The war had ended in a surprisingly simple way.
So simple that it bordered on the absurd.
An entire army—thousands of Super Devils standing shoulder to shoulder with the Hindu Gods themselves, the most powerful pantheon in the world—had been completely annihilated.
And, of course, the one responsible for all of it was Chaldea.
Every faction allied with Chaldea had survived with minimal losses, thanks to the timely intervention of the subordinates of Ryougi Kazuya, one of the most powerful existences in the world.
He had claimed third place in the ranking of supreme beings after that war, standing behind only Great Red and Ophis… and even then, only because no one had ever seen those two fight.
The reason he was regarded as the third strongest being in the world stemmed from his countless displays of power—feats so absurd that they had become living legends. He had enveloped the entire planet, dragging it into various "Pocket Dimensions"; exterminated Rezevim and Euclid as though they were mere flies, despite them being the leaders of the army that had attacked every faction; and won ancient battles against legendary names like Sirzechs, Susanoo, and even the wielder of the most powerful Longinus.
He also surpassed the very Red Lancer who had once defeated Shiva and wiped out the entire Hindu Faction. Back then, Shiva had occupied the exact position that now belonged to Kazuya. And how did everyone know this? Simple: the Red Lancer himself had admitted that he would lose to his "master" if they ever fought someday, thus cementing his own place in fourth.
But it wasn't just the two of them who had earned spots on the list of the ten strongest beings in the world.
At present, the truth was undeniable: the entire top ten belonged to Chaldea. Only the first two places—held by Great Red and Ophis—remained untouched, simply because they had never faced any member of Chaldea.
Even so, most people believed that certain members of the human organization possessed more than enough power to defeat them with ease. After all, some of them were terrifying. There was the "Witch of the Gentle Yet Terrifying Smile," who had exterminated every demon that attacked the heavens with astonishing ease; and the "Queen of Magic," who had protected the Underworld and annihilated entire legions of demons with a single magical attack. Along with many others who had become famous throughout the supernatural world.
However, the shifting "ranking" was merely the least of the events that followed the war.
First, the ordinary world—which had suffered the deaths of thousands of humans at the beginning of the conflict—was completely restored. Every person who had perished was revived, and all the destruction that had occurred vanished as if it had never existed.
What no one knew, however, was that not even True Magic would have been capable of performing a resurrection miracle on such a scale. The Five Magics could restore life within their own domains, but resurrecting the dead through conventional means was something Magic itself had not granted since ancient times.
Yet Kazuya possessed the [Fate Gacha]. By manipulating probabilities, he had managed to "crystallize" that power into an artifact created by Akasha itself, using it to bring back every single person who had been lost. To him, that was simply the most practical way to accomplish the feat.
On the other hand, recreating the world that had been destroyed in various places was something the "First Magic" had made relatively easy.
The most impressive part, however, was that every revived person—and those who had been kept safe inside "Pocket Dimensions"—had completely forgotten everything that had happened. They returned to their normal, peaceful lives as though nothing had ever occurred.
Meanwhile, the supernatural world had been completely overturned into the age of humans. No faction dared oppose anyone; all of them feared Chaldea too much to even consider challenging its authority. Those who had allied with them, in turn, were far too grateful to repay such benevolence with ingratitude.
And so, one month passed in the blink of an eye.
During that month, many things changed. Before, only Japan had been considered Chaldea's territory—a safe haven for humans with special powers, such as Sacred Gear wielders who feared being hunted by greedy supernatural beings.
But now the situation was completely different. Practically the entire planet was under Chaldea's protection. No matter where someone was in any corner of the world, humans lived in safety. No supernatural being dared raise a hand against them. No one would be foolish enough to provoke the organization that had defeated gods and demons as easily as one blows out a candle.
In practice, Kazuya's goal had been achieved. He had created a true utopia—a world where humans, previously treated as little more than cattle by supernatural beings, could finally live in peace.
And the world had not changed only in the supernatural sphere.
In the ordinary world, the technological advances developed by Chaldea had completely transformed society. Medicine, energy, transportation, and even education had evolved to levels that once seemed to belong only to science fiction. In a matter of weeks, the entire planet had become a reflection of the future—stable, prosperous, and safe.
Of course, there were still no flying cars or space colonies, but the technological evolution was undeniable. Medicine had reached a level never dreamed of: every known human disease had been eradicated, and even conditions once considered incurable—such as blindness and deafness—now had cures.
Moreover, ultra-realistic virtual-reality glasses and multifunctional artificial intelligences had become part of everyday life, assisting with everything from household chores to complex scientific research. The world had truly changed, and all of it was the direct result of Chaldea's influence.
And the best part was that the technology was used solely for good—there were no weapons, no research aimed at war. Every scientific discovery served only to protect, heal, and improve people's lives. Under Chaldea's influence, the very concept of conflict seemed to have vanished entirely from the human mind.
Everything was at peace…
…
The wind blew gently between buildings of glass and light, carrying with it the sweet scent of artificial flowers that decorated the suspended avenues. The streets were spotless, the sky an almost unreal shade of blue, and the digital signs blinked softly with advertisements for cafés, shops, and cultural events—nothing extravagant, just enough to give the city a lively, elegant, and deeply human atmosphere.
