Netero, near death, his life waning, left a lasting impression on the Chimera Ants.
'Can we really resist such power?' 'Even watching, we feel the destructive force of that overwhelming life energy.' 'If we're hit, we'll die instantly!!!'
The Chimera Ant Squadron Leaders were terrified of Netero.
Neferpitou, however, felt a mixture of shock, fear, and joy. Her gaze shifted from Loki to Netero.
'The new human King seems to be dead! Now, it's just this dying old man!'
The light gradually dissipated.
Only after it vanished completely did the sound of the explosion slowly reach them; the earlier light had suppressed the sound.
The sudden, violent explosion showcased the attack's power. A deep, bottomless crater instantly formed, seven or eight meters wide.
"Cough… finally… it's over…" Netero's voice, old and raspy, was filled with exhaustion.
After everyone looked away from the crater, they saw something even more shocking: Netero's face and body were completely aged, unlike a human.
Netero's heavy breathing was like a hammer blow to everyone's hearts.
Just as Morel was about to help the faltering Netero, a rustling sound echoed.
The Chimera Ants emerged from the still-burning forest, surrounding them.
Seeing these strange creatures, Netero's eyes were filled with question. "What kind of creatures are these?"
Morel froze, his eyes widening.
"So, that… Balda… was telling the truth."
Knov also took a step back. "How could unknown creatures really exist?"
Neferpitou slowly stepped forward.
"What an exciting battle, meow!"
"You humans are so interesting." She looked at Netero.
"If you hadn't killed that other strong human, we would have had a difficult time, meow!"
A terrifying aura emanated from Neferpitou, plunging everyone into a chilling coldness.
She looked at everyone, finally focusing on Netero.
"Thank you for eliminating a troublesome human!"
Netero's eyes trembled. 'What… what are these creatures?' This aura… it was like…
Everyone felt their hearts pounding under Neferpitou's aura.
A heavy gloom enveloped them; any movement felt like a death sentence.
Netero looked at Knov and Morel, his meaning clear: 'What are these creatures?'
Morel understood. The missing villagers were killed by these creatures. The strong smell of blood confirmed it—only relentless slaughter could create such an odor.
Morel looked at Knov, who looked grim.
"Chairman… I'm sorry," Knov said. "The missing humans… weren't killed by Loki."
Netero understood. He'd misunderstood Loki.
A sense of relief washed over him; Loki wasn't as cruel as he'd imagined, not consumed by power.
But this relief was quickly replaced by deep regret. He'd killed Loki.
Netero recalled Loki's words: "I didn't. I said I didn't!"
Netero clenched his fists, feeling helpless. He collapsed.
Neferpitou laughed. "Did that attack use all your strength?"
The other Chimera Ants relaxed.
"Foolish humans, exhausting yourselves fighting each other," a Chimera Ant Squadron Leader said, approaching Netero.
"The best food for the Queen."
"Take these humans back to the King. They're special; Her Majesty loves eating humans."
They spoke of eating humans.
"Hee hee hee…"
"Ha ha ha…"
"Humans are so foolish! They're strong but kill each other. Such creatures stand at the world's peak!"
The Chimera Ants laughed.
Netero chuckled wryly. 'If only humans didn't kill each other…' But that was impossible.
Each human was an individual, incapable of eternal unity.
"I was planning to eliminate you both when you were exhausted," Neferpitou said, swaying her tail.
"But you've done us a favor, exhausting yourselves. Well, even without that opportunity, this is good food for the Queen."
"Take all these humans back!"
All the Chimera Ants—Squadron Leaders, Legion Leaders, and soldiers—looked at Morel, Hisoka, and the others with murderous intent.
Hisoka, Pakunoda, and Baise were serious.
The Legion and Squadron Leaders were emitting Nen.
These ants had learned Nen in a single day.
Their combat power was vastly different, and their numbers were overwhelming.
Morel and Knov prepared for battle—or rather, escape.
"Take everyone," Netero said suddenly.
Morel and Knov nodded after a moment's hesitation.
Neferpitou approached Netero. Knov and Morel retreated. They weren't unwilling to save Netero, but his aura was weak; he could die at any moment.
Neferpitou's aura was terrifying; they needed distance to escape.
Ignoring them, Neferpitou stood before Netero.
"In this state, can you still protect others?"
