Chapter 248 - Chapter 249: You've Got a Little Sister Now

At the entrance of Konoha Village.

"Wow, finally back!"

Naruto Uzumaki's face couldn't hide his excitement.

This mission had taken them far away—to the Land of Wind.

The round trip had taken nearly half a month.

There was a lot of travel time, and it had gotten pretty dull.

Compared with Natsume, his new teacher Yugao Uzuki was practically the polar opposite.

She was as precise and tireless as a machine.

Mission after mission kept coming.

Even Naruto was beginning to feel overwhelmed.

Although fighting was pretty fun.

"Let's go eat at Ichiraku Ramen!"

Naruto looked at Yugao and his two teammates, making the invitation. "My treat!"

He sounded thoroughly pleased.

Because Hinata Hyuga was there, it was like treating ten people at once.

"I need to submit the mission report at the Hokage Building."

Yugao Uzuki said coolly, "You three go ahead and eat."

She was just a substitute teacher.

Orochimaru's influence had made her personality rather cold.

Besides, they hadn't spent much time together, so naturally, they didn't share a strong bond.

"I'm going home."

Sasuke Uchiha said calmly, "My mom is waiting for me."

"Me too."

Hinata Hyuga hesitated for a few seconds before politely declining.

"Then tomorrow it is!"

Naruto wasn't fazed at all, "I'll head out first!"

In a flash of yellow, he zoomed toward Ichiraku Ramen.

The remaining three went their separate ways.

As Sasuke walked down the street, his body, which had been tense, finally relaxed.

Lately, his life had been going rather well.

Ever since obtaining Satori, his power had steadily grown.

Though he still couldn't match Naruto, his progress had already been impressive.

After learning about the existence of Jinchuriki, his resentment had eased somewhat.

It wasn't really Naruto who was strong—it was the Nine-Tails.

It made sense that he couldn't beat him now.

But that didn't mean he wouldn't be able to in the future.

After awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan, he'd be able to control the Nine-Tails.

In other words, once he unlocked his Mangekyo, he would be able to defeat Naruto.

It was only a matter of time.

Arriving at the Uchiha clan residence, Sasuke even showed a faint smile.

Though there were far fewer people than before, seeing familiar faces still gave him comfort.

Especially Mikoto Uchiha.

"Mom, I'm back."

Sasuke opened the door, took off his shoes, and shouted loudly.

Upon hearing his voice, Mikoto came out from the kitchen.

She was wearing an apron, clearly in the middle of cooking.

"Sasuke."

Mikoto smiled as she approached, gently asking, "Let me take a look—seems like you've gotten darker."

"We did a mission in the desert of the Land of Wind."

Sasuke explained, "The temperature there is way too high."

Naruto would've been shocked if he were here—he actually spoke this much.

Outside, Sasuke always maintained his cold and aloof image.

He generally spoke very little.

"I'll talk to your teacher next time," Mikoto said with a trace of concern, "ask him to assign missions within the Land of Fire."

"It's alright."

Sasuke Uchiha shook his head. "It's the same wherever I go."

"Just like your father," Mikoto Uchiha said, ruffling his hair. "You rest for a bit. I'll go cook something."

She turned and walked into the kitchen.

Sasuke plopped down onto the sofa. Being at home, he appeared relatively relaxed. He sipped some water and closed his eyes.

Unlike tailed beasts, Satori possessed consciousness but lacked the ability to communicate. Or rather, given Sasuke's personality, he wouldn't bother talking anyway.

As such, his method was brutally straightforward. Just like the [Absorption Skill], every day he forcibly absorbed Satori's power.

Under normal circumstances, he couldn't absorb it. Fortunately, the wonder of the sealing technique compensated for this flaw.

Sasuke's consciousness sank into the sealed space. Satori immediately charged toward him but quickly hit against the seal.

Three meters away—and yet it was an impassable distance.

Sasuke smirked slightly, his hands forming seals rapidly. Instantly, a faint layer of black mist appeared on Satori's body.

Pulled in by an unseen force, it gradually vanished into Sasuke's eyes.

His Three-Tomoe Sharingan flared to life, its tomoe trembling violently.

Clenching his teeth against the pain, Sasuke continued absorbing until he could no longer endure it, then withdrew from the sealed space.

"Sasuke, come eat."

Seeing him wake up, Mikoto called out to him.

"Are we expecting guests today?" Sasuke asked, jumping off the sofa and heading to the dinner table. He paused, surprised.

"No," Mikoto replied, shaking her head in confusion. "Why'd you say that?"

"There are so many dishes." Sitting down, he added, "Usually there are only two."

"Oh, that." Mikoto smiled gently, handing him a pair of chopsticks. "I have good news to tell you."

