure as good as yours, so don't worry."
"Then..."
"My boss is pretty nice too. I was supposed to work overtime today, but he didn't mind me leaving early."
Ning Chu opened her mouth again.
"I only have overtime once or twice a week, and they pay the overtime wages properly."
She realized, somewhat annoyed, that Wen Yang had anticipated every question she wanted to ask.
All she could do was glare at him indignantly.
But after he gently patted her on the head a couple of times, the little bit of anger she had quickly disappeared.
"Our ride's here."
When they reached the rideshare car, Wen Yang first loaded Ning Chu's luggage into the trunk before hurrying back to open the passenger door for her.
He rested one hand against the top of the door frame, worried that she might carelessly bump her head getting in.
To him, Ning Chu was like a child who had never quite grown up—someone he instinctively wanted to look after in every little way.
At first, Ning Chu hadn't been used to that kind of treatment.
But little by little, she'd become spoiled by it.
It wasn't long before they arrived at the single-room apartment Wen Yang had rented.
The moment the door opened, Ning Chu eagerly squeezed past him into the room.
After glancing around the room she'd previously only seen over video call, she happily flopped onto the bed.
Stretching lazily, she relaxed her stiff body after spending hours on the train, unable to suppress a satisfied little groan.
"What do you want to eat tonight?"
Wen Yang stepped inside as well, casually closing the door behind him and placing her suitcase in a corner.
He lowered his head to open a food delivery app.
When he looked up again, he saw that Ning Chu had already crawled onto the bed.
She was leaning toward the headboard with her backside raised toward him. Her tail extended from beneath her skirt, the heart-shaped tip swaying back and forth in front of his eyes.
In reality, she was simply reaching over to plug her phone charger into the wall outlet beside the bed.
But the way her hips swayed betrayed what was really on her mind.
A teasing warmth entered Wen Yang's voice as he asked again,
"So... what should we eat?"
Without turning around, Ning Chu plugged in her phone, deliberately raising her hips just a little higher.
"What do you think?"
Then, with a playful smile, she answered:
"Eat me~"
