Rachel suddenly lifted her gaze, and their eyes met once again across the table, a charged, electric silence hanging thickly between them.
He smiled then, a gentle, knowing curve of his lips, his gaze softening as he looked at her. "So, you see, from the very beginning, it was you who led me into your world, wasn't it? Now, asking me why I can't let you go… it seems a bit too late for that, don't you think?"
Her heart felt like it had been struck a physical blow. Yes. If she hadn't brought the bleeding, lost boy he once was back to her apartment all those years ago, none of this would have ever happened!
