Chapter 6: The Line Between Love and Danger

The day started quietly for Leo, but inside, his heart was a storm. The memories of Kai haunted him—his calm demeanor, the subtle warmth of his presence, and the void his absence left behind. But Leo was determined. He stood before the mirror in his luxurious penthouse, his expression resolute.

"No more," he whispered to himself. "Kai is my past. I have to move forward."

With that thought, he packed a small bag, ignoring the sting in his chest, and made a call to his private pilot. By the afternoon, Leo had boarded his private jet, leaving behind the city that held too many painful memories.

---

Meanwhile, in the shadows of the underground, Kai was immersed in his role as a high-ranking member of the Black Feather. The dark corridors of the gang's hideout buzzed with activity. Kai sat at the head of a long table, surrounded by his team. The tension in the room was palpable.

"Sir," one of his lieutenants, a wiry man named Ray, spoke up, breaking the silence. "We've intercepted a message. Someone's planning a hit."

Kai leaned back in his chair, his sharp eyes narrowing. "Who?"

Ray hesitated before answering. "Not us directly, but... they're targeting Leo."

The mention of Leo's name sent a chill down Kai's spine. His calm façade cracked for a split second before he regained his composure. "Why him?" he demanded.

"They know you care about him," Ray said cautiously. "They believe hurting him will destroy you."

Kai clenched his fists, the veins on his arms bulging. He hadn't spoken to Leo in years, but that didn't change the fact that Leo was his weakness. Without a word, Kai pushed back his chair and stormed out of the room.

---

Kai's car screeched to a halt in front of Leo's office building. He ran inside, his usually stoic demeanor replaced with visible panic. "Where's Leo?" he barked at the receptionist.

The young woman looked up, startled. "Mr. Leo left this morning. He didn't say where he was going."

Kai cursed under his breath. He tried calling Leo's phone, but it went straight to voicemail. He sprinted to Leo's penthouse, only to find it eerily empty. The realization hit him like a ton of bricks—Leo was gone.

---

At the airport, Leo gazed out of the jet's window as the city shrank beneath him. His heart felt heavy, but he knew this was the right decision. "Goodbye, Kai," he murmured under his breath.

---

Back at the Black Feather's headquarters, Kai paced furiously. His mind raced with thoughts of Leo's safety. He couldn't sit still; every moment wasted was a step closer to danger. Finally, he turned to Ray.

"Track him. I don't care what it takes," Kai ordered. "Find Leo and protect him at all costs."

Ray nodded, understanding the urgency in Kai's voice.

---

Kai's search for Leo became an obsession. He scoured every lead, every clue, but it felt like chasing a ghost. Leo had deliberately left no trace, making it nearly impossible for Kai to find him.

In the quiet moments between the chaos, Kai sat alone, his head in his hands. For the first time in years, he felt helpless. The weight of his emotions pressed down on him like an anchor. He thought about the life he'd chosen, the sacrifices he'd made, and the one person who had ever truly mattered.

"I won't let them hurt you, Leo," he vowed, his voice barely above a whisper.

But time was running out, and Kai knew that he couldn't protect Leo alone. It was a race

against the clock, and the stakes had never been higher.
