Chapter 276 - Chapter 276: Return Home

Chapter 276: Return Home

The length of time one can perceive while predicting the future may be directly linked to the magnitude of impact on the trajectory of fate.

The first time, Ryosuke chose to destroy the moon.

The future he predicted lasted only half a day—but the consequences of that single decision shook the entire ninja world. Even the galaxy felt the shock. Space had torn open. Black holes emerged.

There was no doubt: the weight of that future was immense.

It could've very well caused the explosion of the Ninja World's planet.

The second time, Ryosuke reconnected with the Hyūga clan, prompting them to take action against many factions in the ninja world—seizing interests, shifting power.

This, too, had far-reaching implications for the planet's civilization.

But since it didn't destroy the planet or disturb the stars themselves, the foresight duration extended to one month.

And the last time… Ryosuke did nothing.

He remained an observer—never revealing himself, only watching the ninja world from afar.

As a result, the foresight extended to three months before energy depletion pulled him out.

"Maybe… it could've lasted even longer," Ryosuke murmured.

He reflected aloud, "Even inaction can shift the fate line.

If I was meant to act—but chose not to… then those I didn't save, or didn't oppose—might've lived or died because of it."

After a thoughtful pause, he took his theory deeper.

"Maybe I don't belong to fate at all.

Maybe… every action I take is a deviation—so every choice I make, no matter how small, directly affects how long I can see into the future."

...

Mastering any ability was never simple.

It took Ryosuke years to develop a dojutsu from nothing—one powerful enough to intimidate even gods. And even more time to master it.

Unlike techniques like Pressure or Eighty Gods Vaccum Attack, which only required measuring destructive output and scaling the effect in battle—

Precognition was elusive. Abstract. More support than offense.

It couldn't be tested through combat damage or battlefield impact.

It had to be experimented with, measured, repeated, recorded, and analyzed. Again and again.

An exhausting process.

But Ryosuke wasn't someone who feared effort—only someone who hated not having direction.

So again and again, he tested his foresight on the moon, slowly coming to understand that chakra wasn't the only cost of this power.

Something else was being consumed.

"…Time."

That was the word that surfaced in his mind.

And then suddenly—he awoke.

He didn't know how long had passed.

Normally, even in darkness, Ryosuke could track time with the mental pendulum ticking in his soul.

But now?

After spending so long on the moon, he had lost that sense.

Each time he used precognition, he saw something new.

Though some scenes repeated, many changed drastically due to the smallest of details.

The novelty of it all slowly numbed his awareness.

Across dozens of predictions, he had returned to the ninja world over forty times, living countless years inside illusions of the future.

And somewhere along the way…

He lost track of reality.

---

In the crystal palace, Ryosuke stood, dazed.

His body had just recovered from his last foresight session.

He knew it was time to leave the moon.

He took a step forward, planning to activate a space-time ritual through the enhanced Rinnegan—one strong enough to bridge two planets.

But… he stopped.

The scene before him felt too familiar.

And his intent to leave the moon triggered hesitation.

The step he raised hung in mid-air, frozen.

Countless scenes of leaving the moon and returning to the ninja world flashed through his mind.

They all felt real.

Too real.

His thoughts spiraled. Was he still in the precognitive state… or had he finally returned to reality?

His head spun as the memories—past, future, maybe imagined—tangled in his mind.

He couldn't tell what was true anymore.

Maybe… I should stop. Just for a while.

The thought brought clarity.

He lowered his foot and stepped forward—

Only to wake up on the cold ground, dazed, staring at endless emptiness.

"It didn't end."

Ryosuke quickly realized—he had just discovered the abnormality while still inside the foresight.

So now… was this real?

He didn't hesitate.

He stood, stretched his limbs, and raised his hand, expression grave.

And then he noticed it.

His soul's control over his body—was weakening.

His thoughts… no longer fully his.

His soul was becoming detached from his physical self.

"Something's wrong…"

The wild excitement that once surged from unlocking foresight had now completely calmed.

"I lost myself in this power… and ignored its consequences."

"The sense of unreality… it's because I can no longer tell what's illusion and what's real."

"And the disconnection between body and soul… it's because my consciousness has wandered too long in the river of time.

I've become closer to my future self than to the person I am right now."

With that realization, Ryosuke made his decision.

No more.

He had to stop using foresight. At least, for now.

He needed to rest—to anchor himself again to reality.

With a deep breath, Ryosuke stared into the void.

The giant Tenseigan beside him flared.

Chakra surged from his body like a torrent.

Time passed.

And eventually, the air before him began to warp.

Without hesitation, he stepped into the distortion.

---

Land of Rain

Outskirts of the Capital—Forest Region

Fwoosh—

Ryosuke took a long, deep breath.

Cool air filled his lungs—the density so different from the cold vacuum of the moon.

Looking up, the blue sky and the sun's warmth greeted him.

Under its rays, his pale skin shimmered like white jade.

Beside him, the massive Tenseigan floated silently—an ever-loyal companion.

"So tired…"

He exhaled slowly.

"…But I feel like I've grown."

Being back in the Ninja World, Ryosuke felt something strange—an emotion he couldn't quite name.

Everything around him seemed veiled in mist.

And in that mist, invisible threads stretched across existence—connecting him to every living thing nearby.

They twisted and tangled like spiderwebs made of crystal light.

