Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Loguetown - The Town of the Beginning and the End

Lin Mo sailed on the boat procured on Baratie across the sea.

His next destination for the sign-in task was Loguetown.

He opened his personal attribute panel.

He glanced over it briefly.

Lin Mo then closed the attribute panel.

Speaking of Loguetown, the first thing that came to his mind was the former Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

This was the town where Roger was born, and also the place where he was executed.

Therefore, Loguetown was also known as the town of beginnings and endings.

As for the famous landmark of Loguetown today, it was probably the execution platform in the central square, where Roger was executed.

After all, the former Pirate King Roger was an idol for many pirates.

Any pirate who came to Loguetown would likely visit the execution platform.

So, it was highly likely that visiting Roger's execution platform would trigger the completion of a sign-in task.

Once he arrived in Loguetown, he would definitely visit the execution platform.

As for who he might encounter in Loguetown, Lin Mo didn't care.

As long as he could complete the task, that was all that mattered.

Not thinking much more about it, Lin Mo took his wine gourd and began enjoying a drink.

Before leaving Baratie, Zepp had prepared plenty of rations and alcohol for him.

Food was never a problem for him.

After three full days of sailing, on the fourth morning, he finally saw a small island full of buildings.

His new sign-in destination, Loguetown, had arrived!

He docked the boat at the shore.

The moment Lin Mo's feet touched the ground, the system's notification sounded in his mind.

'Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully arriving at the sign-in destination Loguetown. Sign-in progress +10%, current total progress 10%. Reward: Beginner-level Swordsmanship Divine Avoidance, Armament Haki +1. Current Armament Haki Lv4.'

Information about Swordsmanship Divine Avoidance immediately appeared in his mind.

Lin Mo's eyes lit up.

Divine Avoidance was the sword technique of Pirate King Gol D. Roger, a technique where the sword is swung at high speed with Haki wrapped around it, delivering a flying slash that bypasses the opponent's weapon and directly hits their body.

This was a powerful sword technique.

Although it was only at the beginner level for now, its power should not be underestimated.

Lin Mo was quite satisfied with this reward.

Entering the town from the port, it was still early in the morning, so the streets were sparsely populated, and many shops hadn't opened yet.

Lin Mo walked down the street.

However, the town's streets were so complex that he quickly got lost...

Walking down the steps of a narrow alley, Lin Mo was about to ask someone for directions when he suddenly noticed a tavern named after Gol D. Roger.

Wasn't this the tavern where Luffy would visit in ten years?

Lin Mo raised an eyebrow and, without a second thought, pushed open the door and walked inside.

His wine was running low, so he figured he would replenish it here.

Following the spiral stone staircase down, he quickly arrived at a small wooden door in the tavern's basement that was only half his height.

Inside, there was only an old man with silver-white hair, setting up overturned stools on the tables, seemingly preparing to open for business.

Hearing the noise from the door, the tavern owner glanced over.

Seeing that it was just a young child, he said with a flat expression, "Get lost, kid. This isn't a place for someone like you."

Lin Mo, unfazed, pushed open the small wooden door and walked in, directly sitting at the barstool. In a calm tone, he said, "A bottle of rum."

Gol D. Roger had drunk rum at this tavern before.

Lin Mo wanted to see what the taste of the Pirate King's drink was like.

The tavern owner, seeing Lin Mo not leave and instead sit at the bar, stopped what he was doing and walked over with a blank expression. "Kid, do you even know how to drink?"

Lin Mo nodded.

The tavern owner lightly chuckled. "Then do you have money? I don't serve poor kids here."

Lin Mo pulled a handful of Berries from his pocket and placed them on the bar.

Seeing the Berries, the tavern owner took them without hesitation and casually grabbed a bottle of rum from the shelf, placing it in front of Lin Mo.

"This drink is strong, don't blame me if you get drunk after just a couple of sips. A kid like you won't handle it."

Lin Mo didn't respond to him.

He directly opened the bottle and took a large swig.

Just as the tavern owner had said, the moment it entered his mouth, Lin Mo felt a strong spiciness followed by a lingering richness, stimulating his throat.

Seeing Lin Mo's surprised reaction, the tavern owner laughed.

"How's that? Didn't I tell you? This drink isn't something a kid like you can handle."

Lin Mo put the bottle down and smiled slightly. "It's really good. Another two bottles, please."

"Huh?"

The tavern owner was stunned. "Are you sure you want two more bottles?"

Lin Mo nodded and continued drinking.

The tavern owner, puzzled, took two more bottles from the shelf and placed them in front of Lin Mo.

Lin Mo opened the bottles and poured them into his already empty wine gourd.

Just then, a sound of footsteps came from outside the tavern.

A tall man with silver short hair, two cigars in his mouth, a large coat with the word "Justice" on the back, and a ten-fingered weapon on his back pushed open the small wooden door and entered.

"Old man, I want a glass of rum."

Lin Mo turned his head and immediately recognized the man. It was the young Marine officer Smoker stationed at Loguetown.

At this time, Smoker looked young, in his twenties, probably freshly graduated from Marine school.

He should also be accompanied by a girl named Tashigi, who looked similar to Kuina, but considering the current timeline, Tashigi was still in Marine school and hadn't graduated yet.

The tavern owner seemed to dislike Smoker, and in an annoyed tone, he said, "Seeing that annoying guy first thing in the morning is bad luck. There's no alcohol for you here. Get out."

Without caring about the tavern owner's rude attitude, Smoker, still holding the cigars, sat next to Lin Mo.

"The business is so bad that even kids are being served. Looks like this tavern's going out of business soon."

He glanced at Lin Mo, who was drinking, and chuckled lightly at the tavern owner.

"Whether it goes out of business or not is none of your business," the tavern owner said angrily. "You're not welcome here. Get out, now!"

"Hahaha."

Smoker laughed but showed no intention of leaving.

At this moment, outside the tavern, a Marine soldier hurriedly entered.

"We found you here, Smoker. We got reports of pirates in the port. Please head to the scene immediately."

Upon hearing this, Smoker immediately stood up, not saying another word, and left the tavern.

Lin Mo, having filled his wine gourd, finished the remaining rum and jumped off the barstool.

The tavern owner, seeing him, asked, "Are you leaving?"

Lin Mo nodded lightly, left the money for the drinks, and left calmly.

Just as he stepped out of the tavern, a young man with a green rooster crest ran swiftly past him.
