Selene~
I leaned against the door as my chest rose and fell rapidly. My palms were sweaty and my body was trembling as Sophia's words repeated endlessly in my head.
Cassidy, was it? She didn't look so good…
I pressed my hand to my forehead and forced myself to close the door. Cassidy was safe, she was in bed, breathing normally. She was safe.
"You're okay," I whispered in an attempt to reassure myself. "She's okay."
I made my way for my room. I closed the door behind me and was about to change out of my clothes when I heard a chilling voice behind me.
"You sure you want to do that while I'm here?"
Every muscle in my body stiffened as I slowly turned my head towards the voice. I recognized it, it wasn't a voice I could easily forget.
Alaric was sitting on my bed with his legs crossed and his shoes intact. His lips curved into a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he watched me.
"How…" my voice cracked. "How did you get in here?"
