Jeffrey suddenly paused, his dark eyes fixed intently on her.
She looked puzzled. "What's wrong?"
"What if I would?" he asked unexpectedly.
She froze for a moment, the smile on her face slowly fading.
Biting her lip, she looked at him seriously. "Jeffrey, I don't like being lied to. I believe that for any relationship to last, honesty and sincerity should be the bare minimum."
He remained silent, his gaze unwavering.
"Would you lie to me?" she asked, her heart suddenly racing with anxiety.
She feared his answer might be a simple "yes," worried that their values might not align after all.
If they couldn't agree on this fundamental point, how could they move forward together?
His hands, which had been resting at his sides, subtly clenched for a moment before he parted his lips and slowly said, "No."
Hearing this, she felt as if a heavy stone had dropped from her heart, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness, he wouldn't lie to her.
