Chapter 2 - The Don: 2

"Uh, sir?"

"What's up, Nakamura?" I asked as I looked up from my bowl of extra-large ramen, the young man with blonde hair and silver eyes glancing at the two other bowls on the table besides me before turning back to me with an unsure look.

"Why did you want to take a look at your accounts?"

"Oh, I wanted to call an investment agent or whatever they're called and see if I can't invest some of my money into a few starting companies as well as a few charities."

"Ah, the latter for tax-deductions, sir?" He asked and I finished my bowl of ramen before giving him a sly smirk as I placed the empty bowl down on the others and shrugged.

"Who knows? Since my show could also be seen as a business of the entertainment district, I have some benefits that most actors don't. Now, did you go and check out my accounts like I asked?"

"Uh, right! Here you go, sir." He said as he handed them over and I adjusted my glasses that I picked up from the bedside table before taking them and reading through the papers in front of me one by one.

'…Either Don Kanonji is from a rich family or his shows made him a multi-millionaire.' I thought while hiding my shock as best as I could as I saw the nine figures staring back at me and that was just from one account.

Granted it was in yen and not dollars, but that's still a crap ton of money for just one account and that is insane to my middle-class mind.

"Hey, Nakamura. How much am I paying you a month?"

"Uh, about one million a month, sir, w-which I am very thankful for as it is well above the average salary!" Nakamura quickly added as I looked up and I hummed as I nodded while looking back down.

"Hmm, remind me to raise it to ten."

"W-What?" He asked while nearly choking on his spit, but I just chuckled & nodded as I placed the papers down.

"I visit five places on average a month. That's 15 million for an appearance and another 25 million if they want me to exorcise the spirit, which is almost two out of five times. It wouldn't even hurt my account to raise your salary by that much. Besides, I can see that you don't take my money like the last assistant I had so you deserve it."

"T-Thank you, sir." Nakamura spoke with a teary smile and I chuckled and nodded as I stood up from the sofa while patting him on the shoulders before looking at the bags of luxury clothes in front of me.

"Did you go with a few casual outfits as well?"

"Long-sleeved button-up shirts and comfortable yet exquisite trousers just how you like them, sir." He said and I smirked as I reached into a bag and pulled out an exquisite purple dress shirt with a light violet suit and gold accents of the same material,, smirking as I went to pick out a pair of pants and shoes that would compliment them.

'One of the benefits of having money: I can buy as much crap as I want.'

"How do I look?" I asked as I adjusted the collar while turning to Nakamura who answered by clapping his hands politely.

"Amazing, sir. Simply amazing."

"Thank you, but you don't have to be a yes-man. I hired you because you speak your mind and I want that type of expertise now."

"Then, if I may…" He trailed off as he walked towards the bag and I hummed as I reached into a bag before pulling out two boxes.

"A necklace and a watch might compliment your outfit, sir."

"Gold?"

"A gold pendant with an amethyst gem and a gold watch just as you like it, sir."

"Wonderful." I spoke with a smile as I took both boxes, slowly opening them and marvelling at the incredible make of the watch and necklace before taking them out and putting them one by one.

"Now, sir, you look exquisite."

"That sounds better than amazing. So, how does my schedule look like?" I asked as I adjusted the necklace to make it sit better while Nakamura frowned as he pulled out his phone and pressed a few buttons.

"Um, you only have one appointment at the Doryodo Ruins in Hachioji and tomorrow, an appointment in some place called Karakura Town. Apparently, the mayor has paid for an exorcism to be done at its abandoned hospital and he has paid the early access fee as well to make sure he gets to the front of the line."

'That is most definitely the event where Ichigo and Don Kanonji of the canon universe fought against that Demi-Hollow.' I thought with a frown as I hummed and nodded as I walked over to pick up my cane from the bed before smirking as I picked it up and turned to Nakamura with a flourish, making him chuckle as I slowly picked up the hat on the bed and put it on.

Did the whole outfit make me look like A-Pimp-Named-Slickback? You damn right, but there's one difference between him and me.

'I make this shit look good.'

"Now then, dear Nakamura, let us head off to the Ruins first."

As Nakamura drove us to the first and only job of the day, I was busy with my own thing as I slowly rotated twin orbs made out of a pure gold energy above my right hand while balancing another larger orb on my left hand while my cane sat in my lap.