"Good news?" Sasuke looked at her, a flicker of interest showing on his face. "What kind of good news?"

"You're going to have a little sister soon," Mikoto said, placing a hand on her abdomen.

"What?!" Sasuke's eyes widened instantly, his expression frozen. "A little sister... do you mean Mom has adopted a daughter?"

This chapter isn't over yet—stay tuned for more exciting developments!

"No," Mikoto explained. "I'm pregnant."

"Eh?" Sasuke stiffened, crimson glowing in his eyes.

He stared blankly at his mother, unable to believe what she had just said.

His father had died years ago—how could she be pregnant?

Unless… Could this possibly be another man's child?

At that moment, Sasuke didn't know what to say.

To scold his mother? He couldn't bring himself to do it.

To accept it calmly? That didn't seem possible either.

A storm of emotions surged through him, causing his Three-Tomoe Sharingan to quake violently.

"W-Whose... is it?" Sasuke asked with extreme difficulty.

"Natsume's," Mikoto replied happily.

Sasuke Uchiha remained speechless, stunned beyond words.

He never imagined it would be Natsume.

After all, their age difference was enormous.

A sudden wave of pain shot through his eyes, and the world around him turned blood red.

"Why...?"

Sasuke Uchiha clutched his head, wincing in pain.

"Sasuke, aren't you happy about this?"

Mikoto Uchiha's expression shifted from happiness to sadness. She gritted her teeth and said, "Then mom will just have it removed."

"W-wait a second."

Sasuke grew somewhat flustered as he explained, "I-I didn't mean that at all."

Mikoto Uchiha barely frowned, quickly masking it.

Clearly, the emotional stimulus wasn't strong enough.

She understood the reason.

It was because of her.

The bond between Sasuke and his mother was holding him back.

He hadn't completely given in to despair yet.

No, it must also have something to do with Natsume.

He had prevented the annihilation of the Uchiha clan and painstakingly helped strengthen Sasuke's power.

In every way, he had shown tremendous kindness.

Therefore, after the initial shock, Sasuke surprisingly found himself able to accept the situation.

Under these circumstances, his Mangekyo Sharingan remained dormant.

"Mom, if you really want to have this baby, go ahead. I don't mind."

Sasuke exhaled deeply and said.

"Thank you."

Mikoto looked at him warmly once more.

Such a thoughtful child.

This was nothing like what she'd anticipated.

Originally, she thought Sasuke would shout loudly and strongly oppose.

Dinner ended.

Mikoto entered the kitchen to wash dishes.

Sasuke lay on the sofa, staring blankly.

He still hadn't recovered from the shocking news.

In his memory, Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto Uchiha had always gotten along extremely well.

Ultimately, everything came back to that one night.

Hatred flickered in Sasuke's eyes.

Itachi Uchiha!

The source of all evil.

For the sake of so-called capacity, he had lost his humanity.

Without that incident, their family could have lived together happily and peacefully.

Suddenly, another thought struck Sasuke.

He was going to become an older brother.

Although he didn't know how Itachi had reacted when he'd heard about their mother's pregnancy years ago, Sasuke vowed not to repeat history.

He would be a good older brother.

At this thought, a faint smile touched Sasuke's lips.

Actually, the idea didn't sound so bad.

Suddenly, Sasuke sat up.

He felt a strange presence.

Recently, after absorbing Satori's energy, he had become intimately familiar with this sensation.

Was the source coming from the kitchen?

"Mom!"

Sasuke shouted while quickly rushing toward the kitchen.

No reply came.

A sense of foreboding surged within him.

Sasuke slowly reached out, grasped the doorknob, and pushed the door open.

A face all too familiar loomed before him.

"Itachi Uchiha!"

A chill ran through Sasuke's body as his Three-Tomoe Sharingan activated on reflex.

But the next moment, he froze stiff.

Itachi coldly stepped aside.

Revealing Mikoto Uchiha crumpled in a pool of blood.

"No!"

Sasuke Uchiha's face twisted with rage, tears streaming down his cheeks.

His Three-Tomoe Sharingan began to spiral rapidly.

Moments ago, his mother had narrowly escaped death—now she was dead.

The little sister he'd finally gained disappeared too.

Sasuke's chest heaved with fury as he roared, "I'll kill you!"

The tomoe in his eyes linked together, forming a six-pointed star.

An overwhelming, dark, and maddening aura erupted from him like a storm.

This power surged forward in an instant, engulfing Itachi Uchiha.

From Sasuke at the center, the entire space warped and distorted.

In the next second, it transformed into invisible blades and swords, crazily slicing everything apart.

Blood splattered.

