Lana muttered in disbelief after reading the document in her hand. Her voice was faint, almost as if she wasn't even aware she had spoken out loud. Her lips barely moved, yet the weight of her words filled the quiet office.
Her eyes scanned the paper again, slower this time, as though each line might reveal something different if she looked hard enough.
But no matter how many times she read it, the numbers remained the same. They mocked her disbelief.
"I don't know how you guys did it, but I'm really impressed. Good job, you two."
Then in front of her, Lillen declared that, smiling ear to ear.
Her tone was cheerful, almost celebratory, as if a heavy burden had been lifted off her shoulders. There was genuine relief in her voice, the kind that only came when an impossible task had been surpassed.
