Chapter 426 - He was waiting for her in her rented apartment.

Maybe she should feel grateful.

When she had been with Jeffrey, they hadn't taken any precautions, but because of her previous uterine injuries, it was difficult for her to get pregnant.

So, at least, she didn't have to worry about that.

At least, there wouldn't be any children between her and Jeffrey. If they broke up, it would be a clean break.

Yet, deep down, there was a faint sting of regret.

If there had been a child, it would have been a family member bound to her by blood.

But now, without children, she would ultimately end up alone, without anyone truly connected to her.

Perhaps she would remain that way until she grew old and passed away.

Rachel forced a smile, but it softened when she saw Liam. Looking at his sweet, youthful face brightened her mood a bit.

She scooped Liam up and showered him with kisses, then shared the cake she had specially bought with him, making up for the fact that she hadn't treated him to cake on his last birthday.
