His eyes, filled with rage and madness, were fixed on the distance.
Cheadle had identified last night's intruders: members of the Pure Paladin Squad faction.
However, Cheadle wasn't concerned with their motive for attacking Loki, but rather, how they obtained the information.
Aside from the Zodiacs, only the Chairman's inner circle knew Loki was in the Association.
The leak needed investigation, but Cheadle lacked the time. Ging had returned, bringing someone with him.
After learning of Loki's location in the Association's rest area, Ging and his companion headed straight for it.
Upon seeing Loki, Ging grinned. "You found this place, huh? Not many in the Association know about this rest area."
Loki didn't turn, merely replying, "I've been in the Hunter Association for a long time."
Ging then remembered that this boy was Netero's prized student, though he hadn't followed Netero's intended path.
Still, Netero was always proud of Loki.
"Long time no see, Loki," said the person behind Ging.
Loki turned to see him.
"Razor!"
Ging had brought Razor, one of the Game Masters, known for his role in the game's emissive systems and as the final boss of a specific quest.
The moment Loki looked at Razor, Razor, carrying his luggage, frowned.
'It's been a while, and this kid's gotten even stronger.'
A palpable increase in pressure emanated from Loki, surprising Razor.
Loki's rate of growth was astonishing.
It wasn't simply talent; reaching Loki's level and still improving at this rate transcended mere talent.
Ging clapped Razor on the back. "How about it? This guy should be up to par!"
Loki discreetly observed Razor. His aura was calmer than on Greed Island. Razor was undoubtedly stronger now.
Ging sat down, looking at Loki. "The game, Greed Island, will be temporarily shut down. The longer it's down, the greater the impact."
"Why tell me this?" Loki asked, confused.
Razor smiled, understanding Ging's intentions, but refraining from interrupting, silently setting down his luggage and observing.
Ging leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Loki's youthful face.
"After the Chimera Ant extermination, let's remake Greed Island together!" Ging extended his hand, inviting Loki.
Loki's eyes flickered as he looked at Ging's hand, then back at his face.
Ging's invitation felt unusual; the bright eyes and earnest expression were reminiscent of Gon's, showing a perfect inheritance of Ging's positive traits, avoiding his flaws.
Just as Loki was about to speak, a notification appeared:
Mission triggered: Remake Greed Island.
Mission reward: One S-rank summoning chance.
Objective: Remake Greed Island to be even better than before.
Loki paused slightly, causing Ging and Razor to tense.
After a moment, a slow smile spread across Loki's lips.
Ging, seeing Loki wasn't going to shake his hand, stood up and grabbed Loki's hand, shaking it forcefully.
Loki, with an expression of clear displeasure, immediately pulled his hand away.
"After that, it'll be our duel, right?" Loki stated.
At the mention of a duel, Ging, unlike before, was visibly excited and eager.
"Yeah! I'm looking forward to it," Ging replied, his voice brimming with anticipation.
Razor chuckled. "Let's focus on this Chimera Ant extermination first. We don't have much time, do we?"
Ging turned to Loki. "Loki, you mentioned driving the ants towards the King for a decisive blow. How do you plan to do that?"
Loki smiled. "It's quite simple, actually."
...
East Gorteau's capital, Peiking. The Palace.
Meruem, the Chimera Ant King (though he didn't yet know his name), sat on what was once Digo's throne, observing Pouf, Neferpitou, and Youpi.
He was dining.
A long table, draped in white cloth, was covered with bloody food. Meruem ate slowly, methodically.
Neferpitou watched him, speaking respectfully. "Your Majesty, are you satisfied with the meal?"
Meruem nodded slightly. "It's satisfactory. Much better than before."
His approval was the ultimate motivation for the Royal Guards.
"We're pleased Your Majesty is satisfied. These are exceptional humans, difficult to find, but recently, many have appeared, allowing Your Majesty to finally enjoy a proper meal," Neferpitou explained.
Meruem paused.
"You mean humans are organizing to oppose me?"
The Royal Guards were taken aback. Pouf quickly responded, "Your Majesty, rest assured. While these exceptional humans are far stronger than ordinary humans, their strength is insignificant compared to Your Majesty's."
"Yes, Your Majesty! The three of us are more than enough to deal with any human resistance," Neferpitou added.
Meruem shook his head. "I'm not concerned about these so-called exceptional humans."
The Royal Guards looked at him questioningly. "Then what concerns Your Majesty?"
Meruem rose, his back to them.
"Every species has its king. Ordinary human kings are inconsequential," he stated, turning around, his eyes hardening.
"But among these exceptional humans... there might be a king among them."
Pouf and Youpi were unsure why Meruem was concerned about a "king" among humans. Neferpitou hesitated.
"Your Majesty needn't worry."
Meruem looked at Neferpitou. "You've seen this 'king' of exceptional humans?"
"Yes, Your Majesty. Before Your Majesty's birth, I encountered two such kings."
"How strong were they?"
Neferpitou closed her eyes. "Very strong." She wouldn't lie to Meruem; Loki and Netero had been incredibly powerful.
However, she immediately added, "But Your Majesty need not worry. While strong, they were only at our level, far inferior to Your Majesty."
Pouf and Youpi turned to Neferpitou, surprised by her assessment.
They'd never encountered humans at their level.
Ignoring Neferpitou's concluding remark, Meruem continued, "Where are these kings of exceptional humans now?"
Meruem showed disappointment.
Neferpitou, sensing his concern, explained, Your Majesty, rest assured.
"The kings of exceptional humans I encountered are likely dead. One was consumed by the Queen, and the other, severely injured, would be unable to survive with his human body."
