Chapter 154 - Chapter 154

Two Days Later

Luo Lan arrived at the Naval Design Bureau.

Joining her were Deputy Branch Chief Hina, Head of Science Seras, Deputy Head of Science Xisovis, and the shipyard foreman, Kairo.

"Roy, everyone's here. You may begin!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Director Roy of the Naval Design Bureau stood up and nodded.

"Everyone, this is our second-generation warship, codenamed internally as the Haither-class."

He unfurled a design blueprint and began his presentation.

"The Haither-class warship is 218 meters long and 31 meters wide. It has a standard displacement of 20,900 tons and a full load displacement of 26,700 tons, with a crew capacity of 1,392 personnel."

"Powered by four high-output Cola turbines, the ship reaches a standard cruising speed of 18 knots and a maximum speed of 30 knots, with a range of 9,200 nautical miles."

"Its main battery consists of four twin-mounted 320mm/52-caliber guns with a maximum firing range of 17 nautical miles."

"For secondary armament, it has eight 127mm/55-caliber turrets."

"Additionally, we've specially designed integrated anti-aircraft autocannons—there's no longer a need to manually install heavy machine guns. These offer greater range and firepower. A total of 24 anti-aircraft autocannons have been installed on the ship."

"Everyone, this is the largest and most powerful warship we've built to date!"

Roy was visibly excited—this battleship was truly something to be proud of.

"Not bad," Luo Lan affirmed with a nod, then turned to Seras.

"Seras, how about you explain all the new toys onboard?"

"Yes, Captain!"

Seras also stood up. After all, many of the ship's new systems had been developed by the Science Division.

Without their work, even someone as talented as Roy wouldn't have been able to design such a formidable vessel.

"Everyone, there are quite a few new technologies on this ship, but I'll highlight the three most important ones."

"First, the radar system!"

"After Captain Hina pointed out that the radar range couldn't keep up with the gun range, we invested significant effort into upgrading the Observation-type radar."

"After two months of refinement, we've completed the second-generation Observation Radar System."

"Compared to the first generation, its range amplification for Observation Haki has increased from tenfold to thirtyfold. Unfortunately..."

"Because the main guns' range has increased so drastically, the radar still can't keep up for most people—only someone at the Captain's level can match the ship's full range with their Observation Haki."

"Next, this new radar can now quantify a person's power level—it can estimate their 'doriki' with a margin of error of ±7%."

"Of course, this only reflects physical strength—it doesn't account for things like Devil Fruit abilities or swordsmanship."

"As for how it looks in action, I brought a little demo device for reference."

He placed a small gadget on the table.

"This is a portable doriki scanner. It works on the same principles as the Observation Radar, but with limited functionality."

"To use it, just flip the lens and wear it over your right ear."

Luo Lan's lips twitched.

Why did this thing look so familiar?

The design...

Wasn't this exactly like the scouters from Dragon Ball?

Following Seras's instructions, Luo Lan put on the device and looked at him through the lens.

A string of numbers appeared:

778...

Well, damn. No wonder—he's an S-rank bio-enhanced human.

According to the system, only S-rank and above bio-humans could benefit from system-built facilities—like gaining physical enhancements from mess hall food.

Seras didn't need to train, and yet his doriki had already reached 778?

Ridiculous.

He then turned to Hina.

6,872 doriki?!

After the gravity training center enabled 20x gravity levels, Hina's physical strength had skyrocketed.

After playing with the gadget for a while, Luo Lan removed it and handed it to Hina.

Then he turned back to Seras.

"This thing's pretty neat. What else do you have?"

"Captain, I'm glad you asked. The third upgrade to the Observation Radar is... attack prediction!"

"Attack prediction?"

"Yes!" Seras nodded, looking excited.

"Remember when you told me that some people, after mastering Observation Haki, can briefly foresee the future?"

"Well, this feature mimics that very ability!"

"When activated and supplied with a strong, continuous flow of Observation Haki, the system can highlight all incoming attacks that pose a threat to the ship, including their projected trajectories."

"But currently, the prediction window is only three seconds."

---

Luo Lan didn't even know what to say anymore.

These researchers... weren't they a bit too amazing?

Now they'd even recreated future sight?

At this rate, were they going to invent things like Conqueror's Haki Cannons or Greatsword Shockwave Launchers?

Even if it was only a three-second prediction window, in battle, those three seconds could be life-saving.

And it sounded like Seras planned to extend that window even further in the future.

"Seras, is there a portable version of this?"

"Uh... no. It requires too many large systems—making a portable version isn't possible."

"Fair enough. Just asking."

Although slightly disappointed, Luo Lan quickly accepted it.

"You've explained the Observation Radar—what are the other two features?"

Earlier, Seras had said there were three important new systems.

With the second-gen radar already so impressive, Luo Lan was now even more intrigued by the remaining two.

"The second is the Automatic Ballistic Calibration System!"

"Huh?"

Luo Lan blinked.

What's that good for?

"Captain, do you remember how we had to erect a massive metal mast—dozens of meters high—on the first-generation battleship?"

"Yes, because without it, we couldn't spot enemies 12 nautical miles away, making it impossible to use the full range of our guns."

"Exactly! But even with elevated observation or the radar, we still couldn't accurately calibrate shots—we had to rely on repeated shelling and manual corrections."

Luo Lan nodded again.

That was indeed the case.

While the Observation Radar was useful for detecting targets and gauging strength, it couldn't provide pinpoint accuracy.

So, targeting adjustments had to be made manually, leading to poor hit rates.

But now—Seras had solved this too?

The thought made Luo Lan genuinely excited.
