Saitama didn't say more.
These grades shouldn't be too bad for class placement. Besides, I'm from the renowned Uchiha clan, known for producing geniuses. Even if they don't respect me personally, they wouldn't dare assign an Uchiha to a class filled entirely with dead last commoners.
In Saitama's impression, the Konoha Ninja Academy wasn't supposed to have so many unnecessary formalities.
After all, from what he remembered of the anime, aside from a few standout "plot-armored" classmates, the rest of the students were just background extras.
Class divisions weren't supposed to be so rigid or significant!
Saitama figured there was something fishy going on with the way the classes were divided. The entrance exam must have been a show to deceive those who didn't know any better.
Thinking about this made Saitama feel irritated. All that running earlier—he felt like a fool for taking it seriously.
---
In the end, only about a dozen or twenty students completed the entrance exam—shockingly few compared to the hundreds that had crowded the Academy grounds at the start.
But the instructor, a stern-looking chunin in standard Konoha gear, didn't seem surprised at all. It was as if he had expected this outcome.
"Everyone, stand at attention!"
After letting them rest for a while, the teacher finally spoke.
"The class assignments are out. Listen carefully to your placements."
---
As Saitama had expected, the division was anything but fair.
From what he heard, the class he was assigned to was filled almost exclusively with children from prestigious clans—Uchiha, Hyuga, Nara, Aburame, and the like. There were very few commoners.
The only exception was Iruka Umino, whose academic scores were exceptional despite being the son of two regular shinobi.
"Saitama, Shisui! We're in the same class. Please take care of me from now on!"
Iruka was visibly excited, hearing his name announced right after Saitama and Shisui.
"Alright, everyone, follow your assigned groups and head to your classrooms!" the teacher barked.
The moment he finished speaking, the students scattered like startled birds. In just moments, the training field was empty.
Saitama was assigned to First Year, Class A. Just from the name, it was clear this was the elite class.
Not that he cared much. It was all within his expectations.
With casual steps, Saitama headed toward the classroom, followed closely by his two new acquaintances, Shisui and Iruka, who were still chatting quietly behind him.
Along the way, students who recognized him instinctively made way. After all, he had ranked high in the entrance exam—and more importantly, he bore the Uchiha crest.
Walking through the Academy halls, he entered the classroom without obstruction, noticing that several students had already taken their seats.
Looking at those youthful, eager faces, Saitama felt a surge of smugness.
This is where I start my rise to the top of Konoha.
A true genius can't afford to blend in with the crowd.
Leading his small entourage, Saitama made his way straight to the back row.
After all, in his mind, the real big shots always sat at the back.
"Saitama, why are we sitting all the way here?"
Iruka, who had been warned by his parents to study hard before enrolling, looked confused.
In his mind, sitting closer to the teacher meant learning better—after all, you could ask questions whenever you wanted.
"You can still study hard back here, Iruka. Look at those flashy types in the front row."
"Wouldn't it be annoying to sit with them and get dragged into their little acts?"
"So it's better to stay back here where it's peaceful."
Iruka and Shisui glanced at the students sitting in the front rows. They looked like regular kids to them. What was so flashy about them?
Still, even if they didn't fully understand Saitama's logic, it somehow made sense... so they obediently sat with him in the last row.
---
After a while, more students trickled in, and the classroom grew lively.
Many students were meeting each other for the first time, while others already knew each other from clan gatherings. The noise level in the room steadily rose.
At that moment, a middle-aged man wearing a jonin vest walked into the classroom, holding a thick stack of documents. His expression was stern.
The moment he entered, the classroom quieted immediately. Even the children from the big clans still felt respect—or at least a bit of fear—toward their teacher.
"Good morning, everyone."
The teacher introduced himself.
"My name is Nobita Kitahara. I'll be your homeroom teacher and one of your instructors for the next few years."
"First of all, congratulations on being assigned to Class A..."
He launched into the usual speech about working hard, protecting the village, and fulfilling the Will of Fire. Saitama, sitting at the back, was already struggling to stay awake.
"Saitama, Saitama!"
Shisui, sitting on his left, nudged him.
"Huh? What is it?"
Saitama opened his eyes halfway, still groggy, and looked at Shisui.
"It's your turn to introduce yourself!"
"Tch... what a cliché," Saitama grumbled.
Looking at the teacher, who was smiling expectantly, Saitama sighed, got to his feet lazily, and introduced himself with his usual arrogance.
"My name is Uchiha Saitama... and I'm destined to become the strongest shinobi in the world."
