"President Jeffrey, Josephine only did this for her friend," Kieran said firmly. "If she gets into trouble, I'll take the consequences for her."
"I don't need your help, Kieran! I can handle this myself!" Josephine snapped back, her voice sharp with stubbornness.
Kieran's brows furrowed. "Handle it? How can you possibly handle it?" His voice carried raw frustration, trembling at the edges.
"Fine!" Josephine raised her chin, her eyes blazing. "Let him beat me half to death if he wants! I'm prepared for that!"