Apparently, thanks to the fusion of Donovan and Don Kanonji, my spiritual energy has easily grown to twice of what it was before, if not more.

Not just that, but my control over it was also a bit better and its potency made the air around the orb slightly tremble and hum as I spun the orbs in my right hand.

'I guess since Donovan was a control freak in his life that needed to be able to control everyone and everything around him, this gave me some more control over my spiritual energy than I had before. That and spiritual energy is more mental than physical since Shinigami mostly train in their mindscapes so two souls fusing into one would boost my power tremendously.'

"I believe Shinigami become stronger by synchronizing and growing alongside their Zanpakuto, so it would make sense that two souls fusing into one would also boost the power of the resulting soul." I muttered out loud with a hum, thankful for the fact that I was alone in the back of the SUV as I dismissed and absorbed the energy back into my body.

That's another thing I have noticed while tinkering with my spiritual energy.

I knew that Reishi was the spiritual energy one could find in the atmosphere of the living world, with the Reishi of the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo being far more denser than that of the living realm, but I found out that I could not only manipulate the spiritual power within my body but also the spiritual energy of the world around me.

Granted, I can only do little things such as making my cane float or picking up my glasses from the couch, but that was still something and that's all that counted.

While I did think that this made me a Fullbringer if I'm remembering the classification and its description correctly, I also could feel my own spiritual energy and I didn't feel anything that felt like the Hollows that I have 'exorcised' over the course of my career.

'Maybe I'm just a spiritually blessed human. Hmm, I think I'll do a few more experiments later.' I thought as I felt the car coming to a still, putting my glasses in my jacket pocket and picking my cane up before nodding at Nakamura as he opened the door.

"Don Kanonji! Might I say it is an honour to have you here to solve our problem!"

"Ms. Ichikawa, the mayor of the neighbouring town." Nakamura whispered as I climbed out and I gave him a thankful smile as I walked over and shook her hand while noting the group of men dressed in black suits stationed around the area.

"Ms. Ichikawa! A pleasure to meet you too! I'm guessing my destination is down this dirt path, yes?" I asked as I took off my hat, necklace and watch and handed them over to Nakamura, nodding as Ms. Ichikawa smiled and nodded.

"That is correct, sir. We normally wouldn't bother with the shrine, but there have been some…unknown phenomena happening around the area to people using the nearby hiking paths so I had to hire the best ghost hunter in Japan to take care of the job."

"Exorcist, Ms. Ichikawa. A slight difference between the two."

"Ah, forgive my lack of information. So, will this perhaps take long?" She asked and I chuckled and shook my head as I looked down the path that led to the shrine.

"Not at all, but like I tell everyone that I have helped, stay behind Nakamura and do not interfere." I could see the doubtful looks of Ms. Ichikawa's men even as she nodded and walked to be behind Nakamura, to whom I nodded before taking a deep breath as I began walking.

As soon as I took that first step on the dirt path, I had to stop for a moment as I felt how impure and sickly the Reishi in the air felt compared to the Reishi in the air around the path, taking a few deep breaths before I lifted my cane.

The next moment, gasps and surprised grunts echoed behind as I slammed it point down onto the ground with a pulse of spiritual energy, watching as the shockwave travelled down the path for a few meters before frowning as I heard a loud roar in the distance.

"Nakamura, it's a live one. Take a few more steps back." I answered as I felt rumbling footsteps growing closer, hearing my assistant agreeing before telling everyone to move back a few more meters.

It was not even a moment later that a loud roar echoed down the path right before the Hollow finally turned the corner, having taken the shape of a large ox with a white mask that had black & dark brown markings on it.

"Food!" The Hollow roared as it charged towards me and I simply smirked as I stood tall while placing my hands on top of each other on my cane.

Waiting until the beast was nearly upon me, I chuckled as I easily created a small orb in front of me, the Hollow's mask connecting with it right before it was sent blasting back through the air in a smoky arc.

Creating another two golden orb at my sides, I rotated them around me as I walked closer to the Hollow, who shook its head before standing up once more as it growled at me.

"Me eat you!" It roared and I snorted as the orbs around me began to spin faster while a third orb joined them.