Itachi Uchiha completely disappeared.

"Hahahaha!"

He cackled madly, "You're all dead! Everyone is dead!"

His laughter turned into crying.

Then waves of pain and exhaustion crashed over him. He collapsed.

The entire world shuddered briefly before returning to normal.

"He's fine."

Natsume withdrew his hand and said, "He went through extreme emotional trauma and exhausted his dojutsu energy, causing him to pass out."

Mikoto Uchiha immediately relaxed.

She sat beside the bed, her face clouded with emotion as she whispered, "Sasuke, I'm sorry... Mom failed you."

"It was a necessary price."

Natsume comforted her, "Aunt Mikoto, try to see the bright side—no one actually died, so we should count ourselves lucky."

Hearing this, Mikoto fell silent.

Although that was true, seeing such a monstrous side of Sasuke still made her feel deeply troubled.

This mini-chapter isn't finished yet—more excitement ahead!

Natsume didn't say anything else.

Within the genjutsu world just now, Sasuke Uchiha had displayed a dojutsu ability.

Based on its effects, it appeared to be an offensive technique tied to spatial manipulation.

Only Sasuke truly understood how it worked.

The other dojutsu was similar in that regard.

Natsume didn't feel comfortable asking about it.

Still, he thought, if he brought them on a mission one day, he might understand it better.

He scratched his chin thoughtfully—who should he go find first?

"Aaaaaargh!"

Sasuke shot up suddenly, eyes wide and clutching his head with a cry of pain.

"Are you okay, Sasuke?"

Mikoto Uchiha quickly asked, concerned.

"Mom…?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Sasuke couldn't help but pause briefly.

As he looked at Mikoto Uchiha, traces of madness still lingered in his eyes.

"What... what just happened?"

Sasuke shook his head violently, looking around in confusion, clearly disoriented.

"It was a genjutsu," Mikoto Uchiha replied, wiping cold sweat off his forehead with a towel as she explained, "a specially designed illusion created to help you awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan."

A genjutsu?

Sasuke paused briefly, then came back to his senses, feeling relieved.

Good.

Mom wasn't really dead, nor was his little sister.

Wait, if it was a genjutsu, then was my sister fake?

Suddenly, Sasuke felt a complicated emotion arise.

He had truly wanted to be a good older brother.

But soon, those melancholy thoughts were washed away by the joy of awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Two dojutsu abilities surfaced clearly in his mind.

Left eye: [Futsu-Kami].

The dojutsu shattered space with its power, transforming it into countless blades that ripped enemies to shreds.

This is an offensive dojutsu ability, and also a spatial technique.

Within a certain range, space will be sealed, leaving no escape.

Unless one possesses a dojutsu stronger than Sasuke Uchiha's, or wields an even more advanced eye technique.

Otherwise, there's no way to resist it.

Right eye: [Watatsumi-Kami].

Upon activation, it transforms the user into a calamity deity, bringing misfortune upon those nearby.

Unless deactivated, the disaster won't stop.

It is a highly random dojutsu.

Because the severity of the disasters varies greatly.

Some cause instant death,

while others are as minor as catching a cold.

[Futsu-Kami] was born from Sasuke Uchiha's intense hatred toward his brother Itachi.

[Watatsumi-Kami], on the other hand, originated from his belief that he was cursed with a solitary fate, dooming his family to misfortune—a manifestation of his own despair.

Overall, both dojutsu are quite effective.

Especially [Futsu-Kami].

Of course, [Watatsumi-Kami] is no slouch either. With enough luck, it becomes an ultimate divine skill—anyone touched by it will die.

"I'm okay."

Sasuke snapped out of his trance and saw the worry in Mikoto Uchiha's eyes. He said, "I've never felt this powerful before."

"Congratulations."

Natsume finally spoke, saying, "With the Mangekyo Sharingan, your strength has surpassed that of ordinary Jonin."

"Thank you, teacher."

Sasuke Uchiha replied gratefully.

He had managed to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, and Natsume bore most of the credit.

It was Natsume who ordered the Sealing Team to seal Satori inside him, significantly amplifying his dojutsu power.

Without that event, even if he had experienced extreme trauma today, awakening his eyes would still have been extremely difficult.

Back then, he had already fallen under Itachi Uchiha's Tsukuyomi, yet the awakening never did happen.

Yet it never did.

In the end, it was simply because he was too weak back then.

Sasuke Uchiha was confident he would eventually awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, but Natsume's help had definitely accelerated the process by several years.

"Sasuke"

Hesitating for a moment, Mikoto Uchiha said, "That… what I said earlier—it's true. You really do have a younger sister."

"Huh?"

Sasuke stood there stunned, unable to respond.