Just one glance at those threads made his head ache.

He had glimpsed fate.

Not entirely—but even a taste had consequences.

Both physically and spiritually, he was worn down.

But still… somewhere deep within—

Ryosuke could feel it.

His power had advanced.

This improvement wasn't physical. It wasn't about hardened muscles, sharpened speed, or overwhelming strength. It was a feeling—a shift in level. A sense that something greater was possible.

If Ryosuke could resolve the lingering aftereffects of exploring his ability, he might go even further. And if he truly mastered his power of precognition, he might reach a realm beyond comprehension—a realm of true gods. Beyond even Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, who claimed divinity. One who could manipulate life, death, the river of time, and the threads of cause and effect themselves.

But first...

Ryosuke slowly closed his eyes.

When they opened again, his pupils had reverted to the white Byakugan.

"Cough!"

A violent cough racked his body. In moments, Ryosuke had grown so thin he barely looked human, and the torrent of Tenseigan chakra within him ebbed into a mere trickle.

Just a few glances at the threads of fate and causality in the world had nearly drained him dry.

This marked the first time Ryosuke exited the Tenseigan state since its evolution.

He had always sought to master his power. Unlike others whose dojutsu couldn't be reversed after evolving, Ryosuke could shift between forms freely. But clearly, he could no longer treat the Tenseigan as something to be used casually.

Until he learned how to freely control his vision of fate's threads—to turn it off and on at will—he could only activate it briefly in battle.

"So..."

Ryosuke cast a conflicted glance at the giant Tenseigan beside him.

It had been his perfect companion while in the Tenseigan state. But now that he had returned to the Byakugan...

His eyes widened in surprise.

Even with just his Byakugan, he could still command the giant Tenseigan with ease.

More precisely...

The collective consciousness of millions of Ōtsutsuki housed within the massive Rinnegan still acknowledged him—still obeyed him.

"That's... unexpected."

Ryosuke had been worried. If he found himself in an extended battle against an equal, say if Kaguya Ōtsutsuki betrayed him and manipulated Uchiha Madara to fight, he would be at a disadvantage.

Activating the Tenseigan would overwhelm him with visions of past, future, and causality, possibly destroying him before the fight even began.

But now, he didn't need to worry.

Even if he couldn't use his own Pupil power...

He could use the giant one beside him.

It wasn't just a tool. Formed from countless Otsutsuki, it was practically alive.

"Then let's go home first."

Ryosuke's tone turned impatient. He hadn't returned home in ages. After losing his sense of time, he no longer knew how long he had been away.

Using the chakra of his Byakugan to drive the Tenseigan beside him, the space ahead began to twist.

Through the distortion, Ryosuke crossed the distance between cities—and returned home.

---

Outer Court, Hyūga Meeting Room

The moment he appeared, over a dozen eyes locked onto him.

"Ryo… Master Ryosuke?!"

Voices rang out in disbelief as Hyūga clansmen ran toward him.

At the same time, Hinata, seated with composed dignity at the head of the room, stood up.

Her joy was visible—but quickly restrained.

Ryosuke nodded calmly to the others and looked past them, his gaze meeting Hinata's.

"Master, we'll excuse ourselves."

The other Hyūga members tactfully exited, eager to spread word of Ryosuke's return.

Soon, only the two of them remained.

Hinata stared at him coldly, unmoving.

Ryosuke approached her with a sheepish smile and reached out to touch her hair—only for her to slap his hand away.

"Why was there no word from you?"

Her voice was sharp. There was no patience in it.

"You sent back everyone from the Land of Rain. Yet you couldn't even report that you were safe? That's not something that would cost you time."

Her tone grew colder. "Even Uchiha Madara came to the Land of Rain looking for you. But the one who fought him... not a single message."

"It's been so long. What, did you go to another world?"

From both a family and clan head's perspective, Hinata could not accept Ryosuke's disappearance.

Ryosuke stood by silently, eyes filled with guilt. He made no excuse.

He truly had been in the wrong.

After concluding the deal with Kaguya Ōtsutsuki in the Land of Water, he could have returned briefly to assure them. It would've taken less than three minutes.

But he hadn't considered it seriously.

Even after confirming his family's safety, he had let his obsession with training override everything else.

"Do you know how worried we were?"

"When Uchiha Madara came to the Land of Rain, we thought you had died! Father passed the clan head position to me. He wanted revenge—with the full might of the Hyūga!"

"Do you know how desperate I was?!"

Her voice cracked. Her emotions spilled.

"...Sorry."

Ryosuke lowered his head.

He had seen this very scene many times in his foresight.

After twenty predictions, in which he returned much later, Hinata scolded him in nearly the same way every time.

He even knew what she would say before she said it.

But still, he listened. Every word.

"What's the point of sorry? Do you really see us as family?"

"You disappear without a word... and reappear just as suddenly."

"Do you know how I felt, how Father and Hanabi felt, waiting for you? We thought maybe, just maybe, you'd come home for the new year… but instead, you chose to train out there. Do you know how dangerous that was?!"

Her anger rang through the room.

But then—

Ryosuke stiffened.

That line.

It had never appeared in any of his predicted futures.

"This year?"

His heart trembled.

Suddenly, he realized something critical had escaped his notice.

And in his mind— the progress bar he thought was full...

Had reset.

When had it started?

When had it ended?