"Hmm, rest in peace, spirit." I answered in response as I turned the three orbs into drill-shaped arrows, each letting off a shock wave as I sent them flying through the air and deep into the body of the Hollow.

It roared in pain as the arrows sent it falling to its side once more, but I wasn't done as I snapped my fingers, waiting with a smile as the Hollow's body bulged out obscenely before exploding and sending its flesh flying everywhere.

Not wanting to be stained, I created another big orb in front of me before flattening it into a circular shield, the flesh of the Hollow burning to nothingness the moment they touched the shield before I dismissed it as its flesh began to wither away.

However, I was surprised to find a crying young woman sitting in the middle of the path where the Hollow's corpse was, walking closer and holding my cane at my side as I knelt down in front of her.

"I'm sorry, Oba-Sensei! I'm so sorry~!"She sobbed and I frowned slightly as I reached forward and touched her shoulder. Ignoring the cold feeling across my arm as I touched the spirit, her eyes widened as she looked up and I finally saw the rope marks around her neck.

"Are you the spirit that died here?" I asked and she sniffed while nodding slowly, to which I smiled before standing up and holding a hand out.

In response, she looked a bit hesitant before softly taking my hand, to which I waited and let her take her time as she slowly stood up with my help.

"Do you have any regrets, my dear?" I asked and smiled as she nodded.

"What are they?"

"I…I wanted…to be with Oba-sensei."

"I'm certain this Oba-sensei is waiting for you in the next life. All you need to do is let go and pass on." I spoke and felt my heartstrings being plucked as she gave me a hopeful look.

"W-Will he?"

"Of course, all you need to do is to have no more regrets."

'Hopefully, he's in Hell like he belongs.' I thought with a hidden frown as the spirit looked down at the floor, looking to be in thought before looking back up at me.

"What…what if he's not there?"

"Then, you'll have a life of eternity in Paradise to look for him. All you need is belief and faith."

'Man, I'd be a good politician with the amount of bullshit I'm talking.' I knew for a fact that the Soul Society was anything but paradise, but as long as she's reborn in one of the villages closest to the Seireitei, then I'd be happy.

"O-Okay. I'm…I'm ready to go."

"Good to hear. Namu Amida Butsu." That was a chant that Don Kanonji always used on his show to make it seem as if spirits have passed on, but this time, I smiled as I saw her close her eyes while her body was obscured in a white glow.

The final thing I saw was a peaceful smile before her body vanished like a mirage, leaving me standing in the middle of the path before I smiled as I felt the impure Reishi fading away and making the pure Reishi around the area fill its place.

'Whatever god is listening, please…make sure her spirit gets some rest.' I knew no one was listening, but Donovan always did this in his past life as some kind of comforting mechanism to make sure his loved ones passed on to a peaceful paradise at funerals.

"Is it done, sir?" I heard Nakamura ask and my cane flew to my grasp as I turned around, a smile appearing on his face as I smiled and nodded before turning to the shocked group behind him.

"There's no need for any more worries, Ms. Ichikawa. The spirit has passed on and the ruins are peaceful once more. If any other spirit comes back, I'll come back and exorcise them for free if that's okay?"

"T-That is more than okay, Mr. Kanonji. Thank you once again for your service!" She spoke with a happy smile as she shook my outstretched hand and I chuckled and nodded before taking my things from Nakamura and putting them on once again.

"Nakamura, think you could find a ramen spot nearby?" I asked as we started walking back to the car and he chuckled and nodded as he took out his phone

"I can see if there are any stalls open."

"Ah, a friend that understands my heart. Also, make sure they can make extra large bowls. All these exorcisms are making me hungry."

"It was one, sir, and it was barely a minute long. You spent most of it talking instead of working." He answered and I rolled my eyes with a snort as I nodded.

"Indeed, talking to a spirit is a very important factor of being an exorcist."

"Of course, it is, sir. Just a ramen place?"

"Find a good sushi place while you're at it too."

"Will do."

A/N: And the chapter ends off on a good note. This is a short one because I just wanted to showcase Don Kanonji's abilities and skill as well as how good they work.

Also, Don Kanonji, not a Fullbringer. Just a human with an above average to make it clear and to make it clear, there's a reason on why he's able to do what he does later in the story.

Next chapter, off to Karakura Town and meeting the MC.