It was one of those places that seemed tailor-made to please the Queen of Assyria.
Semiramis walked beside Kazuya with her usual impeccable posture, her curious gaze sweeping over the tall buildings and the gleaming bridges that crossed the urban center. She wore a simple black dress, yet with that natural touch of elegance that made it impossible for anyone to look at her for long without becoming lost. Her long dark hair swayed in the breeze, and a faint, sincere smile played on her lips.
"You finally remembered that I exist."
Semiramis spoke calmly, but beneath that voice lingered a subtle bitterness—the kind of poison only a wounded woman knows how to disguise with grace.
Kazuya, walking beside her, kept his perpetually serene gaze. The wind lightly ruffled his dark hair, and he seemed more interested in watching the sunlight reflect off the glass windows than in answering.
"Hm," was all he murmured, without breaking his stride.
"'Hm'?" She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "Is that all you have to say to your wife who waited almost an entire month for a simple walk?"
Kazuya let out a soft sigh. He didn't sound annoyed, nor remorseful—just tired, the kind of tired that comes from knowing that no matter how much he explains, she will still be right.
"You know how busy things have been," he finally replied, glancing at her. "I had to reorganize the world, Semiramis."
He had indeed been extremely busy that past month, and his main task had been investigating the Dimensional Gap where Great Red lived, with Ophis's help—she wanted him to give "Baka-Red" a beating a few times while they explored the place. His goal was to understand how that realm connected to other worlds, especially those that, in the future, would bring forth the ExE Gods. He was also searching for a way to travel between dimensions—something that, until now, remained beyond his reach.
Although he possessed the ability to operate Parallel Worlds through the [Kaleidoscope], he still could not cross into entirely different universes—only parallel versions of his own.
And that frustrated him.
Now that he had fulfilled his grand objective—changing the standing of humans in this world—boredom was beginning to set in.
That was why he had decided to set a new goal: to explore the multiverse. He wanted to see with his own eyes the infinite possibilities that existed beyond the reality he knew… and perhaps, while traveling those worlds, fulfill his own personal wishlist.
"'Reorganize the world'…" she echoed with irony. "And yet you couldn't organize your own marital schedule."
He looked away, and a brief smile escaped before he could stop it. Semiramis noticed, of course.
"Are you laughing at me?" she asked, without raising her voice, but with that veiled threat that somehow made her tone curiously alluring.
"At you? Never," he said, still smiling faintly smiling. "I'm just… relieved. It's been a while since I last heard your complaints."
She gave him a sideways glance, suspicious, but her lips curved slightly, betraying that deep down, it pleased her.
"Hmph. You still have that infuriating talent for turning things in your favor," Semiramis murmured, looking ahead again.
They walked in silence for a few seconds, crossing a suspended walkway above the city's central lake. Reflections of light danced on the water, and small decorative drones drifted by slowly, emitting a golden glow like artificial fireflies.
"This place…" she began, softening her tone. "It's so beautiful. Especially knowing that everything is at peace now…"
"That's what I wanted," Kazuya replied, gazing at the scenery around them. "A world where no one has to fear anything."
"Not even you?" she asked, turning her eyes to him.
He didn't answer immediately. There was something distant in his gaze, perhaps a trace of loneliness that even Semiramis, with all her cunning, could not fully decipher.
"Maybe," he murmured at last. "But I don't want to think about that today."
Semiramis fell silent. For the first time during their walk, the provocative glint left her eyes. She stepped a little closer, her fingers lightly brushing his arm in a simple yet intimate gesture.
"Then just walk with me," she said softly. "Forget for a moment that you carry so many responsibilities in this world."
Kazuya looked at her. The wind blew again, and for an instant she looked exactly as the legends described her—a proud, dangerous queen who was also strangely, profoundly human.
He nodded wordlessly and let her lead him.
Semiramis guided him without hurry.
The streets shimmered under the gentle light of dusk, and the golden reflections on the glass towers wrapped everything in an almost dreamlike atmosphere.
"There's a new café on the top floor of that building," she said, pointing to an elegant tower a little farther ahead. "On my last visit, I heard rumors that the view is enchanting… and the place is private. Perfect for a civilized conversation."
"Private, huh?" Kazuya raised an eyebrow. "You're not plotting anything, are you?"
"Plotting?" She cast him a sidelong glance, wearing that slow smile that blended grace and danger. "My dear, if I were plotting something, you wouldn't have noticed until it was far too late."
He sighed in surrender, though a faint laugh shone in his eyes. "That's exactly what worries me."
The elevator carried them silently to the top floor, and when the doors opened, the aroma of fresh coffee and flowers enveloped them. The place was sophisticated yet understated: tables spaced apart, a transparent glass floor revealing the city far below, and an outdoor balcony with a panoramic view of the glowing horizon.
Semiramis chose a table by the window without waiting for him, sitting with the natural grace of someone born to be admired. She crossed her legs elegantly and rested her chin on her hand, watching him as he took the seat across from her.
It was time for a date with the oldest poisoner in the world.
