H–How… how is that even possible?!
Jaws dropped across the scene.
Everyone stared wide-eyed, as if they'd just witnessed a god descend from the sky.
Even though they had already seen Alex casually kill two of Mr. Freeze's men with just a wave of his hand—
this?
This was on a completely different level.
An entire squad of officers had been flung five or six meters back!
The shock of that image couldn't even be put into words.
> "What… what is he?!"
It wasn't just the civilians who were stunned—
even Batman couldn't keep his composure.
A look of pure disbelief spread across his face.
His eyes locked on Alex, his mind churning like a storm.
In all his life, Batman had never seen anyone like this.
For a brief moment, he even wondered if Alex was an alien straight out of a movie.
Otherwise… how could any human possess such terrifying power?
---
> "What happened just now?"
"Can anyone explain that?"
"Homelander just waved his hand and the cops went flying?"
"Dear God, what did I just see!?"
Across Gotham, citizens watching the live broadcast were exploding with disbelief.
The previous battle inside the jewelry store had been too confined;
the footage had been blurry and unclear.
No one had truly seen how Alex had killed Mr. Freeze's men.
But now—
this unbelievable scene was captured clearly.
Every second of it.
Every frame.
No one could stay calm.
---
Alex, however, didn't care.
He walked away casually, unfazed by the chaos he'd just unleashed.
Commissioner Gordon's men lay groaning on the ground, powerless to stop him.
They could only watch as Homelander strode off like a king among insects.
---
> "Homelander!"
Batman wasn't ready to give up yet.
He darted forward, cape billowing in the wind.
Alex paused and turned around with a faint, amused smile.
> "Batman… you're going to stop me?"
Batman's jaw tightened.
His lips twitched, but he didn't move.
He wasn't a fool.
After all this—
he knew perfectly well that he couldn't stop Homelander.
He'd already been beaten twice before.
Still, his voice was steady when he finally spoke:
> "I will stop you. Maybe not now… but one day."
Alex chuckled.
> "I'll be looking forward to that."
And he meant it.
This wasn't arrogance—
he was genuinely curious.
This was Batman we were talking about.
A mere mortal who had once bested Superman,
a man who knew the weaknesses of everyone in the Justice League.
How would he try to deal with Alex?
The thought actually intrigued him.
---
Batman, meanwhile, could only watch as Homelander vanished into the distance.
But deep inside, a fierce determination ignited.
> I will find his weakness.
There has to be a way to stop him.
A second later—
Fwoosh!
Batman fired his grappling hook,
his figure rising swiftly into the night sky,
disappearing among the rooftops.
Leaving behind only trembling police officers
and a swarm of breathless reporters.
---
Gotham erupted.
The entire city boiled over in chaos.
Once again, the name "Homelander" swept through Gotham like wildfire.
If his massacre of the city's criminals had shaken Gotham before,
then this battle against Mr. Freeze was like dropping a nuclear bomb.
The city was trembling to its core.
---
> "Homelander's eyes really shoot lasers! It's true!"
"He must be a messenger of God—he's not human!"
"He waved his hand and people flew! That's divine power!"
"No—he's a magician! A god in human form!"
Every corner of Gotham buzzed with awe and terror.
Alex had become something beyond a hero.
He was a living god.
---
But amid the worship, there was unease.
Because Homelander was not what they'd expected—
not a righteous hero who fought for justice.
Heroes didn't hit reporters on live television.
Heroes didn't kill so casually.
If anything, Alex's actions showed just how dangerous his temper truly was.
And maybe…
just maybe, he really wasn't the "good guy" he claimed not to be.
A man with such overwhelming power,
whose morality no one could predict—
how could Gotham ever feel safe?
---
Still, one thing was certain:
the city's criminals were utterly crushed.
Even most of the supervillains had gone quiet.
The rational ones—like Penguin, Poison Ivy, and Killer Croc—
knew better than to challenge a monster like that.
Others, however—
like Joker, the Riddler, Scarecrow, and Ra's al Ghul—
were different.
Some were geniuses.
Some were lunatics.
Some had power, others had influence.
They were impressed by Alex's might,
but not afraid enough to stop scheming entirely.
Still, even they took his warning seriously.
For now, Gotham was silent.
No one dared make a move.
---
Two full weeks passed.
Not a single crime occurred.
Alex—Homelander—had single-handedly brought peace to Gotham.
And at that moment, he finally felt proud enough to say to Batman:
> "See? No criminals in Gotham. I did it."
---
A smile spread across his face.
> "Which means… it's time for Bruce Wayne to pay up."
With that, Alex made up his mind.
In a blur, his figure vanished from the spot.
And the next instant—
He was standing in Wayne Manor.
