Screee! Screee!
It wasn't just the massive Dweller-in-Darkness emerging from the shattered seal.
A swarm of tiny monsters burst out with it—countless shadowy creatures flapping their wings as they filled the sky.
They were Soul Eaters.
Alex had never bothered studying their relationship to the Dweller-in-Darkness, but he knew one thing:
These things fed souls to the demon.
Individually small—
But in overwhelming numbers.
And worst of all—
They were immune to normal attacks.
Only weapons forged from dragon scales—the power of the Great Protector—could harm them.
Which meant:
Anyone without Ta Lo's dragon-scale weapons was helpless.
Gulp.
Gulp.
A chorus of hard swallows echoed across the battlefield.
Ying Nan, Guang Bo, and every Ta Lo guardian froze.
Their faces went pale.
Their scalps tingled.
They all looked like they'd seen death itself walk into their home.
The Dweller-in-Darkness was out.
And now this endless swarm of Soul Eaters—
It was over.
They couldn't even handle the Soul Eaters, let alone the demon itself.
And now they were being overwhelmed by both.
"This… this fool… what has he done…"
Guang Bo stared at the sky, dazed, despair washing over him.
No one could fight this.
No one except—
"Guang Bo! Pull yourself together!"
Ying Nan's voice snapped like a thunderclap.
Then she shouted,
"Everyone—prepare for battle!"
Her command jolted everyone like a slap to the face.
The guardians clenched their dragon-scale weapons.
All eyes locked onto the colossal demon and the swarming Soul Eaters overhead.
Even knowing they were doomed—
They stood their ground.
ROOOOAR!!!
Another deafening roar shook the heavens.
The Dweller-in-Darkness, seeing Alex before it, flapped its enormous wings and lunged straight toward him.
SWISH SWISH SWISH!
Tentacles shot out like spears, aiming to pierce Alex and rip out his soul.
Anyone else would be instantly killed.
But Alex?
Not a chance.
BOOM!
A sonic boom cracked the sky as Alex launched himself forward like a living missile.
CRAAAAASH!!!
A violent explosion thundered across Ta Lo.
Ying Nan, Guang Bo, and all the guardians watched in disbelief—
The gigantic demon—
A monster the size of a small mountain—
Was blasted away like a rag doll.
It slammed into the cliffs behind it.
The entire mountain collapsed.
The ground trembled as if Ta Lo itself had been struck by an earthquake.
And Alex?
He hovered calmly in the air.
Looking down at the demon like a god of war surveying his battlefield.
Majestic.
Terrifying.
Dominating.
"He actually… punched the Dweller-in-Darkness away?"
"That's… that's the Dweller-in-Darkness!"
"Is he even human!?"
The guardians were dumbfounded.
One punch.
ONE PUNCH.
They couldn't believe what they had just witnessed.
And the fight wasn't even over.
ROOOOAR!!!
The demon erupted from the rubble, furious, wings beating like thunder.
It launched itself at Alex again—
Alex didn't dodge.
Didn't move.
He simply extended a hand.
WHOOM—
A surge of psychic force erupted.
The Dweller-in-Darkness froze mid-flight.
Just like the Ta Lo guardians earlier—
The enormous demon was suspended in the air like a helpless puppet.
The monster thrashed violently, wings beating, tentacles whipping—
But it couldn't move.
Not an inch.
"You dare target Krakoa?"
Alex's voice was icy.
His gaze like cold lightning.
"Stop! Stop! I— I submit!"
A panicked, trembling voice burst from the demon.
The Dweller-in-Darkness was BEGGING.
Even Alex blinked in mild surprise.
The giant beast… was talking?
Well… this was technically a cultivation-style mini-world.
Talking monsters weren't too strange.
Still—
Alex was unmoved.
Expression cold, he made a slicing gesture.
SSTCH!!!
An invisible blade fell.
The demon's massive head separated cleanly from its body.
A fountain of blood erupted like a geyser.
THUD!
The colossal head crashed to the ground and rolled twice.
Alex released his psychic grip—
BOOOOM!!!
The enormous headless corpse crashed to the earth, making the entire ground quake.
"Th— The Dweller-in-Darkness… died just like that?"
"He… he killed it?"
"He waved his hand… and killed it!?"
Across the river, Ying Nan, Guang Bo, and every Ta Lo guardian froze.
Their minds blanked.
Their worldviews shattered.
This was the demon even the Great Protector could only seal—
A being that had terrorized legends for thousands of years.
And Alex killed it—
Casually.
Effortlessly.
With a flick of his hand.
This wasn't just power.
This was absurd.
Screee! Screee!
While everyone stood stunned—
The swarm of Soul Eaters crossed the river, descending like a living storm.
The atmosphere instantly tightened—
The next danger had arrived.
